  • Great action, only takes his eye off ball!!

  • como iba cambiando la posicion de las piernas

  • Like this vid. I always use the old style serve motion when I get tired or leg hurt.

  • Pancho Gonzalez Should have been included. Arguably one of the best serves ever.

  • It's amazing how as the years have progressed, the leaps in the serve have gotten higher off the ground.

  • @APH1991

Back in the old days, it was illegal to jump into a serve. Therefore, the use of the legs was not even an idea. Players had to stay grounded. Long before players learned about ground force and the power it generated. Even back then, players could still hit a mean ball. The Sampras serve is truly one of a kind...perfect...but only he could hit it. Impossible to teach exact Sampras Mechanics. God given ability is half the battle. He had loads of it.

  • @SlyGuyKy when was it deregulated that pros could jump on their serves? interesting...

  • @vseae15o

In 1961. The ILTF (International Lawn Tennis Federation) allowed servers to jump rather than require them to keep one foot on the ground. The ILTF was the sports governing body from 1913 to 1977.

  • his soles are going to mark the courts

  • GOAT at 1:45. Many second serve aces, most fluid motion, and lots of spin.

  • Donalds kick serve is amazing.

  • cool video

  • Pancho serve influence!

  • 2:20-2:28 is so beautiful

  • Are all the clips from the French Open? The surroundings look so different now.

  • this video is taken from a French Federation of Tennis's Lessons, called the service.

Why don't you precise this? maybe more tennis fan'll be happy to find it. :)

It's a pity that the serve of Suzanne Lenglen, originally in the video, was cut there.

    best regards.

  • Rules were different. A foot fault occurred when you "entered the court" prior to hitting the ball.

  • hasn't changed much

  • Wow...it's pretty much the same as now. Has all the fundamentals and even pronation.

  • You got it backwards snoble. Nowadays you need to have an all around game but back than if you had a strong serve it would carry you pretty far.

  • Early on the feet did not leave the ground then later they did. They use to drag their toe when moving forward and making contact. They also use to finish with the racquet head on the opposite side of the body. They use to say the service motion was like scratching your back (the small loop made before striking the ball) and finish with the racquet head tucked under your arm (not really but close). In the past you had to have an all court game where today is just hold serve.

  • NIce comments...thanks a lot

  • Whats the name of the song? Thanks.

  • One of my favorites piano concerts: W.A. Mozart- Piano Concert number 21 In C, K 467 - Second Movement, Andante

  • Fantastico!!!

  • Muy interesante. Gracias!

  • Te felicito. es el video mas genial que vì, maravilloso. Fijate que llevo mas de 6.000 videos vistos. Quisiera que hicieras algo igual con los golpes restantes ( drive, revès, volea y slice de revès).
