Excellent video! Thanks for the highly informative video, and thanks for taking the time to make this and sparing most of us the misery and aggravation of finding out the hard way!
man where were you 5 min ago? i had misfired on 6 and just tried to change coil.. find out they had spark plugs and i got little oil on that plug .,.,..,ford need to put instr for dummies lol
There's no wires because 98+ Crown Vics/Grand Marquis/Town Cars use a coil-on-plug(abbreviated to COP, oh what a coincidence, lol) system where each cylinder gets its own dedicated coil connected directly to the spark plug, and each black thing on top of the spark plugs in this video is called a coil-over pack. It has several benefits over a traditional "wired" sparking system but you can Google it if you wanna know more.
Thanks helped me locate the spark plugs on my 2004 Crown Vic. Ford really worked to camouflage their location. I too didn't see an plug wires. So, I was about to take it to the dealer. This gives me enough to go on. Thanks again.
Hey man, thanks for the video! This will be laughably easy compared to my Explorer. I was prepared to spend most of the day on this, now I think I can get it done during halftime of whatever game is on!
Don't let the fuel rail fool you. The coils will come right out, they flex very easy away from the fuel rail and pull straight out. It is painfully easy, almost make other cars seem hard.
dude! thank you. wish i wouldve seen this 5 mins sooner. first thing i moved was the gas line..spilt gasoline.....so came to youtube found this..now i wont mess up! THANKS FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!
I just want to tell you that its good to see someone with no formal education on engines willing to pursue and endevour like this. It speaks alot about your personality. I hope that you continue to find things that challenge you. When a man is challenged mechanically and overcomes the euphoria that is felt cannot be explained.
hey man i was there too i felt the same way when it came to changing the spark plugs but i found out through forums at crownvic.net so good looking out to man for those that are learning about this. i just recently today matter in fact put in the water pump for the crown vic.
Crownvic.net, the coils are 7mm and get a .054 gap
