Their coverage of congressional dissent of this war is noticeably absent. If you happen to catch segments on C-SPAN, though, sometimes you'll see more of it.

My point was about how people often hold the "Founding Fathers" up as sacred cows, or the pinnacle of all that is good and holy and that we can never, ever devise a better or more perfect union than they have laid down. Wow. Finally. This is passionate and it's accurate. How many Vietnams does our country have to experience before we understand that our soldiers are precious resources, not just fodder for "national pride." Most Americans, like me, would defend their country to the death. But before that price is paid, I'd like to make sure it was worth the sacrifice.

Isn't Iraq the most important place they should be? Vast oil reserves, geographically located in the center of the cauldron of Islamic hate towards the west, and Iraq has the most promise of becoming a democracy. Iraqi democracy may have effected the youth of Iran to rebel against theocracy. Sad as it may be, Sudan is not the most strategically important conflict on engage in.

Lastly, I'm not sure extremely limited government is the way to go in this nation. Considering the history between the government any the many disadvantaged groups that make up Americans, the government should not be limited to help those who need the most need. Now, I am in favor of a efficient government, one that is not beholden to greed or corruption, but I believe a severely limited government, one that most of the founders envisioned, is not viable and equatable in today's society.

@Dyakki The founders envisioned a federation of nation-states populated with people governing themselves. With the people choosing freely to live in a state or community where the laws reflected their values. I don't think the central government in Washington is any better at resolving the grievances of the alleged disadvantaged groups than state governments. You just don't trust the idea of people governing themselves. You believe in philospher kings ruling over a unitary utopian society.

Is that not what the progression of society and societal advancement is for? Aren't we better than we were 1500 years ago? Would you rather live 300 years ago or in the present day? Hm? Well, that's a very enlightened sentiment. And no doubt, your life experience has made you far more wise than the Founding Fathers, who you think should be discarded along with the Constitution.
Unfortunately for that view, however, the Constitution is the law of the land. If you want to change it to something else, then you should go through the amendment process.
We already have far too many rogue judicial activists with that attitude, making it up as they go.

Indeed, and I will fight with all of my might to see it changed, just as it was changed before to allow greater freedoms and equality for all people, a notion many thinkers and politicians at the time of the founding of America would have scoffed at. We have grown from that time, my friend. Why can't you see that? Transport anyone from 1700 into 2010, and I'm sure they'd find our world, our laws our governance quite alien.

Duh, of course we've changed.
However, the general principles upon which the Constitution were written will never change.
But if you wanna change the freakin BASIC foundation of our government system, do it legitimately through the amendment process, as has been done many times before.
Don't just deem some of it "out of fashion" and ignore or arbitrarily rewrite it (judicial activism). That's called "lawlessness" and is, yes, tyrannical.
