if you want to know who is ALLAH then, read the bible in hebrew. You will see that ALLAH in arabic is the same ALLAH in hebrew, the word for god. When you read further you'll see jesus is written as ISA in hebrew the same ISA in the quran.And when you read further you'see Muhammed written in the hebrew bible. We pray in that direction because Allah has instructed us to, it's the most holy place in Islam and we pray in its direction. We do not worship it, other wise we would have mini-kaaba's in our homes that are pocket size etc. just like the pre-Islamics used to do. You will get a better explanation from a scholar, I can give you a good answer but go to a scholar or use youtube
