  • not only the song is very nice also the background!

  • Nice! The best part is the trombone solo! ☺☺

  • Still better than JB

  • Best song ever !

  • 4:29 if women were like this section, men would never leave the bedroom.

  • @TheMrSpanks I use Kelly plastic mouthpieces they are cool :)

  • @briguy10493 ew plastic mouthpieces. haha I'm sorry they just sound terrible in my opinion.

  • @SirBoehner I have one for marching band, it sounds great and its really comfortable.

  • fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff ing good

  • they are tryin so hard to bite new orleans style of brass music but yall remember where it came from birth place of jazz baby believe that find your on styyle faggots

  • these guys are fuckin AWESOME! that trombonist is indeed a god.

  • sounds very cool!

  • Comment removed

  • ahh, love it:)

  • That trombone player is a GOD :O

  • this song is hard....

  • Wow, what a tune! 5*

  • I saw them live on Lott-Festival 2008, really awesome!

  • this is hot!

  • a4ar0n;

the drums aren't brass either, but they still need them. durrr.

the type of music they're playing needs a sax.

stfu if you don't know what you're talking about. lol.

  • Youngblood incorporates the saxophone because of it's SOUND and since the TYPE of music played is that of a brass group, they keep the brass band name. Also, if you're being picky about that then the percussion section doesn't belong either. For anyone who thinks saxophone doesn't belong, I challenge you to find a recording without it by YBB and compare.

Also, the saxophone is played with a reed attached to it's rubber or metal "mouthpiece" via a ligature.

  • no shit sherlock...

  • its made of brass

  • so?

  • also A4ar0n, while saxes aren't counted as brass, they have more brass on them than a trumpet. Also, any brass instrument won't have a mouthpiece made of brass. it will be some other metal. Brass instruments are any horn that aren't used as percussion, and don't have any wood reed.

  • Brass mouthpieces are made of brass and then plated.

  • All brass mouthpieces are made of brass then either silver plated or gold plated, get your facts straight. Also the comment about saxophones is out of left field, I mean really?

  • Just as a note, you can get plastic mouthpieces, they are a god-send if you're playing at christmas and it's freezing. Stops your mouth getting stuck to the instrument :) Saxaphones are ace in all of YBB's songs.

  • Wrong. Plastic mouthpieces are pretty comment. The least you can do is google something before trying to prove someone wrong with completely false information.

  • @MNader92 well, plastic mouthpeice's suck. Plastic and metal resonate differently therefore and a PROFESSIONAL would never be seen playing a plastic mouthpiece. Just my two cents before you get on here and sound all intelligent about me leaving out an insignificant detail.

  • @roornc as the first chair trombone player in my school as well as someone whose played on both brass and plastic mouthpieces quite a bit, i actually prefer plastic. i personally feel like i have more control of my tone and they come in handy when you have to march in 35 degree weather. that, and they just look cool when you get a colored one and you can play a bit louder from my experiance without blasting

  • I love this song! I agree with aaron, saxes are very different than trumpets and trombones. That doesn't make the saxophone a bad instrument at all jeez

  • los ptos amos!!!

  • The bass player is godlike

  • more than awesome!!!

    YOUNBLOOD!!!!

  • This piece just speaks to me. I dunno what it is about it, but it moves something deep within me, as a musician, as a person... I love it.

  • the name of the song is Brooklyn

  • and this is only a little part of it....

the tuba multiphonics are much better on the recordings and stuff.

    i hav the live version....

my brother has the other version.

    =]

  • Whats the name of this song?? Its so hard to find these guys' albums where I live and When i finally got ahold of one it didnt have this song. naturally i was dissapointed

  • The name of the song is Brooklyn. As it says on the top. But when the bands site is back up, they have like 10 free songs. Including brooklyn, and many other great songs. Just google the band and you'll find them, the site is down right now for some reason.

  • thx alot man. i thought it they were playing in brooklyn

  • it's called Brooklyn

  • dave is the teacher 4 oregon drumline.

    hes really nice.

    btw hes the snare drummer

  • The one on J.W Pepper is a marching verson.

The layered site says their working on makeing some of their song as well. From what little i've seen on the J.W. Pepper version is that its mostly just an octive higher, maybe......

Haha, it is a difficult peice though, great fun

  • i love this song!tadadatatataaaaaaatdada...^^

  • I transcribed it! finally....

  • is there way way those transcriptions could be put on the internet maybe...

  • I would definetely like to see the transcription. This song is plain awesome!

  • That's just about the limit

    that guys are incredible

  • cooläbänd

  • vollgeil

  • saugeil

  • If you want the arrangements, the do exist. We played this song in concert band. Written a helluva lot more difficult than it sounds, but after about the third time through, it's cake. Go spend the 60 bucks.

  • Where do they "exist?" I searched and J.W. Pepper has a marching version available, Is this what you played in Concert band?

And Yeah, I have a scratch file on my comp that has the right notes written so I can play it, having the song memorized, but the rhythms are consistently wrong, this is one hard transposition!!!

  • why is everyone rating all these comments as negative?

  • de la pure, de la balle sans modération

  • Their best song.

  • can anyone send me the trombone part for this

  • Loved it when Manger Musikklag played it!!!!

  • Does anybody could send me arrangment of this song (or any other Youngblood's song) for brass band or jazz ensemble? Please

  • Im so sad to see this song go to marching band, it will never be the same, I don't know, marching band just requires a whole different demeanor, I can't see myself playing this in my marching mode....

  • yeah, my school's marching band played this song, too. it was good, but a little too harsh. but the jazz band played it, and it was incredible, much better than the marching version

  • thanks for the music, Fallon.

  • hey, I've been looking for sheet music for this song, any idea where I could find some?

  • Does anybody know where I could get a transcription of the trombone part to this song?

  • yeah, hello...I have the whole chart transcribed/arranged. And you know me... I also transcribed "But You Can't Run," which is a really hip track with a quasi-latin groove. I've done some Dirty Dozen, Rebirth, and Mama Digdowns charts too. Are you really not aware that we've done this stuff? Come see me....

  • So since I made the comment that I had transcribed a couple of YoungBlood charts, I've been getting spammed to death by people wanting the arrangements. Look, nothing personal, but I won't be sending these transcriptions around to total strangers...just out of respect to the guys in YoungBlood. If they were published I'd buy them (and so would you), but they're not so I sat down and wrote them out (and so could you). Anyway, you'll appreciate it more if you put a little effort into it.

  • Kfallon , I'm 14 years old and i'm sorry if I offended by politely emailing you once (but i'm sure their were others who were less polite judging by your last post) and asking for your YB arr. , but the fact of the matter is..This music is NOT AVAILABLE for sale by YoungBlood and I myself am not capable(as of yet) of undertaking the transcribing myself. I respect YB loads but i'm not quite so sure about how restricting the spreading their great music is showing respect.

  • continued... I am a NONprofit organisation and i'm hardly going to sell on your transcription for tones of cash? I totally get your point but your not even taking the food from their mouths so to speak. Ive bought their albums AND their not even selling transcriptions? rant over sorry

  • The sound of a sousaphone can easily be achieved by pressing down the quartervalve halfway on a trombone :)

  • lol i'm playing this in my marching band too, i play the tuba

  • Man I love this song, we're playing it in Marching Band in my school.

Love that 1st trumpet part :P

  • Hey, we're playing it in Marching Band too! And the dance team is doing a routine to it, during our Homecoming halftime show.

  • We're playing a marching version of this for our halftime show. Woot!

  • love this song!

i play it for my band!

  • As the piece is called?

  • j'adore i love this musik

surtout le soubasophone ca me donne encore plus envi d'en faire

  • youngblood brass band is fucking amazing..they make me proud to be from wisconsin.

  • I've got 2 albums of these guys. tHey rule.

  • in the youngblood brass band's album Live Places, there are an other version of this song

  • that is good but i dont see the other tuba player what happen to him he rocks

  • The other tuba was Nat McIntosh, he left a few years ago. He wanted to take his music in another direction. He wrote the majority of the last Mama Dig Down's last cd. He is back to playing his original instrument the trombone.

  • My marching band does this for our parade song, it's a fucking blast. I love YBBB!

  • That song is fucking awesome. So good.

  • Did you know other versions of this song ? I just love the impros and i would hear some more !

Is the saxophonist Joshua Smith ? - I saw Tony barba and Zach Lucas live, so who's that saxophonist ?

  • I arranged a version of this for a jazz ensemble, if you want it, message me with your email and I can email either a Finale 2006 file or a midi, I can't figure out how to make it a pdf yet though.

  • my brass band plays this song and sometimes we give the melody to the tenor. it adds nice variety.

    -Lucky Chops Brass Band

  • You guys got a score for that? I really wanna get some people together to try this out.

  • Mee too, Please!!^^

  • people do a search on the band chicago or the song "25 or 6 to 4" ..also a execelent group

  • yes, i love it !

  • I fuckin love the YBBB, but they havent been in England for ages, cant wait to seem live. For the last time, they dont have a Tuba Player. There is no Tuba in YBBB. Its a Sousaphone. They are different instruments.

Whats going at about 4:33, is so cool.

  • A Sousaphone is a tuba. Nice job.

  • no a Sousaphone is a Sousaphone. A tuba is a tuba. They may be similar but let's not use them interchangeably ok?

  • What I've been told by many people is that a sousaphone is a tuba, albeit a type of one. Just as there are many flavors of saxophones, etc.

  • Not exactly.

A Tenor and Alto Sax are different instruments in different ranges. A Tuba and a Sousaphone are essentially the same thing. The Sousaphone is used for marching mainly, though it is a common misconception that it was designed for marching. It was simply designed to have a brighter sound.

  • yes, i love it

  • There's actually a version on finale showcase, but the sites down right now.

  • hi, could you please give me the link ? I'd enjoy see this ! ( sorry for my english, i'm so baaad ^^ )

  • I know a guy who transcribed this song. I can't even imagine doing that, this song kicks so much ass.

  • Hey, actually i'm transcribing this song right now. We are willing to play the song soon.

So if you're up to help me out with the sheets or at least the contact of your friend who did the transcription. That would be great!

    Thanx a lot!

  • Really? I really wanna play it. Is it on the internet maybe?

  • nah, we learned it by ear. There's a video of us playing it at some school on youtube but the quality of whoever recorded it is terrible. youre better off learning it from this.

    -Lucky Chops

  • Dang these guys go off the chain. I gotta say though, the left me in suspense cause I was waitin' for the tuba break after the drum section and they didn't do it. Oh well, I guess that makes it better.
