Makes me want to play Link's Awakening now. My favorite's personally gotta be A Link to the Past, mostly because I grew up watching my brother play it and I played it, too. That, and SNES is my favorite gaming console. I loved all the elements ALttP introduced, not to mention the music! Majora's Mask is actually my least favorite. I guess I'm actually a bit put off by the pressure of the game.
Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong and Final Fantasy series will always be my personal faves. They were the first games I played ever. They are and will always be close to my heart. Miyamoto san you are my hero!
I don't get why people are so surprised at LA being his favorite. Him not being involved might have something to do with it, but it is a GREAT game. It is really unique.
I'm pretty sure Link's Awakening is his favorite because he wasn't part of making it. When you make a game you play each part hundreds of times, you start getting bored with it. There's no surprise or wonder when the full thing is presented and also you think of all the flaws or things you would've added when you play through the game. Miyamoto's playing Link's Awakening was probably the first time he experienced a Zelda game the same way the rest of us do, that's probably why it's his favorite.
Haha, I think it is very different, if you get to experience a game, that you didn`t work so much on. That`s why I really believe, that LA is his favorite Zelda game...
@5978888@5978888 Link's Awakening is one of the best Zelda games. It's lighthearted and very fun and many of the hallmarks of the series came from it:
fishing game, a wise owl talking to you, trading sequence, Malon, Talon and Ingo... it's also the first game in the series where Link had an Ocarina.
google the "Iwata Asks" article called "Zelda Handheld History". it goes deep in depth about how Link's Awakening influenced other Zelda games and how Ocarina of Time was very inspired by it
I agree it's a great game, but it's not one of my favorite Zelda games. I really enjoy the music in the game because of its remix of the main theme and the Ballad of the Wind Fish. Very fun experience.
Thing is I started with OoT so it gave me nostalgia and still consider it my favorite. Followed closely are MM and AlttP. IMHO these are the best ones, but all Zelda games are amazing except for the CDIs.
Plus all the Zelda buffs IRL I know either like TP, OoT or AlttP the best, so I literally jumped when Miyamoto said that's his fave. Never would have called it. But I can respect a man's opinion.
