how to catch snorlax

I tried with my ultra ball, but when that failed I used my great ball instead. It worked, probably luck, combined with the snorlax being down to low HP and being paralyzed.

What i did was use Dream Eater on him with my level 30 Hypno.

3% health and he was sleeping ... did the trick.

I bought 99 pokeballs and 50 great balls i caught it when all its pp was gone and it was using struggle but it killed five of my pokemon and damn near killed my last one it took 50 pokeballs and 38 great balls to catch it but it is well worth the time and effort

i think the key point here is to get the Snorlax in sleeping status. i managed to catch it while it was sleeping with about 40% of its HP remaining with only one Great Ball.

The best way to catch him is to have him paralyzed, asleep, poison, confused and so on at a low hp level.

@guruvag It is all about luck using an ultra ball is twice as powerfull as a pokeball, so it's still possible to use a regular ball to catch a ledgendary.

dont know if this works on firered but on the normal red version you just get him low, he puts himself to sleep with rest, and then when he's full HP and sleeping you can catch him with a normal pokeball pretty easily. I swear the higher hp he has the easier it is too catch

for some reason he's easier to catch when his health is high, i wasted 8 ultra balls trying to catch him while his health was in red...i just megakicked him and got his health down to about 70 and caught him easily

The easiest way is to have a lvl 28 primeape and use low kick. It brings his health down to about 10%.

This took me 4-6 tries. Just save before you get to him then find a pokemon that can take a little under half of his health away per hit (I used my level 31 Primeape with Karate Chop) when he is asleep so it only takes you 2 turns to get him to low red, then use a great ball while he is still asleep. That is how you catch him. Like I said, just continue to try, you will get it.

Hitmonlee or hitmonchan can be a very good match for snorlax, try using a move that will put it to sleep

If you have grimer or muk, disable can be used on rest, that may give ya enough time to catch it without it regaining HP
