  • @BoringGamer Yep...I did not want to show the engine I used for Mario Fusion, and that one had the concept I wanted to do, which is Mario + Metal Slug. I showed this one because I wanted to show that I DID make a platforming engine (which is really a heavily modified existing platforming engine for Game Maker). I was so short on time, so I showed this game haha

  • This game looks awesome but ugh the character moves so slow

  • This looks a lot like the game ActRaiser.

  • It's no MKF but it's awesome.

    You should put it on the forum on a completely random date to keep us eager fans busy.

  • My only big complaint is that those big guys with the swords can't seem to beaten without attrition. Yeah, I know, they fart out hearts once dead, but I like it when there's a chance to avoid an attack.

    Still, never though Rastan would seem at home in Drac's crib.

  • Yeah, I had just five days time to make this for my final project, so I did not have time to balance those big enemies out.

  • Goddamn! The sound effect is so over the top. Slash and kill one tiny pawn enemy - KABOOM !

    I'm working on a hack 'n' slash game myself, with Game Maker lite and I'm wondering where you get the sprites from? Do you rip them yourself?

    Also, sorry for my bad grammar, I'm Swedish.

  • You know, hypothetically speaking JS, if you were to expand this, it would be interesting to see this w/ more expanded stages from other adventure hack n slashes and other chars. (Golden Axe main heroes, The Master from Actraiser, Arthur, among others)

  • I'm amazed that there wasn't a final boss included with this level, or perhaps you didn't have the time. In retrospect, the gameplay looked rather decent, which I only said because I thought the movement of the protagonist was a bit sluggish. The controls, however, responded very well and there was so much going on in one level. It looks solid, man!

  • Haha you probably couldve just got away using MKF as your project. I made a game for a final project too, well a game engine. Nothing I don't think I'm ever going to work on again :(

    I really like the engine design here. Specifically, I like the slip-slidey controls so if you time it right, you avoid taking damage after hitting tougher enemies. I do wish you'd given Rastan -- pardon, given "Conan" his downward thrust, though. That was a very helpful move.

  • It's a class project game. And it looks really good JudgeSpear. The game mechanics are impressive and the soundtrack EPIC. Maybe the only con is the game speed and slow descent of the jumping. Other than that, great game.

  • Yeah, the game slowed down quite badly as I was recording it with SnagIt. It runs somewhat faster than the video shows.

  • The gameplay is like something from the arcades. And the name is original too. Looks good!
