  • 1:37 en la tribuna un tipo con la remera de los pumas!!! aguante argentina! zarpado baterooo...

  • holly shit 2:21

  • What kind of snare is that... it sounds so beautiful!!!!

  • @kgreene1360 It's his signature snare from Tama. 13 X 6.5 steel shell. 4 mm I believe.

  • We need to imitate to him drummers!

  • look at 1:40 :L!!!!!

  • Wow....

  • I love how his China Cymbal is at his back

  • i think that china is a little out of reach

  • Much respect!

  • 1:43

  • Anybody knows the name of the opening song ?

  • jeezuz he sweats like crazy

  • qual o nome do guitarista dele éh muito bom

  • éh o melhor do mundo !!!

  • Grandturismo music.

  • Man, that's tight!

  • I am a drummer but I'm feeling my keyboard and guitar. great sync!!!

  • Travis Barker taught him.......

yeah right I just wanted to see you steam up

  • From 0:00 to 0:21 NO WORDS! Just a drumming genius. My top 3 favorite drummer.

  • toca de mais cordenação motora escelente

  • Yes!.He is the Top of R&B Drummers.

  • toca muito

  • open hand!, the awesome!

  • though all are certainly entitled to their opinion i am yet troubled when i see 'dislikes' over such talents like JB>>despite the fact hes a personal friend of mine, hes been blessd with a amazing ability to play the drums with passion, precision and finese..lets repect each others gifts...

  • @e2peep Justin may have passion for drums, but he's not precise or fine in his playing. He continuously plays the same groove, along with the same fills. His technique is mediocre, which prevents him from truly opening up. He's not good enough to be the praised drummer that he is.

  • He's right on. "chops and "solos" are for drummers give a crap about that stuff in the proper forum. Keyboard players and guitarists have no interest in a drummer that mows over the music with unnecessary fills and such, just like I have no desire to listen to excessive guitar fills and solos.

  • this guy is the real deal...just listening to play time is great. great feel and technique.

  • woaaahh!!!! ThIS GUY IS AMAZING

  • BING POW

  • @LipanConjuring8519 ABRABRABARABARABA BING!!!!!!!

  • i swear john blackwell hass a veeeeeryyy fast foot on a single pedal but honestly i think gerald heyward's foot is faster

  • lolol keep pressing 6

  • Press 5 and You will see a monkey!

  • Very nice, but man, that guy needs glasses or something. He's a great drummer though, people can learn a lot from him.

  • wut pedal is that?

  • @xXParanormalPunxXx I think they would be the Special Edition Chrome Iron Cobras. JB's a Tama Endorser, which would explain it, that and that I've never seen any other chrome pedal before.

  • ahahahaha!!! pazzooooo!!!!

  • He is very humble. Also very funny and kind. Plus listen to that playing. . .

  • wow this guy is insane!

  • He means keep it simple and avoid overplaying when playing with a band especially when the drums aren't the main focal point, like with mj or Elton John.

  • FUSION

  • "Keep it simple"? , "Avoid Overplaying"?... I think he's only saying this to sound humble, yet he's playing crazy as fucking hell shit! Overplaying in my opinion. NOT simple AT ALL in my opinion as well... just saying. I think he's overplayin quite a bit. HE'S GREAT. But I'm gonna overstate that he's overplaying!

  • @reevesrandall Why would you make a DVD when you'll only play simple beats?

  • @reevesrandall that, or hes in the middle of HIS solo, which would mean showing off? if you listen he says dont over play keep it simple untill they say can a drummer get some, and then bust your moves... really? hes overplaying? hes playing such simple stuff but using complex sticking, technique and for his level thats what hes about!

  • Comment removed

  • He can over play right now its his DVD it aint somebody else's gig but u listen to him with an artist. Like on the tour with Justin Timberlake he did nuthin but keep that groove. smh Learn ur facts G. Even on the tour he did with Prince he was solid and kept the groove tight. For me once you've played for Prince,MJ and Madonna he can do what he likes because it obviously works!!

  • @reevesrandall Well when he's playing for Prince and Chaka Khan and other gigs he's WAY less busy...

  • This guy is amazing! :)

  • That's very correct about keeping it simple. I also find a lot of young drummers just playing Lots of fills not caring about the groove that supposed to be played.

  • Does anyone know how to play this music?

or where can I find its music sheet?

  • i love that he has his china behind him, that way he wot over use it like some drummers. :)

  • @Drumsandreefs Not true, friend, they're K Custom Hybrid 13" :-)

  • THE BEST SOUNDING SNARE EVER!!! HIS TOMS TOO AWESOME!!

love his K hi hats exactly what r they called.......i still got a lot of learning to do on cymbals :)

  • @MisOutFor Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Hihats.

  • @MisOutFor lol this guy

  • @MisOutFor the y are k customs :)

  • @MisOutFor yup he gets awesome sounds of of his drums.

his hats are k custom hybrid hats

  • THE BEST SOUNDING SNARE EVER!!! HIS TOMS TOO AWESOME!!

  • nobody, I REPEAT NOBODY has a better pocket/groove/solo than John Blackwell. Point Blank.

  • 1:36 Blame travis barker

  • this guy is so on point its rediculous

  • Joey Jordison owns this dude so much! He is the best drummer in the world!

  • @Metallica4Ever93 -sight- you have allot to learn, but thats ok.

  • CKEWOIFY WEOIFN WENFO BING POW!! LOL

  • The best way to get really good at drums; watch black people play lol

  • Keep pressing 6 xD

  • oh lord keep replaying 1:43 and 1:41 haha

  • I just quit,and Im a guitar player not a drummer

  • Do you hear that drummer's! Stop over playing!!!

  • Pause.

    Start again.

Click 6. wait a sec. repeat. reapeat

  • Oops..

It seems my computer did not show the comments.......XD

  • Why has no one made a comment on this vid yet.. This is awesome...

  • @TheEikestar im guessing tama starclassic bubingas, don't take my word for it........but they sound awesome

  • Killer drummer! Now show Pridgen how to play!

  • @arthurkitchen Pridgen can play! He played for a lot of R&B acts before TMV/The Memorials. He hated being in "a box" beause he was playing for artists that hired individual musicians to back them up. He just has more freedom with The Memorials because he has creative say.

  • @Moog167 meh, I just don't hear it! John eats him for breakfast

  • Skyscraping China!! Booyah awesome drummer!

  • Don't mean to be racist but I think it's funny how the two drummers in the spotlight are black and all the guys in the "audience" are white!

  • What is the name of the song that they are playing at the beginning of the video? I would like to find that.

  • The Funky Drummmmmmmer

  • love that left hand hi hat action

  • he should endorse yamaha instead of tama. just my opinion. but i think tama is for small kids just starting out. and metal dudes. yamaha has a tons of masters

  • I don't know why metal is being mentioned?? But I hate metal that is being played so fast but u need triggers just to hear that stuff that's just odd to me. I mean really if it's so fast and soft that u can't actually hear it why even play it.

  • I would be sweating too, if my beats were hot like hell!

  • tastyyyy playerrr i love that!

  • I saw that keyboard player touring with Bilal recently, anyone know his name?

  • Comment removed

  • Does anybody know what Drumkit that is??

    Yamaha?? and which series?

  • @Aiwahhappen he is Tama endorser so the kit is Tama Starclassic Bubinga

  • Amazing snare!

  • @Hannes0070 Fuckin' awesome tight sound

  • Hi!! the song of the intro it's called "Mind of J", from the first CD of The John Blackwell project !!

  • What is the name of that first song? sounds great

  • wow!!!!...i like his style...and hes telling the truth to...musician listen and learn young and old...learn to stay in the pocket..

  • that floor tom at the start sounds so nice. dang.

  • the price gas to get to session 20 the price of session 30 the price of behind the back china hit and some bing pow priceless

  • hes such a cool guy when he talks, and an amazing drummer

  • [insert elevator]

  • where is this guy from? DC Comics?

  • this guy can drum but c'mon this is metro sexual crap.

  • @SidewalkFrequencies lol what does this have to do with metrosexuality?

  • @SidewalkFrequencies it's good old funk, bitch, beside, if he enjoys to play this, so be it.

  • i love his style and theory.

exactly the way i am about playing in the pocket and playing with th music.

  • @ihatespongebob Agreed!!!! Drummers that can keep the pocket, in out and back in will always get hired before show offs and flash drummers!

  • master!

  • whats the definition of chops?

  • @wannabeKeithMoon how one manipulates the drumsticks in his hands.

  • @wannabeKeithMoon ~~ Style/technique.

  • @wannabeKeithMoon

I believe like your drum fill skills

  • what kind of hi hat is he using in this video

  • @DRIFTFACTOR3 hybrid

  • @DRIFTFACTOR3 zildjian hybrid K

  • Instantly like him because he's humble. Great drummer, better person.

  • @47TheSteve more importantly, he freaking knows what he's doing XD

  • @47TheSteve There's a funny story he told in a modern drummer about why he is humble like that. He didn't to be growing up until he got his ass handedto him in a drumoff by a kid who never said two words, after he went around talking a ton of smack. He said he remembers that every time he needs a check.

  • where can i get this track its so hot

  • This guy is on Soul Drummers . com

  • john got the grooove....absolutely!

  • this guy is the man!

  • blackwel one foot is like a double bass pedal and hes right play the music thas what im displaying on my drum videos i can do the chops and rolls but what for that dont matter when u r recording in a studio check out my vidoes

  • "I don't want to play no chops, this feels good.."

  • this nigga's awesome

  • sorry but I don't understand what John says from 1.36 to 1.56; could anyone tell me?

  • haha 1:45

  • Can someone tell me the song that starts playing at 2:30? That's something that I'd love to try with my band, so anything you can tell me about that kind of music (what genre and what bands) would be greatly appreciated. I am just now starting to get into this kind of music. Thanks.

  • @TheFenderFiend At the risk of sounding like I have no idea what I'm talking about, you can try out some of the less avant garde fusion bands such as Scott Henderson and Tribal Tech, Vital Information, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Colosseum, Casiopea... if that doesn't do it for you maybe you want something smoother and/or funkier, perhaps The Rippingtons or the Crusaders. Enjoy.

  • @nuggetegg

    thank you very much!
