It's a well done "Tug on the heart strings scene"
The music helps more than people know who are sobbing to this.
Bill Nighy's exceptional as he always is....and he gives the reason for your tears.
But Tony Curran who portrays Vincent van Gogh plays the scene so well, you put yourself in his place of "When I'm dead and gone, all that work I was so passionate about, which was laughed at in my time, will be appreciated so greatly"
One of the most beautiful moments of Dr Who history. I also cried when I watched this, and it still touches me each time I see it. I love how it wasn't cheesy as well.
I too wish Vincent had known his worth, but that is what depression does to you, I know because I have suffered very badly with it since my early teens. It was a lovely tribute to him.
THIS SCENE IS SO BRILLIANT <3 i wish the real vincent could have had this happen to him <3 its so sad to think that incredible man died not knowing what an influence he would be on the world...
Vincent Van Gogh was one of the greatest artists who ever lived, and even though he is no longer alive I hope that wherever he is he somehow knows how much he is appreciated right now :)
Every time i see this episode on tv i end up in tears, the Dr who actors catch the emoticion perfectly, along with the background music. I just watched this clip on here and yep i got tears again. As other comments say this is the best episode ever
Doctor Who has made me cry more than a few times, but never as much as i did for this episode. Taking Van Gogh - a suicidal, depressed man who thinks he is just completely talentless and worthless - to the future to show him how much of an impact he makes on the world... i just have no words to express how it makes me feel. Because he deserved that. He deserved to know how amazing and brilliant and wonderful he was as a person and as an artist. And, in it's own way, Doctor Who gave that to him.
I cry every time I see this clip. I would like to one day be a designer and engineer, and I know that if anything I made were featured like that, I would definitely start crying.
I want to point out the obvious 'slip up' the Doctor made ... what he did was nice, yes. HOWEVER, because most of the paintings on exibit had not yet been painted (in Vincent's time that is) there very well could have been a lack of inspiration in his work he could have been just painting what he saw on display at the exibit creating a loop in the paintings (which, thanks to the Doctor) will not have been painted unless he saw them in the future ... like i said though a nice, touching moment :)
This was one of my favourite moments out of the entire series, absolutely loved it. Made me cry so much, wish Van Gogh would have really seen this, he really was one of the greatest
i love to think that this would have actually happened. that van gogh could have seen how lovdd and admired he is today. to me, he is the finest painter of all time.
god why can't I find a good version of this scene. Still, I have to say something, or I'll explode. As a writer, and therefore a form of artist, I could tell you that this would make me so happy.. It would break my heart. I don't know how else to put it. I would be able to die in peace if this were me.
I don't even watch Dr. Who and I'm crying oh God
