From what I can see they are I know I have no problem reaching the G at the 5th fret but then again I suck compared to you, However I'm taking lessons so maybe another year I can play stuff like you can "but in blues"

Nope it's a drop tuning and its DADGBE.

that is what you tune your strings too for dropD tuning.

depends on what your music style is, both have their strong and weak points.

if you're going for a lot of gain/distortion, an SG is better, unless you find a strat with a humbucker in it.

I have a question about your guitar , by the way you play great . I have an Epiphone SG 400, and the pearl inlay symbol just below the word Epiphone looks Identical to the one on your Gibson , although I couldn't see the word Gibson on yours ,Does Epiphone and Gibson use the same symbol , since they are now the same company ?
