  • To me, the worst part is at 4:35.

  • Holy SHIT this is catchy as hell.

  • One of the greatest talent/intellectual bads since Rush!

  • @chickenshyt490 Same...

  • This song gets even better with age.

  • I think there downfall was literally no info in the album sleeves

  • one of the most underrated songs (and bands) of all time

  • Extremely under-rated band. Great song, great album.

  • Amazing. These guys were really ahead of their time. I have yet to hear a band that was as artistic and great on the riffs as Hum was. Makes me sad how most people today prefer to listen to computer generated sounds (I refuse to call that crap Music) when bands like Hum remain hidden from the mainstream.

  • matt talbot the lead singer is from my hometown

  • Oh damn, this whole thing's shot in Allerton Park.

  • One of the most under-rated bands of the 90's. Fantastic album.

  • these guys are the bastard love child ofhelmet and the smashing pumpkins, its great :D

  • @metalgrungefan123 Yep. Probably the best postgrunge band.

  • pure core.

  • the sound of the band wake me up i have to listen more matirial of them

  • 1 person sucks

  • 1997..at The Fireside Bowl in Chicago. An immense sound for the low-slung roof of an aging bowling alley. Also, the first place where I noticed the sign above the bathroom stall that begged guests "Please don't eat the big pink mints - Thanks". Not the best of times, not the worst of times, but these guys were incredible.

  • its like a smashing pumpkins and bush baby

  • @mayonaisespaceboy Bush?! dude go murder someone and go to a prison where they keep score for rapes.

  • a friend introduced me to this music about a year ago. my life changed. i hope the members of this band read these comments. they have a RABID fan base. i don't understand how anyone could not like them. their music is literally perfect.

  • @MrR1D3R I think that person meant they both kind of have that distorted fuzzy sound + odd melody, but yeah HUM and nirvana are miles apart, nirvana is purely angsty

  • Man...Music today fucking sucks.

  • HUM for the win!

  • One of the best bands of the 90's ( with talent )

  • One of the great bands and so unappreciated.

  • Goddddd. Another incredible song with 1 single dislike from someone who did not grow up in the 90s and obviously has no life. GO HUM.

  • I'm a little pissed off that I have never heard of Hum until now. These guys rock!!! How the hell did they slip under the radar...

  • Thank you for this

  • one of the most under rated bands of the 90's

  • this video is painfully "Midwest in the 90s".

    love it.

  • awesome music! great band!

  • These guys used to open up for black lab years ago. Damn good band.

  • Possibly the most underrated band in history, it's brilliant song from a brilliant album.

  • If you like this check out the newer band Eat The Dog on facebook and youtube. Taking modern music in a different direction. Show your support for music coming back and check them out!

  • the drumming is so fucking good

  • Being a teenager in the mid-90s had its perks. Hum was one of them.

  • @Drakkhim so was acid!

  • @Drakkhim I wish i was a 90's kid. i was 3 when they ended ):

  • @sblakeb90 I love your enthusiasm. I was 16 years old in 1995 and a local radio station in Wheeling, WV ran an alternative block on Sunday nights called, "Left of Center." This is where I first heard Hum play, "Stars." I was absolutely hooked ever since.

  • Love this band. Excited to see them at the upcoming FunFunFun Fest in Austin.

  • @youcangofuckyourself same here gofuckyourself!

  • 1 person is retarded.

  • the drums in the break are just destructive. (for lack of a better word)

  • louds not the word for it.... more like a wall of sound, i saw them in ninety seven with swervedriver at the cotton club in atlanta, the best show after white zombie with filter.

  • @scottbranlawns It makes me mad cus I was 3 yrs old in ninety seven d: What I would give to see them live...

  • 3:28 my bad

  • 2:28 - my quick jump to the most orgasmic scream in the galaxy

  • Is it sad that I still have You'd Prefer An Astronaut on tape? I have since updated to CD but I still have the tape kicking around somewhere!

  • @mopart600 No tapes rule if you're sad about it sell it to me I listen to tapes all the time.

  • This band caused my biggest swallow my word moments...in 95 or 96 Bush played the Taft Theater in Cincinnati OH and the opening bands were the Toadies and Spiritualized...Somewhere along the line, Spiritualized were dropped from the bill and Hum toured in their place..I remember standing outside the venue saying "Who the hell is Hum? I bet they suck"...and after watching their performance, they still to this day are one of my favorite bands...I am SOOO glad I was incorrect...

  • HUM is better than Weezer, in my opinion. Its feels like punk rock is taken over by some jazzy group of nerds. I love it!

  • @NIN99Koala

Hum & Weezer are not to bands to compare to one another Hum is awesome as is Weezer, but they are both epic in their own ways and musically totally unrelated.

  • I had no idea there was a video for this song. I used to rock this tape from "The Pod" to "Suicide Machine." Sick 3 songs!

  • @khrayt You didn't rock the rest of the songs?

  • awesome song ,gives me chills:)

  • You can tell they really want to sound like Nirvana, but still a great song!

  • @Danalo78 they sound nothing like nirvana

  • @Danalo78 just like nirvana except for about 20 different rift changes, added with about 30 more chords and a deeper philosophical meaning, but yea I see what your saying they both have guitars...

  • @MrR1D3R thank you! at least someone here has some musical sense!

  • @MrR1D3R you're

  • @MrR1D3R idiot

  • Comment removed

  • @MrR1D3R lol

  • @Danalo78 so wrong you are youngster.............

  • @Danalo78

If anything, they sound more like Short Bus era Filter. Not that I think its intentional, Hum rocks, their music got me through some tough times in the 90s.

  • @Danalo78 I know exactly what you mean - especially on songs like Apollo or If You Are To Bloom. You're kidding, right?

  • I was about to say how underrated this band is but it looks live everyone else already knows it!

  • fucking yes! Love this album. Very underrated band and album over all.

    Thank you for posting!

  • I got to see them in Philadelphia in '97. They opened up with "Iron Clad Lou" and I nearly shat myself. To this day, the loudest show I've ever been to. I'd probably give my left arm for a reunion..

  • I would like to thank Transworld Skateboarding for having an ad for this in their magazine when I was 11. It defined who I am today...

  • i love it!

  • Champaign, Illinois FUCK YEAH!!

Thumbs up if your from Central Illinois and noticed that this was shot at Allerton Park

  • sweet old orange amp

  • Best band. period. Thank you, Brian St. Pere for leading the way for me as a drummer.

  • THANK YOU MISSION CONTROL

    Over

  • still my favorite band to this day, come back to us!!!

  • This IS the 90's! Fuck the eurodance crap they tried to feed me with, all I need is this.

  • the bad just look like thier fun to hang out with not because they r musicians its like they dont try to look totally bad ass it just happens

  • This is amazing.

  • They are easily—EASILY—the most criminally underrated band of that decade.

  • I love hum! Thanks for putting up this video! <3

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where was this band??????? totally 90's sound.. thank you god to give us the oportunity to heard this tune again!!! i never heard it before

  • If you guys like Hum/Failure, try finding the band Shiner, the album "The Egg" in particular. Its become a favorite of mine.

  • only 13,888 views? Pffft.. that's what wrong with the world today.

  • @stusvend That's quite alot of views, actually.

  • @MordaciousFilms Compared to general youtube, obscure garbage yes but compared to the millions of views rock-garbage like Nickel Back gets, it sucks. Just saying. Genius is often over looked for the instant fix, spoon fed, unintellectual dribble that gets pumped across the airwaves.

  • @stusvend I agree wholeheartedly. Be happy they got the recognition they did, for the fanbase that exists, even if not the biggest, they reached an audience nonetheless. I'm 18 and my 16-17 year old friends and I are really into this stuff.

  • @MordaciousFilms Yeah, there a good band.. it doesnt really matter. Coincidentally though, I first heard this band (the song Stars) on the radio of a top 40 alternative station. Things were different in the 90's though.

  • I love their rithmic section, the drummer's style reminds me of Jimmy Chamberlin of Smashing Pumpkins. Powerful...

  • using orange cabs and heads WAY before it was cool.

  • Either this or Suicide Machine is my favorite song by them. I can't make up my mind.

  • Still my favorite band. Always will be.

  • Best Hum song ever love it love it love it

  • Also if you like Hum, check out "subliminal plastic motives" by a band called SELF,,came out in 1995 and it is another overlooked band....check out the songs...."cannon","so low", "sophmore jinx", "borateen".....i promise u wont be disapointed

  • To many great overlooked bands in the 90s

  • This song kicks so much ass!!!

  • It's like as if the Meat Puppets and Helmet had a baby and this band was it. (that's not a bad thing)

  • @natetheevil i think there's a little smashing pumpkins influence in there too

  • @91nickt i think alot of Pumpkins.....really i think Pumpkins has the most powerful sound in their first two records than any other band ....

  • @imortality1995 definitely! I'm a big fan of SP too!

  • Allerton Park!

  • seriously one of the best rock songs EVAAARR

  • Saw Hum open up for Toadies in 1995.......these poor kids nowadays(meaning kids in high school) have no idea how amazing music was in the early to mid 90's....hopefully they have an older bro or sis....even hip hop was good...HIP HOP yeah right that has been dead for like 15 years

  • @imortality1995 DUDE! You saw Hum AND teh Toadies?! Man I wish I could've been born 10 years earlier. And I agree hip hop died in the mid 90's.

  • @imortality1995 Im 17 but i live off 90's shit AIC HUM Pantera Toadies iv been trying to get youd prefur an astronaut but no FYE around here carries it but i can walk in and find the latest fuckin Bieber shit fuck that punk bitch

  • Hell yeah, NERD METAL! LOL

These guys were great, and to bad I can't name a soul who has even heard of these guys.

  • Comment removed

  • in america no doubt

  • Hum is doing a reunion show soon.

  • this is music. hum was too great for theyre time!!!!!!1

  • Amen to that! Way before their time, and no other band ever came close to their sound and feel (well maybe Oceansize but thats just my opinion). Long live HUM

  • @DFSrlz oceansize as well as a band called cave-in. check out their album "antenna"

  • this music video reminds me of the midwest in November

    long live Hum!

  • Well I was 18 and I knew it was good then. I even got on Chicago's Q101 to request the song Comin Home off their album Downward is Heavnward.

  • Bryan St. Pere is bad ass drummer, he alone is underrated

  • I was looking for this video months and months back its only until now I just remembered it. Thanks for the upload.

    Champaign Illinois rules lol

  • Heck, I was only 4! This crap is blowing my mind though, so freaking good!

  • One of the most underrated bands ever

  • Could you imagine a Failure/Hum tour? I think people would die from the awesomeness.

  • I would certainly die upon hearing this glorious news!...maybe Sunny Day Real Estate and Explosions in the Sky could play too?

  • I saw Hum with Swervedriver which was a great show. Wish I'd gotten to see Failure in concert.

  • @chalaron that would have been one LOUD show! My eardrums are still bleeding from the few times I saw Hum in the mid 90's

  • @NikkTemplar

I'd quit my job and follow the tour around the country.

  • @Shoeg4zer

So many people have messaged me about that, so I'm going to actually try to make it happen....even if it's ONE show....just imagine.

  • @NikkTemplar uhmm, thats a double fuck yes

  • @NikkTemplar I know I would

  • Might be my favorite Hum song. Best band no one has heard of.

  • @dexterchild34

I think that God Lives Underwater may have them HUM beat for that title.

  • @dexterchild34 indeed you are right. one of the best bands of this era and few even know of them.

  • I love this song. It's so haunting, and heavy, but it ends on a bit of a light hearted feel. I love it.

  • you said it, awesome.

  • Never enough HUM! Awesome!! More PLEASE!!!
