I think the Asgard did not hand the ships to the Tau'ri, so that the Humans will employ the knowledge that was handed down, as opppsed to slapping on an USAF sticker on the ship. I always wondered why the Asgard never gave the Taur'ri their ships. Surely they had many powerful ships left when they commited mass suicide. I mean, I know they gave us all their technology and what not, but why not also give us their entire fleet?

Ba'al can't teleport without having a tracking device on himself. That is, he can only teleport from and to fixed locations. Asgard's targeting system allow Asgard to teleport to and from anywhere they want. Like they were beaming Danial and O'Neill from SGC quite a few times without notifying them first.
I miss stargate... i mean real stargate, not stargate universe - i can't even stand to watch it. The only thing that delivered my stargate for the week was a awesome fan fic but even now whats over with :(

The reason they couldn't ascend is because they are clones... a copy to copy to copy....they can't reproduce, they were just Vessels with no soul =( if it wasn't for that they would all have ascended since they were all very good people...I still believe the Ancients could have done something...but ancients are COCKY and DUMB only a few ancients helped and those were outcasts...
The Asgard couldn't ascend as they stopped evolving when they started to using cloning. As for the Ancients helping them to ascend that is against their non-interference rules. It was rebels like Oma who walked that fine line that let her ascend people. Even if they did ascend, they wouldn't be allowed to interfere in the lower planes as the Ancients wouldn't let them.
Not to mention the most helpful too, they fought every kind of major threat to the Tauri. They kept the Goa'uld at bay kinda with the treaty, then used Asgard healing thing to keep Jack alive till he made an Anti Replicator weapon, they they ultimately gave the weapons to defeat the Ori ships with them Beam weapons. the asgard arnt gone they uploaded them selfs into the computer core in the deadalus and the humans haven't found them in there cause they dont want to be found yet and they are going to come back in stagate universe

One question not really that much related but why can't you make a ZPM in the X304 AKA Daedalus it has the machine to make anything. Why can't they just do that?

The amount of power needed to create the subspace vacuum rift would exceed the systems capabilities. It is said that the Alterans need a lab 6 times the size of Atlantis to make there ZPM's

@TheaceF18 it can't make "Anything" it can only make what is Asgard technology or what has been studied by The Asgard so Ancient technology may not be included in the Asgard computer core.

1. The Asgard went a different route then ascension. the Tech route.
2. The Asgard database includes the combined knowledge of the Asgard race.
3. There is nothing keeping the Asgard from uploading their minds into the wicked Asgard drones we get to see in the upcoming Stargate MMO, Stargate worlds.
Maybe the Asgard will make a surprise comeback, only as AI instead of flesh and blood.

The "Vanir" Asgard of the Pegasus galaxy status Unknown; As of yet there is no follow up after the ancient Wraith hyperdrive disruption device was destroyed. It was assumed Allot of Vanir Asgard may have been killed when the ancient base housing the device blew up. There may/may not be more Vanir in hiding waging a Guerilla war against the wraith in Pegasus.

it IS true that its a bit big cliche that they "couldnt" ascend... and they "couldnt" because it was never mentioned, like it werent even a possibility. which is weird.
that too could have been good reason for them to give tauri their technology, because they couldnt anymore be around help them out, because of the ascend.

Considering all the good they had done for the universe the Ancients should have helped them ascend...the Asgard cleaned up after a lot of the Ancients mess dealing with the Goa'uld, The Ori and assisting in destroying the Wraith by providing us with the tech;) If anyone deserved to ascend...it would be the Asgard

I think it was mentioned somewhere that the asgard were incapable of ascending due to their damaged DNA (caused by constant cloning)

what`s to say they DIDN`T we just didn`t see it happen, in sgu they may be helped by a ascended thor or he returns to a physical body because something bad concering the destiny is going to happen and the ascended ancients won`t help

@thehantavirus The Asgard themselves could not ascend because they were clones....I did say the Ancients could ascend them like they did with Daniel :) They can't ascend themselves...but the Ancients could do it for them :) Daniel wasn't evolved enough for Ascention but hey...they ascended him lol

"thos" Is not a word please specify, if you are referring to the Lost Tribe from Atlantis series, they are clones of clones they too were searching a way out. Basically one can infer the downfall of asguard as one of our miracle drugs like Birth Control, Anti-Biotics, and perhaps in the future the cure to cancer.

Sadly everyone otehr then usa m,ilitia is shown as completly uncapible (especially Russians) to handle annything .( it would have been much better if other nations were more involved via International Overseeing Agency (IOA) in later seasons at least...
