@MegaBatproductions they still made gi joes. the 20th anniversary 1s and even b4 then they still had em off and on. though now their 8. 97 for 1 joe. back in the 90s they were 2. 57 or something like that
I agree completely with the toy comment- I think the 80's were the best time for toy manufacture, due to the the fact there was so much choice and variety in both the boys and girls markets, and they had a lot of innovative products at the time.
Nowadays, it's all cheaply produced replications, where the manufacturers stuff them into children's magazines and catalogues to make them look attractive, but are so poorly designed they last about 5 minutes and cost extornate amounts!
I think things like this, more than my growing older, really killed my interest in G.I. Joe. Even at that age I saw Sgt. Slaughter suddenly in G.I. Joe and thought, wth, a WWF wrestler riding a combat version of a pulling contest tractor?? Joe toys and cartoons had been relatively "realistic" up until then, but suddenly we had Slaughter and Serpentor and pogo-pods...
Relatively realistic? I hate to bring this up, but how does a show with laser rifles and zero deaths on either side of a massive war qualify as realistic?
They're gonna' need more cobras.

In the UK they changed his name to Sgt Slammer, at least for the Action Force movie, which sucks.

Not even Sgt. Slaughter could save that train wreck of a movie "GI Joe: The Rise of cobra." Good thing he wasn't in it.

And now there's 30 Paragraphs in a print size that can't be read on a 1080 TV for the 3 seconds it's displayed, on any contest / commercial today.

Sgt. Slaughter was easily my favourite Joe. The Cobra forces were generally a lot more compelling than the Joes.

how'd Slaughter become a GiJoe anyway?

@nocturned85 Joes were getting soft. Falcon called for Slaughter' help. In fact, Slaughter beat Cobra by himself.
