This is one of the strangest serious portrayals of Hitler i've ever seen..i think Hopkins is really trying to convey the physical side affects of all the medication Morrell had Hitler on at this point...he dose'nt come across as the typical "manic" Hitler but as someone obviously highy medicated...i think Granz got it excatly right without going overboard on any one aspect of Hitler's mindset at the time of the Bunker period

@popper504 downfall was intense and depressing , but in german . I had a talk with some histrieans and it was a bit innacurate. reguarding himmler and the details with the uk and surrendered troops

Hopkins totally looks like Hitler. It is just the hair is too short. He does not need eye make up. Hopkins is Hitler. The nose shape, the ears, the height, etc.

@MoveOverCasanova A) It's a "based on (or inspired by) a true story" work of fiction, and it doesn't even pretend to try and be a documentary; B) if you're going to make a three hour film about life in a Nazi bunker, you do need to provide the audience with at least one somewhat sympathetic character through whom you can give narrative perspective and viewpoint; C) at best, it can only reflect what was known/believed at the time, and D) you weren't there, so you're no better a judge.

@onechordshortofasong Ganz got lots of awards, he just didn't get an Oscar. IIRC, all Hopkins got was an Emmy, and you've probably even got one of those. ;)
