The Special Comment that started it all... MSNBC just made a BIG PR Mistake by suspending Keith Olbermann indefinitely. Hopefully he doesn't become like Phil Donahue when MSNBC fired him when he was against the Iraq War.
Keith, Keith! Blah, blah, blah! Rubber ducky your my friend. Rubber ducky till the end or how about....tiny bubbles song for a theme song for the Bathtub Boy!
Get real, the only thing olbermann can blast is possibly farts in his tub!
Keith, Keith! I love you but why did you have to say England instead of Britain? Churchill was the PM of the British parliament, not the English parliament (which doesn't exist). It's even more upsetting seeing as Churchill was the MP for Dundee in Scotland.
He showed Nixon up there with McCarthy, but in fact, Nixon was a very good president besides watergate. Because of Nixon, we now have great relations with China, and most people don't know that every president since him, has called upon Nixon for advising in foreign policy, even democrats. That lasted up until the day he died. The 2nd thing is, Olbermann has it way backwards when he claims in 2006, Republicans were the popular party. Bush was getting bashed even before Iraqi Freedom began!!
i love when people watch these videos just to write something stupid. very good arguments too. ill bet you watch fox news because they are "the most truthful" when they are no better then MSNBC.
This guy is like the LAST person in the universe who is not afraid to speak the truth! He reminds me of that Edward R Muro guy form the film Good Night and Good Luck. Thank goodness we stil have freedom of speech!
Why does it always boil down to party affiliation? Think outside the box and stop concerning yourselves with whether or not there is a "D" or an "R" next to your name. Don't support crooked politicians just because it goes against your party affiliation. Only a fool bases his beliefs before hearing the policy.

All voices be heard, Mr. Oversemar?
The only one seeking to silence voices is Oversmear.
If the Bush Admin, were fascists, how come a hard left DailyKos propagandist is allowed to broadcast? Let alone why would DailyKos, HuffingtonPost, NY Times, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NPR be allowed to broadcast?
Only from the left come the calls to silence voices not in agreement.
K. Oversmear is the leader in the calls to silence voices. He's a hypocrite and traitor.
When fascism comes, it will come wrapped in a flag resting on a bible.
Our enemy is not a country. It is a movement provoked by lunatic fringes, demonizing US.
We need to stop stepping on hornet's nests and being surprised there are hornets swarming everywhere.
We need to be out of Iraq, and covertly hunting down terrorists using MOSSAD/MI6/CIA/Interpol, not conducting Normandy invasions of stone age camel jockeys.
Chill. Stone Age words was parody satirizing relative technological strength, US vrs Middle East. US so technologically superior, Iraq war makes US look like paranoid bullies coveting oil.
Rumsfeld, psychologically damaged from "losing" the Vietnam War, 40 years slathering for another chance, invented this Iraq war.
Why? US fights nation states, because that's what nation states DO. Hunting AL-Kaida/ OSAMA-that's for cops, not nations.
Ron Paul is a nerdy douche bag and so are his pods. We hit a bunch of those banner waving pervos with eggs and they started whimpering like Algore on a waterboard.
didnt know that there were still journalists of integrity left in america-good to see that there is.
Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.-Robert F. Kennedy
"The power of the Executive to cast a man in prison without formulating any charge known to the law, and particularly to deny him the judgment of his peers is in the highest degree odious and is the foundation of all totalitarian government, whether Nazi or Communist."
Sure, and Clooney in making "Good Night and Good Luck" was just a propagandist instead of someone wanting to warn us about blindly trusting the "Fuhrer" of the moment...
whether Joe McCarthy or Donald Rumsfeld, we need to be ever-vigilant lest we forget the hard learned lessons of the past, that rabid patriotism and the search for enemies in our own country turn us into the very thing we are trying to destroy, religious fanatics bent on forcing their ways on us and burying freedom and liberty in a hole we ourselves dug...

Olbermann's a brown-shirt who has a little (very little according to his ratings) following of modern day nazi's. Any pig who supports his racist tripe is just sick.
when you attempt to insult someone, could you actually make pertinent insults? Racist, hpw exactly? And btw, any moron who thinks that ratings equates to quality, is clearly a corporate whore who buys every piece of garbage thrown into their (your) face.
These lying bastards, the neocon global elite/big business are behind this fascist lying corruption. Watch Money Masters, & Fiat Empire on GOOGLE VIDEO see how deep the rabbit hole is. Time for action is NOW before all our rights are gone. George Orwell's 1984 is here. Watch 911 mysteries, 911 WAS AN INSIDE JOB! just like hitlers reichstad burning. george bush's grandfather helped fund the NAZI's - HITLER IS WEARING A NEW FACE - NAMELY BUSH. "The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect."
hahah prokkets, you are so ignorant it makes me laugh. with pearls of wisdom such as "u liberals and terrorists are the same thing" and "u guys need to go to detention camps and only released until cleared of terrorism charges" i wonder how you manage to breath.
Keith is the man. Thank god we have at least one person in the news willing to strike out where it is needed.
Prokkets: Judging from your manner of speech, I highly doubt you were even able to comprehend what Keith was saying. Please, sit down with a dictionary and your mommy, go through Keith's speech again, take a few weeks to understand it, and then get back to us.
keith oberman is a liberal left wing hippie conspiracy nut liberal terrorist, he just wants bill o reillys ratings , u terrorist liberals on the internet r lucky this is a free speech zone , we are kept safe from the terrorist by pres we need to praise him, u liberals and terrorist r all the same and we patriots need to rally and u guys need to go to terrorist detention camps and only relseased until cleared of terrorism charges

Hmm... Now reviewing this video after Donald Rumsfeld has resigned... it's a little bit more interesting knowing that something made this man quit his job...
If we appreciate the real meaning of the word 'freedom' then we must do all that is in our power to stop the Agenda of the New World Order. We have to use the media against them, it is the only way we can hope to convince those who are not lucky to be as intelligent as us...
God Bless America, God bless us all, we must resist this dictatorship, and help our brothers and sisters who are believing their lies.
I didn't get the comment comparing the Bush government to the chamberlain government in refusing to acknowledge the nazis/terrorist threat. Its more like the US government has created a middle-eastern threat over the last 26 years that isn't there as a premise to shut off oil supplies to raise oil prices increase dependency on fossil fuels and reduce humans iq to cattle in order to continue their kingly reign.
Yes--it is. Keith Olbermann & Dan Patrick was one of ESPN's most popular Sportscenter teams in the '90's. Quite a contrast going from sports broadcasting to this---but man did he do a good job of it!
The irony of what Bush said in his speech, is that his administration's own policies mirror the tactics Nazi Germany used toward its people to polarize them into supporting outright monsterous actions against humanity.
The monsters in our government (democrat and republican) have to be stopped if we are to avoid what we all know is coming.
Olbermann, I applaud your patriotism and your bravery in this piece.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
Is self-questioning so bad? We can't keep pressing on without double-checking ourselves. Don't forget that criticism is what makes democracy so great, and what kind of democracy are we supporting if we discourage inquiries?
The point is that Bush and his cronies knew full well that they would get stuck in Iraq - just review Cheney's comments about why Bush Snr didn't go all the way to Baghdad in the first Gulf War. Why they went in anyway - especially in a move which was probably illegal in international law - is a question that should be asked.
Oh I can post again. Zero I just want to say thanks for talking about this in a calm and resonable manner. To many times do these kind of discussions degenerate into idiotic name calling. The post about your drumbeat of failure is true. As I much as I hate it alot of the mongering for his removal in congress is all about politics.
"Liberals don't have any ideas." The only people saying this are people who get their information from Fox News. Do Bill O'Reilly or Rush "Oxy-Viagra" Fatball offer any solutions? Here is a short list of plans an ideas (youtube does not allow me to post links, so you have to retype this in the correct way):

I think all extreme language detracts from debate. From all sides. we can tone down the language all round and create more love all round. I dont believe we need to be so polarised, if we use a few sensible rules we can really leap ahead.
Keith Oberman is a MSNBC anchor who hosts their show "Countdown." The statements were editorial on his show. There was no "information" to his commentary, it was a rhetoric-laden attack on the secretary of defense and the current administration which painted the administration in the darkest of terms with no real fact behind it. He had nothing to report, no news or information, it was just several minutes of raw hate wrapped in a series of rationalizations.
Really, now? Raw hate...rationalizations...darkest of terms? So how would you label this: Bush & Company are mass murdering war criminals who deserve to rot in a dungeon until they meet their maker, the Devil, for some real punishment.
I respectfully disagree, Matic3d. Keith's commentary was hardly rhetoric. His commentary was filled with excellent historical comparisons and analogies. Nothing was rationalized. Indeed, Keith rationally called attention to many errors, both intellectually and morally, in Rumsfeld's outrageous speech.
Hmmm, 2700 American lives lost to remove a violent dictator and enemy of the US from power, and to give millions a shot at building a better nation for themselves. Loss of life is tragic, but I think it's incredibly shortsighted to fail to see how many people might think that it's worth the effort and costs.
Yes we removed a violent dicatator. We did put him in power and give him anthrax and other chem weapons to fight the Iranians during the Iran-Iraq war. But still removing him is worth it. But I still beleive that Rumsfeld is a failure in his job and has mishandled operations.
Then state your reasons, exactly how do you feel he has failed. I hear a lot of people screaming about Rumsfeld but not many who can say how they feel he has failed as SecDef, and fewer who can say what he should have done differently.
Fine then I'll state to you the reason I see Rumsfeld as a dissapointing Secretary of Defense. First off I disagree with the Rumsfeld Doctorine. More troops should have been utulized during the invasion so they would be on hand on the ground to maintain peace. He underestimated the operation. The Iraqi army should not have been disbanded. It should have been utulized to stabalize the country just as we used the existing warlords and militias in Afghanistan.
My distate in Rumsfeld continued....There was no real pla set up for the post war. From the start we should have gone in with more international support to help get the job done (In fairness thats more Bushs' fault). He also has cooperation issues with other branches , ie the CIA where he delayed the use of the Predator drones just because he wanted to control of them from the CIA and got in the wawy of the CIA doing it's job.
my reply cont. - - - The disbandment of the army was planned - they expected the mass surrendering, but not the scattered skirmish tactis that followed - many were picked up terrorist factions. But all of these things are what they are - the execution of the invasion is uparalelled in all of history. 2,000 soldiers dead in 3 years? Thats never happened before. Try looking up casualties in Korean War for a day, or WWII, or WWI, or Vietnam, or Civil War, ect
2,000 in three years is a low number. But I dont think you can compare this to things like WWI and WWII. There is definitly a difference in military effectiveness between the remenants of Sadam's Republican Gaurd and rebels to the forces of Nazi Germany of WWII or the German war machine of WWI.
yes - but, my point is that the constant drum beat day in and day out of Failure Failure Failure - is just that . . . its more politics than anything. It has more to do with who is running for office than the ACTUAL effectiveness or ineffectiveness of a military action.
Understood, but When it comes to more troops - I am not sure about that. How many were sent in total? What would have been the adequate number? I personally could not fathom that number, I am no way a military stategist or analist. Iraq army being disbanded - a lot of military people agree 100% with you there. Rebuilding a defense force and police force took double or triple the time because they had to start from civilians with no training whatsoever. Buuut. . .
I beleive the initial invasion consisted of 160,000. Which was a compromise between the Pentagon and Rumsfeld. The Pentagon originally wanted to go in line with the Powell Doctorine (the doctorine that acted as the guidlines during our military deployment during the Gulf War in '91) and send in 400,000. But....
But Im like you in Im not sure what the right number would have been. I just think that it would have been better to have more troops then needed then less troops. That way insted of sending more because we underestimated the situation, we could just send some home because we overestimated.
400,000 in '91 is not the same thing - Clinton outsourced construction and infastructure to KBR, Haliburton, DimeCor, and others in 94 - in otherwords - not all 400K were holding guns - some were delivering food, building bases, ect ect ect. . . with that change in gov - 160K fighting men could have been the same number or more than in '91 .
2700+ lives lost & 100s of billions of dollars r not worth removing a dictator & trying to install a flawed demcracy into a govt that wasnt even close to our problem anymore. Your making it sound like were doing iraqs a favor. Try Tellin the 10 of thousands iraqs there relatives are dead, but hell, atleast down the roaad youll have a mcdonalds and starbucks in the future
Invading Afgan and especially Iraq wasnt about "war on Terror" and it sure in hell wasnt about freedom in iraq.
These wars are for 3 things-Globalization of our corporations, american dollar over euro dollar, and the most important resource on this planet(oil). whoever controls the oil, controls the world. I hate to say but 2700 lives r worth that if your american but the problem
is this admin is so corrupted only the very wealthy few are benefitting and every other american is getting f@ck
Thank god for Olbermann. Bush didnt win the 1st election; I doubt he won the second; I can't wait till history gets all the oil-barons who are raping democracy. All you have to do is watch F 9/11.
Bush is an unlearned and experienced leader. We owe the world an apology.
All you have to do is read 1984 and you will see the Bush administration play book. "War is Peace" is synonymous with "Stay the Course". The USA was founded by people who questioned authority and fought against tyranny. There are supposed to be 3 branches of government that check each other, not roll over for the dictator/president. Thank you Keith for calling the neo-cons/neo-fascists out.
I really respect Keith Olbermann for having the courage to critique Rumsfeld and the Bush Administration. The war in Iraq is just plain wrong? We are losing the war on terrorism each day are military is in Iraq. Osama Bin Laden is still out there just chilling, while our honorable men and women in uniform are fighting in a needless, purposeless, and ill-conceived war. I am ashamed of Rumsfeld for his outrageous comments and I applaud Keith for kicking Rumsfeld right in his old balls!
Having no real facts or meaningful points to debate, oberman resorts to spiteful name-calling and rhetoric. In the end he is part of a movement which offers no solutions, they merely want to second-guess and return to a feel-good status quo of endless failed negotiation and concessions while our enemies continue to spread and murder us the way they have been doing for the past few decades.
Do you understand criticism of the leader is not "cut and run", Rumsfeld is a cocksucking faggot, he is the reason 2700+ americans have died while turning iraq into another afghanistan. To win this war we need 10-times as many troops, we need to enforce security in the streets, we need to secure the borders of Iraq, and search house to house to confiscate weapons, while rebuilding the country we so massively fucked up. Anything else will lose this war, and just uselessly waste lives.
Really, Matic3d, do you honestly believe that we are any safer now than we were before the Iraq War or even before 9/11? If anything, this war has seriously diminished America's standing on the world scene. No one respects American foreign policy, which has become, under Bush, attack now and ask questions much later or never at all! The war in Iraq is a huge distraction. The war on terrorism is all but lost and it is all Bush's fault.
Way to go, K.O. We need a voice like this now. It is incredibly apropos that you sign off with the words, "Good night and good luck". Edward R. Murrow would indeed be proud of you.
way 2 go way 2 go way 2 go,Keith Olbermann is one awesome truthful, honest passionet man,Keith said what everyones been thinking and im proud og keith olbermann and msnbc SmokeyC4
*apluse* can someone else do something similar in the Media...I wish they did however only few people have the balls to says the truth in National Tv.
WRONG: US war dissenters arent out to appease terrorists-- beause the war in Iraq isnt a legitimate part of the war on terror, but a cosly detour. In fact they're mad that the war against Al Quaeda in Afghanistan is being short-changed. Ever hear a protester shout "US OUT OF AFGHANISTAN?!" 0-- of course not.
Pulling our troops out of iran at the present would leave the entire nation up for grabs and in all liklihood cause it to fall to our enemy, becoming a radical islamic state and a major supporter of terror. I would say that is appeasement, just as leaving Hitler unopposed was. Rumsfeld's comparison was a fair one.
We already are a major supporter of terror. How do you think we do diplomacy? By threatening other countries to cease their production of "WMDs" when either:
1. We gave them the weapons in the first place
2. Our weapons are still active.
You know what's closer to Nazi supporters? People who blindly follow our government's actions like some loyal lapdog without a hint of criticism. That's what's closer to Nazis.
I agree that pulling out now would leave Iraq 'naked', but the Iraqis WANT us to leave (democracy anyone?). ALSO Chamberlain "appeasing" Hitler was more shrewd than stupid-- Germany had a non-aggression pact with the USSR, the US was isolationist, and France was FRANCE. WHAT could the UK have done at the time? The world is more complicated than simple comparisons.
Powerful and true words. Dissent is part of democracy, they go hand in hand. And America is still a democracy. Differing opinions does not mean that one is less American.
Dissent is fine. But some seem to feel that countering dissent is somehow unallowable, and loudly complain when counterarguments are being made. By all means, speak freely. But don't scream about free speech every time someone disagrees with you.
Who does that? Rumsfeld wasnt making counterarguments he was trying to downplay the dissenters by saying those who are were moraly and intellectualy confused.
Shame the Democrats don't have the passion and the balls to speak so eloquently about foul Rumsfeld and the rest of that corrupt and egotistical administration. It's about time the journalists at least started speaking up & out.
lol good thing i have to go, and what band wagon did i ever say i was on? Stop putting words in my mouth like Oreily and Limbaugh. The Rumsfeld solution is hopefully not your ideal solution for handling this. Defend the country and not your party for once for gods sake
9/11 was well planned out before Mr. Bush became President. Islamic fundametalists have been trying to kill Americans all the way back in the day of the Barbary Pirates.
Dont make that the excuse, if thats the case we should have occupied countries like North Korea, who are real threats. And for Rumsfeld, No dont FIRE rumsfeld, I never said that. He helped create the mess, he needs to clean it up while all of it is being recorded by history. My solution is to not have gone to war in the first place with IRAQ. My solution is now in the past. I just can sit back and debate with goons like you until the November Election.
Goons like me. Your a real intellect. You didn't have a solution. You're a fair weathered fan. It's easy to jump on the MSNBC band wagon. Let them do the talking for you. You have nothing to debate. Send me an email in November. I can wait a few more months to hear you whining about the latest issues. No solutions now and whining in November. I can hardly wait you idiot.
Funny how those on the right always resort to name calling. They also repeat the same talking points and whine that liberals "have no ideas". Bull. First actually train Iraqi forces to take over. What takes U.S. recruits a matter of months to learn has taken several years for Iraqis -- I blame the trainers. Then we pull back to the borders and let the Iraqi troops handle duty. Then we get the hell out. What is your solution, jeffshope?
First of all both sides of our government need to work together to find a solution. One that is agreed upon. Put the plan in place and get out. I agree, identify what is taking so long and address the issue. I have family fighting in Iraq. We want him home. My whole issue is that most people are quick to criticize.
In my opinion, we didn't have a good plan to begin with. We didn't think about the post Saddam.
It's nice to finally talk with someone that does have intellect.
They? who is they? SADDAM? He did so i agree, but he wasnt a terrorist that attacked US. Our purpose for war was in response to the 911 attacks from AlQuaida, not IRAQ GOVERNING.
We should have possibly been there second and not in the middle of a growing civil war we created by destabilizing the region. That's all you right-wingers do is jump across 3 subjects to make one point in which most of the times comes back to be contradicting.
Kootur, debate the issues. Calling people names really shows your intelligent level. Call us repugs, neocons, losers and fags, real genius. What's your solution? How are you going to handle Iran? Let's donate centrifuges to them and maybe they'll blow themselves up. Yea that's it.
IN REFERENCE TO OLE JEFFSHOPE: Well turn to FAUX news and you should be right at home dummy, and by the way, id rather hear cigar jokes and lies that have nothing to do with waging war without any substance. I swear you sheep need to stop posting on sites like this and just continue to follow. You all ready have a so many unjustified mouthpieces that evidently more than half the majority of americans disagree with.
I don't need a mouthpiece. I can form my own opinion without any loyalty to any news channel. I can post on any site I want pal.Freedom of speech was established years ago. Maybe you need to move to somewhere like Iraq and really have a mouthpiece. Voice your opinion their. You would be begging to be an AmericanIand have a true understanding of the word. I don't have to agree with you. I can do it without calling you names. Take a HS US History class pal.
JEFFSHOPE: Ha, well felt like the thing to call a person without a brain. Which means, you can possibly be thinking for yourself mocking Rush Limbaugh's claim to fame rhetoric. Two stick to the point. Iran has nothing to do with the past disappointments this administration has caused to American people occupying a country with no evident resources to do anything as threatening as IRAN.
No they just killed their own people. They treat women like shit. They invaded Kuwait. Not your problem. What are your solutions. I didn't say you didn't have a brain.
I would gladly debate issues with you and maybe agree with some things. What are the solutions? OK fire Rumsfeld, now what.
wow cody you must have a hard life posting response after response to yourself. i am not going to waste time debating your "filter facts". if you want to go on a macho trip in politics then join the army, where you can not just talk tuff, but you wont, because your a sissy too.
as the wife and sister of two men who actually fought in WWII, one in China/Burma/India and one in New Guinea I can assure you that there were no right wing nuts...only patriotic Americans defending their country. Politics never came into it.
Republicans think that angels and demons are real and that dinosaurs are a myth. You can't have an intelligent conversation with these people, don't bother trying. They'll just post spam and call people traitors and terrorists. Let's just hope that's their mid-term election strategy. Leave 'em be and they'll go back to watching FOX News and Sean Hannity and wetting their little pink pannities soon enough.
Stick with the facts? Stand behind Hillory and see where the country goes. This video is mid-term election strategy. I wonder what Olbermann would do? He'll watch the next Republican be elected and jab at anything that he thinks might get a laugh. He should start his own channel. The Liberal Comedy Channel. I'm sorry MSNBC is already being aired. Elect a Democrat and watch them do nothing. We'll have 4 more years of cigar jokes and lies. Clinton knows all about pink pannities.
another example of the eff. of right wing prop., good for Clinton and his knowledge of pink panties, better than Bush administrations ties to a homosexual prostitute, Rove knows camo panties.
well that is a relief...i was afraid the world had ended and i was here alone with the people who drank the kool aid....don't blame you; who wants to be under constant attack from illiterates.
What have you done to stand up to the terrorists? Other than fearmongering on the internet?
I served my country in the USMC from 91 - 99. I served in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I am a Liberal and proud of it. I am willing to serve my country and also stand up to the fearmongering assholes like yourself who think politics is a fucking football game. You and your ilk are what is wrong with this country.
I served in the US Army from 1986 to 1992 as an MP.I also served in Desert Sheild/Storm in Iraq,so you do not checkmate me.Also,I could count the # of service men I met who claimed to be liberals on one hand.It is not rationial, most liberals hate America and despise the military.Fearmongering? Are you not aware we are in a war now? Powerful regimes have America targeted, you better get with the program,Marine.
If Liberals hate America and the troops so much. Explain to me then, why a majority of the Iraq War Veterans are running as Democrats? Why there are more Democrats in the Senate and Congress that are Veterans? You must have many fingers. How many people in the current administration have served their country? How many of them found a way around going to Vietnam?
Also, not to be nitpicky but we have not declared war on anybody.
I'm so tired of that statement. "Liberals hate America." That's all you've got? Let's see, my dad was in the military, so was my grandfather. Both liberal. Neither hates America. I'm liberal. I don't hate America. Well, that's only 3 so far. You must be talking about all the rest, right?
kitty, Id have to say that there are are just idiots posting on youtube...you know the kind, wannabe bad asses that get picked in school and then show up wearing a trench coat carrying their daddy's ak-47
Rumsfeld is a great man.America is lucky to have President Bush and Rumsfeld at the helm now.Who is this Olberman fellow anyway? He sounds like he is reading the Dem's talking points.
Rumsfeld is a great man.America is lucky to have President Bush and Rumsfeld at the helm now.Who is this Olberman fellow anyway? He sounds like he is reading the Dem's talking points.
Because She is reading Democrat talking points.
Democrats are scared of real men, You know the kind that saved us in WW2.
They are SCARED and weak, Thats all there is to it.
Yeah. America is lucky to have two men who are obsessed with their own agenda and bullying everyone who dares step in their way. Meanwhile, more than 2000 of our young men and women are now dead.
Bush knew what he was doing when he invaded Afghanistan in October 2001. Since then, it's been like watching someone hit a bowling ball with a baseball bat.
Iam sorry sir - we listen to all words, we are free to form our own opinions free from oppression. In most Islamic Law countries you could not even have a You Tube or Oberman
We haven't figured out how to get the bus out of the ditch, but we should fire the busdriver who just keeps his foot on the gas while we figure out a solution. The fact is, there are no simple answers and those are the only ones Fox watchers can comprehend.
Fun analogy, but the fact remains - withdrawal from Iraq at this point would be disasterous to the US (and Iraq.) So I think it's reasonable to expect the people who are being the most histronic to explain clearly what they feel should be done. Leadership should not go to those who are best at whining about how things should be different - come up with a broad description of action, or stop the moaning and groaning.
The fact that the press and the Dem's have a difference of opinion isn't as much of a problem as it being just a bunch of whining, complaining, and finger pointing without ANY SPECIFIC alternatives of how to do it better. This is just how the last Democratic campaingn was ran when the press was reporting "low approval numbers" for Bush just before the election. You remember that time. It was during the same time Bush happened to win by the largest margin since Reagon. So much for poles.
Wikipedia: Fascism is a radical totalitarian political philosophy that combines elements of corporatism, authoritarianism, extreme nationalism, militarism, anti-anarchism, anti-communism and anti-liberalism.
Ol' Rummy just needs to stay off the TV and away from speaking publicly. He's about as effective as throwing water on a grease fire when it comes to "clearing things up" on the war effort.
Olberman (And His Type) and the Democratic party are pathetically weak on defending us, and Rummy pointed that fact out, make all the harsh speaches you want but the truth is the truth. LIVE WITH IT!

Why does it always boil down to party affiliation? Think outside the box and stop concerning yourselves with whether or not there is a "D" or an "R" next to your name. Don't support crooked politicians just because it goes against your party affiliation. Only a fool bases his beliefs before hearing the policy.

The point is that Bush and his cronies knew full well that they would get stuck in Iraq - just review Cheney's comments about why Bush Snr didn't go all the way to Baghdad in the first Gulf War. It is important information. He has certainly made a good contribution, and strands of his thought need to be picked up and argued.
mehdifazal 5 years ago
Keith Oberman is a MSNBC anchor who hosts their show "Countdown." The statements were editorial on his show. There was no "information" to his commentary, it was a rhetoric-laden attack on the secretary of defense and the current administration which painted the administration in the darkest of terms with no real fact behind it. He had nothing to report, no news or information, it was just several minutes of raw hate wrapped in a series of rationalizations.
Matic3d 5 years ago
Really, now? Raw hate...rationalizations...darkest of terms? So how would you label this: Bush & Company are mass murdering war criminals who deserve to rot in a dungeon until they meet their maker, the Devil, for some real punishment.
strandwolf 5 years ago
I respectfully disagree, Matic3d. Keith's commentary was hardly rhetoric. His commentary was filled with excellent historical comparisons and analogies. Nothing was rationalized. Indeed, Keith rationally called attention to many errors, both intellectually and morally, in Rumsfeld's outrageous speech.
dij070878 5 years ago
Hmmm, 2700 American lives lost to remove a violent dictator and enemy of the US from power, and to give millions a shot at building a better nation for themselves. Loss of life is tragic, but I think it's incredibly shortsighted to fail to see how many people might think that it's worth the effort and costs.
Matic3d 5 years ago
Yes we removed a violent dicatator. We did put him in power and give him anthrax and other chem weapons to fight the Iranians during the Iran-Iraq war. But still removing him is worth it. But I still beleive that Rumsfeld is a failure in his job and has mishandled operations.
keshik 5 years ago
Then state your reasons, exactly how do you feel he has failed. I hear a lot of people screaming about Rumsfeld but not many who can say how they feel he has failed as SecDef, and fewer who can say what he should have done differently.
Matic3d 5 years ago
Fine then I'll state to you the reason I see Rumsfeld as a dissapointing Secretary of Defense. First off I disagree with the Rumsfeld Doctorine. More troops should have been utulized during the invasion so they would be on hand on the ground to maintain peace. He underestimated the operation. The Iraqi army should not have been disbanded. It should have been utulized to stabalize the country just as we used the existing warlords and militias in Afghanistan.
keshik 5 years ago
My distate in Rumsfeld continued....There was no real pla set up for the post war. From the start we should have gone in with more international support to help get the job done (In fairness thats more Bushs' fault). He also has cooperation issues with other branches , ie the CIA where he delayed the use of the Predator drones just because he wanted to control of them from the CIA and got in the wawy of the CIA doing it's job.
keshik 5 years ago
my reply cont. Try looking up casualties in Korean War for a day, or WWII, or WWI, or Vietnam, or Civil War, ect
zeromusic 5 years ago
2,000 in three years is a low number. But I dont think you can compare this to things like WWI and WWII. There is definitly a difference in military effectiveness between the remenants of Sadam's Republican Gaurd and rebels to the forces of Nazi Germany of WWII or the German war machine of WWI.
keshik 5 years ago
yes - but, my point is that the constant drum beat day in and day out of Failure Failure Failure - is just that . . . its more politics than anything. It has more to do with who is running for office than the ACTUAL effectiveness or ineffectiveness of a military action.
zeromusic 5 years ago
Understood, but When it comes to more troops - I am not sure about that. How many were sent in total? What would have been the adequate number? I personally could not fathom that number, I am no way a military stategist or analist. Iraq army being disbanded - a lot of military people agree 100% with you there. Rebuilding a defense force and police force took double or triple the time because they had to start from civilians with no training whatsoever. Buuut. . .
zeromusic 5 years ago
I beleive the initial invasion consisted of 160,000. Which was a compromise between the Pentagon and Rumsfeld. The Pentagon originally wanted to go in line with the Powell Doctorine (the doctorine that acted as the guidlines during our military deployment during the Gulf War in '91) and send in 400,000. But....
keshik 5 years ago
But Im like you in Im not sure what the right number would have been. I just think that it would have been better to have more troops then needed then less troops. That way insted of sending more because we underestimated the situation, we could just send some home because we overestimated.
keshik 5 years ago
400,000 in '91 is not the same thing - Clinton outsourced construction and infastructure to KBR, Haliburton, DimeCor, and others in 94 - in otherwords - not all 400K were holding guns - some were delivering food, building bases, ect ect ect. . . with that change in gov - 160K fighting men could have been the same number or more than in '91 .
zeromusic 5 years ago

I really respect Keith Olbermann for having the courage to critique Rumsfeld and the Bush Administration. The war in Iraq is just plain wrong? I am ashamed of Rumsfeld for his outrageous comments and I applaud Keith for kicking Rumsfeld right in his old balls!

Having no real facts or meaningful points to debate, oberman resorts to spiteful name-calling and rhetoric. Matic3d 5 years ago

Really, Matic3d, do you honestly believe that we are any safer now than we were before the Iraq War or even before 9/11? turdmonster 5 years ago

That's what's closer to Nazis.

jeffshope 5 years ago
Funny how those on the right always resort to name calling. They also repeat the same talking points and whine that liberals "have no ideas". Bull. First actually train Iraqi forces to take over. What takes U.S. recruits a matter of months to learn has taken several years for Iraqis -- I blame the trainers. Then we pull back to the borders and let the Iraqi troops handle duty. Then we get the hell out. What is your solution, jeffshope?
charcoalportraits 5 years ago
First of all both sides of our government need to work together to find a solution. One that is agreed upon. Put the plan in place and get out. I agree, identify what is taking so long and address the issue. I have family fighting in Iraq. We want him home. My whole issue is that most people are quick to criticize.
In my opinion, we didn't have a good plan to begin with. We didn't think about the post Saddam.
It's nice to finally talk with someone that does have intellect.

Countdown with Olbermann 8pm Mon-Friday on MSNBC.

XIXMEDIA 5 years ago
I don't need a mouthpiece. I can form my own opinion without any loyalty to any news channel. I can post on any site I want pal.Freedom of speech was established years ago. Maybe you need to move to somewhere like Iraq and really have a mouthpiece. Voice your opinion their. You would be begging to be an AmericanIand have a true understanding of the word. I don't have to agree with you. I can do it without calling you names. Take a HS US History class pal.
jeffshope 5 years ago
JEFFSHOPE: Ha, well felt like the thing to call a person without a brain. Which means, you can possibly be thinking for yourself mocking Rush Limbaugh's claim to fame rhetoric. Two stick to the point. Iran has nothing to do with the past disappointments this administration has caused to American people occupying a country with no evident resources to do anything as threatening as IRAN.
XIXMEDIA 5 years ago
No they just killed their own people. They treat women like shit. They invaded Kuwait. Not your problem. What are your solutions. I didn't say you didn't have a brain.
I would gladly debate issues with you and maybe agree with some things. What are the solutions? OK fire Rumsfeld, now what.

You're rediculous, progressives and conservatives fought side by side in WWII, that's why we were successful. Teamwork fuckface, teamwork.

as the wife and sister of two men who actually fought in WWII, one in China/Burma/India and one in New Guinea I can assure you that there were no right wing nuts...only patriotic Americans defending their country. Politics never came into it.

Republicans think that angels and demons are real and that dinosaurs are a myth. You can't have an intelligent conversation with these people, don't bother trying. They'll just post spam and call people traitors and terrorists. Let's just hope that's their mid-term election strategy. Leave 'em be and they'll go back to watching FOX News and Sean Hannity and wetting their little pink pannities soon enough.
rok100 5 years ago
Stick with the facts? Stand behind Hillory and see where the country goes. This video is mid-term election strategy. I wonder what Olbermann would do? He'll watch the next Republican be elected and jab at anything that he thinks might get a laugh. He should start his own channel. The Liberal Comedy Channel. I'm sorry MSNBC is already being aired. Elect a Democrat and watch them do nothing. We'll have 4 more years of cigar jokes and lies. Clinton knows all about pink pannities.

You do know that our enemies want to kill you, the liberals, as well as us Americians who stand up to them?
label1877 5 years ago
What have you done to stand up to the terrorists? Other than fearmongering on the internet?
I served my country in the USMC from 91 - 99. I served in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I am a Liberal and proud of it. I am willing to serve my country and also stand up to the fearmongering assholes like yourself who think politics is a fucking football game. You and your ilk are what is wrong with this country.
gwlush 5 years ago
I served in the US Army from 1986 to 1992 as an MP.I also served in Desert Sheild/Storm in Iraq,so you do not checkmate me.Also,I could count the # of service men I met who claimed to be liberals on one hand.It is not rationial, most liberals hate America and despise the military.Fearmongering? Are you not aware we are in a war now? Powerful regimes have America targeted, you better get with the program,Marine.
label1877 5 years ago
If Liberals hate America and the troops so much. Explain to me then, why a majority of the Iraq War Veterans are running as Democrats? Why there are more Democrats in the Senate and Congress that are Veterans? You must have many fingers. How many people in the current administration have served their country? How many of them found a way around going to Vietnam?
Also, not to be nitpicky but we have not declared war on anybody.
gwlush 5 years ago
I'm so tired of that statement. "Liberals hate America." That's all you've got? Let's see, my dad was in the military, so was my grandfather. Both liberal. Neither hates America. I'm liberal. I don't hate America. Well, that's only 3 so far. You must be talking about all the rest, right?

Democrats are scared of real men, You know the kind that saved us in WW2.
They are SCARED and weak, Thats all there is to it.
cody32127 5 years ago

We haven't figured out how to get the bus out of the ditch, but we should fire the busdriver who just keeps his foot on the gas while we figure out a solution. The fact is, there are no simple answers and those are the only ones Fox watchers can comprehend.
jrubin22 5 years ago
Fun analogy, but the fact remains - withdrawal from Iraq at this point would be disasterous to the US (and Iraq.) So I think it's reasonable to expect the people who are being the most histronic to explain clearly what they feel should be done. Leadership should not go to those who are best at whining about how things should be different - come up with a broad description of action, or stop the moaning and groaning.
Matic3d 5 years ago
The fact that the press and the Dem's have a difference of opinion isn't as much of a problem as it being just a bunch of whining, complaining, and finger pointing without ANY SPECIFIC alternatives of how to do it better. This is just how the last Democratic campaingn was ran when the press was reporting "low approval numbers" for Bush just before the election. You remember that time. It was during the same time Bush happened to win by the largest margin since Reagon. So much for poles.
