  • I Like the feel of this piece please pop over and let me know what you think of my Glencoe, all the best for 2011..... Den

  • @DenTietze

    Thank you Den

  • I love this presentation even though it isnt quite correct. It was the Master of Stair who ordered the attack. He did this to keep in with the new king William. Unfortunately he was Scottish and wasnt content with the massacre! He ordered that the survivors be hunted down and killed. Some of the survivors fled to the New Lands in America, some fled to the south of Scotland Fotunately, i bear the name Henderson. we are still the hereditary pipers to the clan mcdonald to this day

  • Hi ya stugbroom16 ...Thanks for your comments ... There WAS a feature film called "The massacre of Glencoe"... It was made in 1971 and is still available at Amazon (VHS Video).. or you could try E-bay ....

    Many thanks

    Songbird :0)

  • Theres one called "Glencoe" starring James Robertson Justice. It is only on VHS and expect to pay about £20.00 plus. Enquire at Glencoe Scottish National Trust. This is the best I've seen. Chasing the Deer, starring Fish, Brian Blessed is more along the lines of Culloden if my memory serves.

  • great video:D rated and favourited:D

  • Many thanks stugbroom16 ... your comment is much apreciated .....

    :O) :O) :O)

  • Zzzzz. William III was Dutch, not English, and he was the King of Scotland and Ireland as well as England. The Lowland Scots regarded the Highland Scots as bararous savages for stealing their cattle, far more than English did (who had very little contact with them). What your uneducated, "help me I'm being opressed", comment has to do with Glen Coe is beyond me.

  • @Counterrevolutionite jesus man! it was william 1v and he just invaded ireland at Derry at the request of tghe English parliament.. Soo King William of Orange was a usurper invited by the English to fight the Irish in the hope that he wouldnt take their crown.. remember, the dutch had only just stopped fighting the english at the time, He took the throne, the british isles and we have all fared badly ever since. learn yer history

  • Very well done 5 billion stars & favourited. BTW you should start a band as this is just class. Seriously you have the skills, I can't believe you just do this as a hobby :) Amazing.

  • Hey RexAlban ...

    Thanks for your comments ....

Hope those "Two little girls" turned out to be beauties ...

    :0)

  • There is a book that tells what happened to a few of the survivors, it's called...The McDonald's and the Indians...(if memory serves) and chronicles how it came to pass that Sitting Bull had a Great Grand Daughter who was married to a Glencoe McDonald. I read the book, went to work in Glencoe, visited the museum of Chief Joseph (I shall fight no more forever) in Nez Pierce County WA, not far from the Fort where the McDonald settled, it's really a fantastic story.

  • I feel you should be more specific with your history on Glencoe after all only 38 people were actually killed by the redcoats. All the other casualties were killed by the elements in fleeing. Still that does not diminsh the dishonor of breaking the code of hospitality.

    Good song though

  • Why did you have to put in your tuppence worth?

  • Thanks for the response. DRINK FECK ARSE ANNEMARTIEN (ma gf) XD I cannae say gurlz XD LOL

  • Aye here thats why we could hate the Sassanachs.

Ye know why they called redcoats? Wel they dyed those discustin clothes with the blood of those they slaughtered.

They may be lucky we are not killin them becouse of 300 years of supresure, reapin and murder.

Its just the Scots keep the honor to themselfs. Killin the Sassanachs? Its not even worth the feckin effort.

  • Hey annmacmartin ....

Many thanks for your comment... We were encouraged to write this song by a friend of ours .. he was from Glasgow and his name was Martin... he died 2 years ago... When we flew to Scotland for his funeral, his family insisted that we stay with them and treated us so very very kindly .... Beautiful country, Beautiful people...

    ..Songbird :}

  • Thats lift - I,m a tierney, nee beattie, nee Macdonald from Inverness, all,s fine, your heart is in ure music, peace!

  • Hey SaraCampbell ... thanks for leaving a comment.... I must admit that I have never heard of the Lagganmore mssacre...(I will have Google it)... On your home page you mention a poem about Laggamore... it would be nice to see the words of this poem...

    Songbird...:-)

  • Why doesn't someone also write a nice song about the Massacre of Lagganmore? That happened before Glencoe, of course, its the one when the MacDonalds and others put all the Campbells in a barn and set it on fire. So many Campbells died in that one, but no one remembers it because there is no pretty song about it!

  • Excellent video - very educating!
