The Last Episode is set many years after the previous episode in the 4th season. Enterprise had only been in space 4 years. They flash forwarded a few years to end the series. So Trip could be in another show, but he has to die on the Enterprise on its last mission.

Some people don't get it. Trip died years after the original Enterprise series. There is still the year leading up to the formation of the Federation. This time period includes the Romulan War. I think you did a great job!

p.s Killing Tripp at the end of Enterprise was the dumbest thing in the history of Trek - He was the favorite charecter on the show. While watching season 2, I thought they should kill off Archer, but then the it got better in Season 3.
