This is an outstanding addition to your collection. The juxtaposition of different coverings and colors with the human male form, very challenging (in a *good* way). I hadn't really ever thought of paint as a way of reshaping a form, but here it is.
Provoking. Nice work here. It always amazes me to see something that seems so simple in such different lights. I will never stop wondering about the beauty that is in everything... no matter how it is packaged. This short video reminds me that wrappers and packages often change the way we see things on so MANY different levels. What is it that happens when we strip everything down to it's bare essentials? Do we still see something beautiful?
Thanks for that truely immaginative piece of cinematography. I loved the 'stop-frame' or 'time-lapse' quality. If 'Art' communicates, it is justified. This little piece communicates on several levels. Prehistoric cave painters used their hand as a stencil, their mouth as a spraygun.
I loved the way you periondically offered him nude --without ornamentation. Nudity has been cheapened by habit, but when he wmerged from the green cellophane I felt joy.
I like all your videos very much! In a society so driven by advertising its amazing how highly influenced our lives are by products that promise to help you in achieving the "ideal", whether it be "beauty", clothes or cars. The way you manipulate the nude male body in this video is really thought provoking and creative. As the colors and words work to distort his torso you really start to question his substance, and reality as he blends into the wall along with each medium used to cover him.
Thank you for such a beautiful comment! Many people who watch this are thinking so much about 'where the story is' that they miss just allowing it to touch them on an emotional level. It means a lot to me that you got what you did from it.
