Who the hell disliked this? Jesus, people, this is a simple, yet powerful song from these guys! On second thought, I don't wanna know who disliked it. They have no taste in music anyhow.
Just shows you what 6 (including their touring keyboardist Butch Taylor) super-talented musicians can do with a *4*-note motif, and knowing each other so well that they can feed off everyone's dynamics to build and build until it's an unstoppable force... these 4 little notes.
I kinda agree with mschabowski, but not all versions are that good. The best, however, for all you rookies out there, is the 5-25-07 version in Lisbon, Portugal. Nothing touches it. Nothing.
YES. Live Trax 6 is one of my favorite albums, largely for that track, and Two Step right after it. It's my personal favorite American Baby Intro performance, along with my favorite versions of a few others, as well (Grey Street, DDTW, Bartender, Louisiana Bayou).
@galena33 Agreed! I was there, and it was one of the best experiences of my life! the whole concert, it was out of this world! You guys should listen to the album (live trax vol.10), and you will have to agree that it was, undoubtedly, one of the best DMB concrts EVER!
you guys dont know anything....the absolute best version of this masterpeice is on the 2007 Summer Tour Sampler CD that came with Live At Piedmont Park. That version is truly amazing! Blows me away everytime! he puts so much more into it
This live version is so much better than the studio. You get no feeling from the studio one and hearing it live makes me want to cry. The force he's putting behind this is amazing.
The Stand Up Songs are starting to remind me of some of the Everyday songs. So so in the studio. But when you here them live it's just so fucking amazing. Heard this live and almost shit in my pants.
yeah. this is nothing like the studio version. i mean the studio version still rocks and its too bad that some people wont appreciate the studio version until they see these songs live. but this song gives me shivers hearing it live, its awesome.
This is the best version I've so far heard of this song, simply amazing, Boyd in particular stands out soo much. I think this is the best I've ever heard from him.
there are really only three:kit kat jam, #34, and AB Intro. I think kit kat jam is a much better jam than this but this show didn't have a lot of energy in it. DMB Live Trax 6 at Fenway Park is a MUCH better version.
Nah the best is from the 8 disc Red Rocks set. Weekend on the Rocks is a compilation of this special 8 disc set I have. They do Dreamgirl with the chanting intro as well on it and Old Dirt Hill is simply amazing as well.
Saw second West Palm show last night. I had never heard ABI performed like that. Aside from Don't drink the water, it was the best song of the night. AMAZYING!
i fucking love this tune but i wish boyd and stefan would chill out and be more tasteful. instead they seem to just play over the top of everything without using their ears. if they listened to what carter and butch were doing they could learn alot.
Who the hell disliked this? Jesus, people, this is a simple, yet powerful song from these guys! On second thought, I don't wanna know who disliked it. They have no taste in music anyhow.

I think they quit playing it because of butch. Otherwise it is one of the dopest jams around. They should bust it out with Heartbeat Intro.

The set tonight flowed well. DMB opened up with One Sweet World into
Don't Drink The Water, then followed with the American Baby Intro
leaving many in the room with goose bumps as the energy level
skyrocketed. The groove persisted all the way through to Rapunzel.
We're sitting backstage now that the show's over, listening to Mike
Doughty's Haughty Melodic. A new crew favorite. Getting ready for the
overnight drive to Wisconsin.
