they are tryin so hard to bite new orleans style of brass music but yall remember where it came from birth place of jazz baby believe that find your on styyle faggots
Youngblood incorporates the saxophone because of it's SOUND and since the TYPE of music played is that of a brass group, they keep the brass band name. Also, if you're being picky about that then the percussion section doesn't belong either. For anyone who thinks saxophone doesn't belong, I challenge you to find a recording without it by YBB and compare.
Also, the saxophone is played with a reed attached to it's rubber or metal "mouthpiece" via a ligature.
also A4ar0n, while saxes aren't counted as brass, they have more brass on them than a trumpet. Also, any brass instrument won't have a mouthpiece made of brass. it will be some other metal. Brass instruments are any horn that aren't used as percussion, and don't have any wood reed.
All brass mouthpieces are made of brass then either silver plated or gold plated, get your facts straight. Also the comment about saxophones is out of left field, I mean really?
Just as a note, you can get plastic mouthpieces, they are a god-send if you're playing at christmas and it's freezing. Stops your mouth getting stuck to the instrument :) Saxaphones are ace in all of YBB's songs.
Wrong. Plastic mouthpieces are pretty comment. The least you can do is google something before trying to prove someone wrong with completely false information.
@MNader92 well, plastic mouthpeice's suck. Plastic and metal resonate differently therefore and a PROFESSIONAL would never be seen playing a plastic mouthpiece. Just my two cents before you get on here and sound all intelligent about me leaving out an insignificant detail.
@roornc as the first chair trombone player in my school as well as someone whose played on both brass and plastic mouthpieces quite a bit, i actually prefer plastic. i personally feel like i have more control of my tone and they come in handy when you have to march in 35 degree weather. that, and they just look cool when you get a colored one and you can play a bit louder from my experiance without blasting
I love this song! I agree with aaron, saxes are very different than trumpets and trombones. That doesn't make the saxophone a bad instrument at all jeez
all we need is a collaboration with the cat empire and i'm in heaven! great band... not quite cat empire but finally something that reminds me of them
This band is loved by 3 generations in our family, my kids, me and my 81-year-old mother! We lost our CD, gotta get a new one but this video is great to get me through til then....
Whats the name of this song?? Its so hard to find these guys' albums where I live and When i finally got ahold of one it didnt have this song. naturally i was dissapointed
The name of the song is Brooklyn. As it says on the top. But when the bands site is back up, they have like 10 free songs. Including brooklyn, and many other great songs. Just google the band and you'll find them, the site is down right now for some reason.
The layered site says their working on makeing some of their song as well. From what little i've seen on the J.W. Pepper version is that its mostly just an octive higher, maybe......
If you want the arrangements, the do exist. We played this song in concert band. Written a helluva lot more difficult than it sounds, but after about the third time through, it's cake. Go spend the 60 bucks.
Where do they "exist?" I searched and J.W. Pepper has a marching version available, Is this what you played in Concert band?
And Yeah, I have a scratch file on my comp that has the right notes written so I can play it, having the song memorized, but the rhythms are consistently wrong, this is one hard transposition!!!
Im so sad to see this song go to marching band, it will never be the same, I don't know, marching band just requires a whole different demeanor, I can't see myself playing this in my marching mode....
yeah, my school's marching band played this song, too. it was good, but a little too harsh. but the jazz band played it, and it was incredible, much better than the marching version
yeah, hello...I have the whole chart transcribed/arranged. And you know me... I also transcribed "But You Can't Run," which is a really hip track with a quasi-latin groove. I've done some Dirty Dozen, Rebirth, and Mama Digdowns charts too. Are you really not aware that we've done this stuff? Come see me....
So since I made the comment that I had transcribed a couple of YoungBlood charts, I've been getting spammed to death by people wanting the arrangements. Look, nothing personal, but I won't be sending these transcriptions around to total strangers...just out of respect to the guys in YoungBlood. If they were published I'd buy them (and so would you), but they're not so I sat down and wrote them out (and so could you). Anyway, you'll appreciate it more if you put a little effort into it.
Kfallon , I'm 14 years old and i'm sorry if I offended by politely emailing you once (but i'm sure their were others who were less polite judging by your last post) and asking for your YB arr. , but the fact of the matter is..This music is NOT AVAILABLE for sale by YoungBlood and I myself am not capable(as of yet) of undertaking the transcribing myself. I respect YB loads but i'm not quite so sure about how restricting the spreading their great music is showing respect.
continued... I am a NONprofit organisation and i'm hardly going to sell on your transcription for tones of cash? I totally get your point but your not even taking the food from their mouths so to speak. Ive bought their albums AND their not even selling transcriptions? rant over sorry
The other tuba was Nat McIntosh, he left a few years ago. He wanted to take his music in another direction. He wrote the majority of the last Mama Dig Down's last cd. He is back to playing his original instrument the trombone.
I arranged a version of this for a jazz ensemble, if you want it, message me with your email and I can email either a Finale 2006 file or a midi, I can't figure out how to make it a pdf yet though.
I fuckin love the YBBB, but they havent been in England for ages, cant wait to seem live. For the last time, they dont have a Tuba Player. There is no Tuba in YBBB. Its a Sousaphone. They are different instruments.
