So retarded and I actually liked this,lol (say's something about me). I love historical battles. Not into the middle ages I like ancient stuff more. They were more advanced and organized. Anyone wanna fight to the death for real? :)

Yes they have. it sometimes works but the sword and shield guys on the side see it coming.

By "the site in PA," I presume you mean Cooper's Lake where the Pennsic War is held, yes? In any case, the SCA website has the information you need.

This event happens every year in July in Northeastern Pennsylvania, but stuff like this happens every weekend. From the looks of it this was two years ago, it was a good day to fight!

just like the wars i used to have...but ours was near suicidal! we played for real but the only difference was wood swords and no sharp weapons. went on for 1 week.

It's not abvoius, but you can find it. We are divided into kingdoms. Finding our kingdom's website will help you locate your local group.

Go to sca-dot-org. Click on "New to SCA?" Lots of good info here. Scroll down to "Find a Local SCA group" Either click "Search for your kingdom" or "Knowne World map" After you find your kingdom, back to home, "SCA Groups" - click on your kingdom for their page. Good luck.

I don't get it.

Armour was used to decrease the chance of getting hurt in battle.

In these sca battles you can wear a full suit of plate armour and still a single hit can 'kill' you.

How do you exactly know when you're dead?

It is still used to decrease the chance of getting hurt. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to do this. A body hit or head hit will "kill" you in SCA combat. You know you're dead when you feel a hard thwack against your head or other part of your body. Then you either fall over or walk off the field.

Yeah, there are some instances in which the hit is too light and it doesn't count, right?

Also everybody is assumed to have connical helms and maille hauberks. reguardless of weather you are wearing more or less.

You are correct; however, we have people dressed from full-plate-armored 15th-century, to 6th snetury picts withhardly any armor at all. Therefore a common set of rules are established for whatis a good hit, regardless of your armor. So in assence, full armor does not buy you better battle performance. It might keep a GIANT BRUISE off of your leg, however... :^)

If You are looking for some serious medieval experience try belarussians or ukrainians haha. The easiest way to meet them is to come to Poland in summer for Grunwald battle. Unfortunately You need strictly historical accurate gear.
