  • Spada is awesome. Lloyd is awesome. Can't we just leave it at that?

  • I find it funny how Spada is just a back up character and he is being compared to Lloyd XD it just shows you how useless Lloyd is.

  • Enough with the Lloyd and Spada rivalry, they both pwn anyone, they are each other mirror when it comes to their own games, they are the same IMHO, because I love them both

  • this guy looks like a bad imitation of lloyd...

  • @bullet980 Personally i prefer Spada, L:loyd was too childish untiol dawn of the new world, but even in Radiant Mythology 3 he still has the same childish acts.

  • Yuji Ueda sounds a bit strained for some of the artes.

That aside, Spada is easily my favorite Tales character of ALL TIME!

  • Indignation should have had more BOOOOM!!! to it... That indignation would never scare the heck out of Dhaos..

  • @dazzles22 Lol, Dhaos can just sit there drinking tea and reading newspapers. :D

  • @dazzles22 He's a swordsman, not a mage.

Give the man a break, lol.

  • INDIGNASHUUUUUN!!!

  • That indignation was just so...sad.

    ;c

  • @RYEUD Watch Legendia's

  • sorry this is a stupid question + off topic.... right now i have spada lvl 22 and im in the area where the volcano is.... so my question is how do u let spada use different swords? cause when i try to change imitation katana it wont let me... and pls help me..!

  • @cheatgamerlover3211 You are using a quest weapon, you need to cancel the quest or finish it

  • If I try to compare Lloyd and Spada, I will get a headache. Nevertheless, each character is incredibly useful in their respectful games. Maybe Spada lacks a bit because of his high TP consumption, and Lloyd lacks a bit in battle enthusiasm.

  • Spada sounds like Tomokazu Seki SO MUCH. wow

  • @VanSensei As much as I like Tomokazu Seki, Spada doesn´t really have that special tone Tomokazu characters have. GODDOOO FINGGAAAA

  • @VanSensei haha well actually his VA is Yuji Ueda. Both him and Tomokazu Seki have that kind of "what was that bastard?!" voice so I can see why you said he sounds like him.

  • @GaleDog Maybe Lloyd's combos are a bit less because of the pretty big sword's he is carrying?

  • Comment removed

  • @GaleDog Yup, that's what I thought when I played Symphonia. I also agree that if Lloyd were in Innocence, his combo number will increase and if Spada were in Symphonia, I think what happened to Lloyd would happen to Spada too.

  • so guys, Loid sucks

  • "great arrange of artes and spells" Lloyd is alot better in those terms. Spade has 28 artes including his mystic arte. Lloyd has 37, and if you include his different mystic arte in TOS2, then 38 artes. Spada is great, but Lloyd is still better.

  • @ShoghiDX Numbers are not always quality, Lloyd has so many repeated ougis and barely anything new. And Lloyd can´t access a big part of his moveset at a time due to the S/T tree.

Spada has far better movepool than Lloyd, having Light Spear and Lightning Tiger Blade

  • @Kevassa02 Lloyd's Lightning Tiger compensates for Lightning tiger blade, although he posseses that as well via unison attack. and almost all of Spada's artes could be subbed for via one of lloyds . and although lloyds artes arent exactly that fancy, hes using alot of traditonal artes, and his own created variants of them, such as creating the new movement for artes like Omega Tempest. Spada's combos generally rely on sword rain combos, whilst lloyd can combo well with almost all his artes.

  • @ShoghiDX An Unison attack that can only be used on his game and once every so often, Spada can spam it anytime.

And no, Spada doesn´t rely on Sword Rain combos, that´s just an understatement, if anything Lloyd has more Sword Rain dependance and Demon Fang combo restart dependance due to the system he is in. Spada can do multiple combo resets and be a lot more varied.

Lloyd´s moveset is not original, and his variants are mostly Cless Ougis, with rarely any new moves. Omega Tempest was Reid´s

  • @Kevassa02 Due to your first statement, thats like saying: "Spadas better cause Tales of symphonias battle system sucked"And if anything, Spadas Moveset is COMPLETELY unoriginal, the majority of his moveset is just a rip of lloyd's, with fewer combinations and variants along with a few spells. And the only Ougi's that Lloyd and cless share are demonic tiger blade, beast sword rain, and rising phoenix. And Omega tempest is used by lots, but Lloyds is by far the most efficient for combos.

  • @ShoghiDX I believe this is useless, you won´t understand.

Anyway, I admit I was wrong on Cless´ Ougis, Lloyd copies his Tokugis mostly, and Reid´s variants.

Stop being so defensive with Lloyd, seriously. Just because a character who has a more varied, flexible and combo based moveset appears doesn´t mean Lloyd is bad, it´s just he is not any better than Spada, while Spada outclasses him.

  • @Kevassa02 I like both Lloyd and Spada, though because Spada appeared afterward with a replica of Lloyds moveset with some spells, and light spear related artes, some people assume hes better. This has happened before, ive come to the conclusion with many people that Spada is better for Aerial combat compared to lloyd, though Lloyd can cover his team on land. NEITHER of them have unique movesets, lloyd simply has alot of his own variants. I prefer Lloyd, you prefer Spada, lets leave it at that.

  • @ShoghiDX Well, some of his skills were taken from Cless, and others were taken by Reid's ougi attacks I think?

  • @adikkuchan But those artes were staple are artes of the series.

  • @ShoghiDX

Please tell me you did not just try and argue that ToS2 helps make Lloyd better. If anything, it helped make Lloyd WORSE. Level 50 level cap means there's no reason to use him, or anybody else besides Emil, Marta, and random monsters A, B, C and D.

Really, if you try and play with them in your party for the final boss, expect to use a LOT more life bottles than if you used monsters. Despite the fact monsters are unplayable, and can't use items, they STILL make it easier to stay alive.

  • @ShoghiDX

And don't forget that Lloyd's actual moveset. Excuse me for a moment...

    Lessee.

Demon Fang: Cless had that first. Moving on.

Sonic Thrust: I'll grant you this one, and yes Spada does have it as well. But before you try and argue that one arte makes Spada a replica, allow me to say who else has it. Lessee...

Kratos, Zelos, Luke, Asch, Repede, Flynn, and Richard.

    Seven other characters.

Lloyd may of done it first, but if you want to be really technical, Kratos did it first. Heh...

  • @ShoghiDX

    Moving on.

Tiger Blade: Once again, Cless had this first.

Sword Rain: This is a variation of Cless' superior "Sword Rain: Alpha" which Lloyd learns later on.

Tempest: Tales of Destiny's translation failed. It was translated as "Spin Slash", however the Japanese names are the same. So, Stahn did this first as well.

Lightning Thrust: The only playable character who has this is Lloyd, but does it really matter? It's just a variation of Sonic Thrust.

  • @ShoghiDX

    Next arte:

Lightning Tiger: Lloyd was actually not the first to own this arte, it originates from an enemy (Rimul) in the previous mothership series game "Tales of Destiny 2".

Blazing Tempest: Lloyd was the first to use this arte, however it doesn't truly matter as, like many of his other artes, it is just a variation of Tempest. However, this one is not unique to Lloyd. Ruca and Karol used it later on.

Double Demon Fang: Reid from Tales of Eternia was the first to use this one...

  • @ShoghiDX

    More artes...

Fierce Demon Fang: Once again, a mistranslation of Tales of Destiny. Mary had this arte, but it was localized as Fierce Missile. Even if we didn't know the names of the Japanese artes, it's obvious what this one is. Stahn and Leon had the arte "Missile Sword". Easy enough to figure out.

Hurricane Thrust: Also originating from Tales of Destiny under a different name (Wind Blade), this is Garr/Woodrow's original arte.

  • @ShoghiDX

    Continuing on...

Super Sonic Thrust: Oh. It's a SUPER Sonic Thrust. That is original... How? Sure, Lloyd may be the "first" to use it (once again, if you're being technical, Kratos did it first) but it's just a "SUPER" Sonic Thrust. Which as we went over earlier, is originally Lloyd's arte. Which means that Namco got lazy and just decided to edit one arte a little bit and call it "SUPER".

Tiger Rage: This was also originally Reid's arte, however it was called "Demon Twist".

  • @ShoghiDX

Let's look at some more artes.

Heavy Tiger Blade: Lloyd is the only one to have this, but once again IT DOESN'T MATTER. It's just a variation of Tiger Blade.

Sword Rain: Alpha: As we went over earlier, Cless was the first one to use this.

Sonic Sword Rain: Oh, I see. It's a combination of Sonic Thrust and Sword Rain. No wonder Lloyd is the only one to have it, we don't really need this.

Omega Tempest: Once again, Reid was the first to use this arte as "Omega Tempest Strike".

  • @ShoghiDX

    Let us continue.

PSI Tempest: Really, it's just another version of Tempest. Which as we went over earlier, was originally Stahn's arte.

Beast: Once again, this is not Lloyd's arte. It originally came from Cless, in the first Tales Series game. Not very original.

Grave Blade: A variation of a variation of Demon Fang. I don't believe I need to say how unoriginal this is.

Demonic Chaos: This was originally Reid's arte, however it was called "Sonic Chaos". But yeah, not Lloyd's own.

  • @ShoghiDX

    Moving on.

Demonic Circle: Yet another variation of Demon Fang. Yes, it is Lloyd's, (although Flynn used it later), but seriously. ANOTHER Demon Fang variation. NOT. NEEDED.

Twin Tiger Blade: This may be Lloyd's arte, but it's still Tiger Blade. A really strong version of Tiger Blade, but still Tiger Blade.

Sword Rain: Beta: Lloyd didn't exactly "invent" this arte, as it's just a variation of Sword Rain. Caius later used this arte.

  • @ShoghiDX

And let us continue analyzing Lloyd's artes.

Raging Beast: A variation of Beast. Once again: IT. ISN'T. ORIGINAL. IT. IS. A. VARIATION.

Hunting Beast: Wow, Cless' Beast is pretty popular to have Lloyd copy and try and make it better it all the time.

Rising Falcon: What do I see here? Another variation of one of Cless' artes? This time of Rising Phoenix! This version was later used by Hermana and Flynn.

Demonic Thrust: A combination of Demon Fang and Sonic Thrust. Not original!

  • @ShoghiDX

    More of Lloyd's artes.

Demonic Tiger Blade: Although this is a combination arte, it was not made by Lloyd. Rather, by Cless. Again, Lloyd copies one of his moves.

Tempest Thrust: Another combination arte. Spada used this as well, but really, that's just to keep up with the whole Twin Sword thing.

Tempest Beast: I see yet another combination arte. NEXT!

Raining Tiger Blade: Another combination arte, also used by Spada. But once again: That's just because it's a Twin Sword arte...

  • @ShoghiDX

    Continuing on...

Beast Sword Rain: Cless used this combination arte first.

Guardian: Uh, really? A defensive skill that's basically just a rip-off of Magic Guard from Tales of Destiny 2?

Rising Phoenix: If I remember correctly, we already went over how this was Cless' arte in the first place, and how Lloyd altered it. What do you know, he has the original one as well!

  • @ShoghiDX

    Let us continue.

Falcon's Crest: FINALLY A UNIQUE- oh, it's his Mystic Arte in the original game. Well, at least something is unique...

I'm getting tired of writing out Lloyd's artes, so I'll stop here. You get the picture.

Lloyd's artes are NOT unique, or even "better". Honestly, Lloyd can easily be substituted for Kratos or Colette in his own game. They only made him worse in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.

If you feel the need to continue arguing, please do so. :)

  • @KamonPeachFox Falcon Crest? Don´t you mean Ryuuko Metsugazan? Oh wait was it Soryuu Metsugazan? Oh I am pretty sure it was called Eternal Blade...

Oh right, all of them are the same move basically

  • @KamonPeachFox Yeah, uh, have fun with that. Im sure MANY people would rather play as Lloyd than Spada any day. Soo have fun with that buddy :)

  • @ShoghiDX

I like how I put effort into that and you respond with something totally off topic. :I Please explain what makes Lloyd so much funner than Spada.

  • @KamonPeachFox About the artes, alot of those artes are STAPLE artes of the series, just cause Stahn had tempest and Cless had demon fang doesn't mean they're their artes. Lloyd is fun to play as because of his more traditional moveset that covers power, speed, and high combo. Most of the artes that the two share, like Sword rain alpha for example, lloyd performs more hits, thus adding to combos, and making the player feel more accomplished. Lloyd could also continue his combos with Demon fang.

  • @ShoghiDX

Ignoring ToS2 (and its stupid "Emil can get an infinite with basic attacks" among other things), the problem with Lloyd is that he's not so good at doing what he's supposed to do in high level fights, and his moveset limits him in that regard. He's got naturally high HP, sure, but a lot of his attacks have very high hit counts for only modest damage, causing enemies to go into overlimits much faster than someone like Presea would (and you can't build unison fast enough to interrupt).

  • @ShoghiDX

Colette and Presea both have better multipliers on their attacks for boss fights, and can be very efficient with attacks (Para Ball and Beast are cheap, high damage attacks), while still being able to inflict plenty of damage (Hammer Rain can do up to 10x Str!). Regal is also helpful, being able to double jump, and, in a pinch, can use his TP to use Chi Healer, making him versatile. Same goes for Kratos/Zelos, and they can keep an enemy staggered TP-free with slasher.

  • @ShoghiDX

So, it's not so much that Lloyd sucks, it's more that other people who aren't even supposed to be pure melee can do his job just as well, while still maintaining versatility. Spada is pretty much what Lloyd would be if he were more versatile - he can fight up close just fine, but he can also sit back and cast spells if the situation requires. Even better than that, he's got buffing abilities, with both the Barrier spell and the quick-use arte, Coil.

  • @wheelalligator WOOOO, more Fanboys >_> Spada's fighting style is seemingly useful only in Innocence. In all gameplay videos I've seen with Spada in BOTH games hes appeared in, players RARELY use his spells; variety without use. His demon fang artes can barely chain ( double demon fang >_>) and the majority of the artes he shares with lloyd, Lloyd can perform more hits with. If polls say anything, Lloyd is better with the fans, and in battle. Don't bother replying, im done with this video.

  • @ShoghiDX

Why are you complaining about Majinken and Majinken Souga when Lloyd has the exact same problem AND gets no spells to use instead when fighting at range?

  • @wheelalligator Spada gets Airborn from the demon fangs, Lloyd connects fine.

  • @ShoghiDX

Majinken's not very good in either case - both Lloyd and Spada have much better moves to use anyways.

  • @ShoghiDX True, Spada needs a bit more variants in his Artes.

  • You forgot about Shunjinken. :P

  • @Kevassa02 just wanted to tell that ToI has been translated completely now :)

just started to play the game and i love Spada already

  • Veo a Spada como un luchador bastante "enclenque" comparado con Lloyd xD

  • Comment removed

  • wait...Akisazame, Senkureppa, Thunder Blade, Cyclone, AND Indgnation?!?!

I need to buy this game just to play as this kid.

  • I find it interesting he can do a lot of his artes in the air, especially the various Majinken techs :D

  • Well dont forget this is an Aerial 3D battle system, kinda unique on its own since aerial in other 3D games are kind of different (Judith and Emil are lol Ceiling xD)

Though not shown in this video, all his artes minus spells and sword rain families are aerial, if I remember right :o

  • Ah right, I just remembered. Well Spada seems to be quite a favorite in the Tales community due to his wild sword style

  • yep thats right

  • im am a lloyd freak ...but this is.....DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO REPROGRAM MAI MIND TO LIKE THIS GUY BETTER THAN LLOYD D: WHY DID U POST THIS WHHHHHY!!!?!?!?! Sigh* even right nao as i say this im pretty much owning with this guy i have to say he's got lloyd beat pretty bad :/

  • Still waiting on Absolute Zero's translation so I can't judge his character yet, but his artes seem...I don't wanna say BROKEN, because he's definitely not up to Yuri (based on what I saw in the vid anyways) but at this point, him and Lloyd are tied.

  • this is SPADAAAAAAA

  • Spada is glorious.

  • Woah! Spada's cool...

  • Mokou is one of my favourite characters in Touhou. Thus i love this video

    Oh, and hey! Spada!

    :D

    Good vid

  • Though Mokou got nothing on Sanae!

  • WAHT!!!1!

Mokou's immortal and Sanae is just a frog/snake lady....

    WITH ARMPITS

  • Guys admit it; Reimu totally beats the crap outta everyone

  • WHAT.

Sanae is beautful and gracious. Mokou is just a whoreeee.

  • PUH-LEAZ

    Sanae's just Reimu #2

    And Kevassa......that was a cheap shot D:

Reimu's a player character thus making her impossible to lose.

Unless she was in the hands of a bad Touhou player :V

  • She isnt *a* player character, she is THE player character :3

  • Not really, Sanae is pretty different from Reimu. And much more beautiful. <3
