I've been a Rick Nelson fan since I was a kid, and this is one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm wondering, though, if something had distracted him that day. Despite his obvious good looks and charm, this appears to be a flat, emotionless delivery. If you think this is good, you should see him when he sings with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. He'd bring you right out of your socks. All the same, I enjoy watching this great artist sing this great song.

He has a beautiful face -- and yes, gorgeous eyes. No wonder my mom liked him so much back in their day. Wish he could have stayed on this earth a little longer.
Play music of this ilk on the radio at work sometimes. I listen to everything from the 40's to 80's. I pride myself on a wide taste in music but young adults don't get this kind of music because they came from divorced parents who bickered about money all the time. Kinda hard to be someone who sleeps with whoever, does drugs and has not a loving bone in their body and get this kind of innocent music.
Just listening to this song makes me wish I was living in the 50s and 60s it just seems to look like it was a great and really fun time to live and have fun. Some of Ricky's music really started alot of fun along with other singers. R.I.P. Ricky Nelson. :(
James Burton, playing the Fender Telecaster behind Rick, always had the sweetest gutiar riffs ~ never overdone, smooth with just the right touch to back Ricky's terrific voice and presence. Burton is recognized as one of the best of his era ~ he was the headline guest at Eric Clapton's "Crossroads" gutiar festival in Chicago last summer. Burton played behind not only Ricky Nelson but, later, Elvis Presley as well. I am a baby-boomer and watched Ricky & his family, for years, on television.
Ricky Nelson looked much better than Elvis, in my opinion. I think he was a better singer too. Elvis was a drug addict who ate too many bananas, & had sex with every groupie who came along, as long as she had clean toe-nails! I would guess that Ricky Nelson was pickier at least, since he looked better. Both were before my time, but I will never understand how anyone thought Elvis was appealing. At least, I feel as though Ricky Nelson deserved to be admired for his talent & looks!
@variedmusiclover Two great singers who left thier mark on music.Unless you were there watching these guys you should keep your dam mouth shut about what they did or did not do.Go get a life. They were both great singers.
@mskitkat52 Sure, they were both "great singers." I agree, but I personally thought that Elvis stole much of the attention away from other (just as good or even better) singers (from that era) including Ricky Nelson, because of his much more infamous & openly sleazy ways. I'm sure the glittery jump-suits & epileptic moves helped his cause though, too.
One of my favorite songs ...he is absolutely dreamy in this clip...there will never be another Ricky Nelson.....keep searching American Idol, but you'll never find anyone to fill the shoes of the original 'teenage idol' ....
I remember seeing him in concert in Fontana, Ca. Lots of women went to the front of the stage after the concert and he greeting us, even bent down and kissed my hand. A few months later he was killed in his small airplane.. so tragic... so handsom
@KB7BigTony That's the great James Burton on lead. Burton backed Nelson on most of his Ozzie and Harriet appearances.

It's a great video of young man who brought many of us, fans of his, hours and hours of wonderful music. Ricky Nelson, and his family, were a part of my younger life in the 1950's and 1960's. He left us much much too soon. I'll remember you always Ricky.
@MsMiMi7777 you know, i feel so ashamed to say this because everything in me wants to not like him but justin beiber is just as good looking as ricky was in his day. too bad he doesn't have one tenth of ricky's talent.
@fixfireleo although Justin is a good lookin' kid I can't agree that he had the looks of Ricky the vulnerability and perfect features and hair Justin just isn't his equal and certainly not as regards music Ricky was much underated and when the hippy culture took over he was looked on with derision by the young at that time I never could see why they couldn't like both as I did but many just follow trends He has regained much praise since and will not be forgotten Vaya Con Dios Ricky
Is that Jerry Fuller on lead guitar?
