  • LOLZ!!! so vice city-esque!

  • Did they have to make a cartoon video because Martin Fry was being treated for cancer at this time?

  • This is the original version released in 1984, its a far better version than the album one released in 1985 - can you get this in digital form so can go on ipod?

  • Gr8

  • Love the song but video sucked. I want 2 C the group.

  • pounds dollar millionaire dollar!!!

  • Gr8 80s song. Luv it. I wish I was a millionaire.

  • Wish I could just go back to these days...just for a week. The 80's ROCKED!!!

  • I agree with you...living through it once wasn't enough for me........where did I put that darn flux capacitor for the Delorean?

  • this song is rockin.its far out

  • Take it from a heavy metal guy. ABC rocks

  • ABC forever!

  • 'i've seen the future i cant afford it' never more bloody true.

  • What a great time to grow up. the 80's music was the best!

  • yes it was.............

  • ONLY UNTIL '86

  • i rememeber this song! thanks for posting it!

  • We do spend on luxuries, jacuzzi in my home, indoor pool, more than one car, have clothes gucci etc., a view to die for, diamonds, buying GOLD and PROPERTY is a luxury. GOOD FORTUNE TO ALL!!!

  • exelent cartoon grafix for an 80's music vid

  • My sister was the one whom would listen to these katz ,I was really really young ....I did not even know what a bill was! Still good tunes.

  • Most millionnaires don't spend their money on all those luxuries. That's why they stay millionaires! One of the biggest misconceptions of modern times. Unless they buy things that only appraise in value like art, gold and property.

  • perfect SONG FOR THE bailout for Aig Wells fargo, B of a and other failed bank and institutions, thanks BUSHAMA

  • Exactly! Or just run a company into the ground and then get a multi-million dollar parachute when you leave.

  • the only option was financial collapse. the stim bill was needed....thanks bush!

  • I love ABC!!! You're the coolest Martin

  • Kinda like "the real ghostbusters animation" fun!

  • For a video hosted by UMG --- You figure the audio and picture quality would be better.

They want dominance over the rights to what they consider "Their" properties, yet THIS is what they choose to protect ? Where's the quality ?

  • this would've been the perfect song for THE GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY soundtrack. it captures the 80's decade of decadence perfectly.

  • They used it in Vice City Stories, fool!

  • OOOHHH...so sad!!! Longing for the real MTV when this stuff RULED!!!!

  • Great band. Song is still heard as an instrumental whenever Regis Philbin is on Letterman. Listen for it next time Paul and the band play him on.

  • this mucis video remine me some of

    the old anime movies

  • this video reminds me of the heavy metal movie

  • YES!!!! TELL ME!!!!! ABC ROCKS!!

  • Animated music videos are fascinating! With ABC, it's a standout!

  • Always great to hear these synth-pop bands from th 80's...brings back good memories...and reminds me how much music SUCKS in this decade...bands today will never be remembered in 20-30 years like the great bands from the 80's!!!

  • 80's to the max I love it!

  • Totally! To the max!

  • visit tinyurl(.) com/dcw2hr to learn how to be a millionaire

basically use php to make an all previous versions of wikipedia then put ads on your more complete version of wikipedia

form an llc or corporation then vend people shares at a PE ratio thus a mere few hundred K revenue is a few million of value

  • this video should have gotten an award for its walt disneyesqe look and the song is so full of tension and energy!!!!! I might have a panic attack!

    Anyone have "15 Story Halo"?

  • I love "15 Story Halo"! I love that album and that song as well as "Tower of London", "Fear of the World" and "Ocean Blue".

  • Ya because people who sell weed are always so rich...

  • Yeah, is that what you tell your welfare case worker when they drop off that box of missing the labels canned goods?

  • My favourite ABC song!

  • great song !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want a version without voices/singing/vocals

  • This song seems so relevent to today...

"I've seen the future, I can't afford it,

Tell me the truth sir, someone just bought it..."

  • I had the vinyl of this and Mine didn't have the "hi, I'm Eden.. " in it.

    I still feel ripped off!

  • Lame! We had the Eden part on the cassette. At the age of 8 I didn't really quite know what she said.

  • This is great on Vice City Stories!

  • kinda looks like geoge stobart from the broken sword video games

  • Or you can use iMacros.

  • really good song, terribly animated video.

  • the gta vice city stories version is better than this version -,-

  • The visuals to this great song are shallow. They are a poor reflection of the spirit of the song.

  • Tell me, tell me-how to be a MILLIONAIRE! My fave ABC album How to be a Zillionaire! But my fave track off that album has to Be Near Me-reminds me of Sprintime that track.

  • dunno, i was into this sort of stuff for a short period in the mid 80's. thank god i found hardcore punk. you put this up next to minor threat and the bad brains and sort of have to just laugh at how hokey the disco synthpop sounds. 80's had great timeless music but it was waaaayyyyy underground, same as today.

  • yes, great animation... still looks great today

  • Like this animation of ABC! The song still rocks! And that question still is what we all ask even today! Quite timeless...

  • I have not seen this video since it was new in the '80s, and in fact I couldn't remember the name of the group till I encountered this on YouTube. All I remembered was "Tell me, tell me / How to be / A millionaire" and the cartoon look of the video.

Yes, I am old now. I know that.

  • For me the same, I only knew the words: "Tell me/ How To Be/ A millionaire" and now I see the video for the first time.

  • I knew the future - THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE - NEW MUSIC 89 KCFV - and we played the stuffing out of great ABC songs like this one "back in the day"! Great video!

I wish I could afford to bring this group to St. Louis --- maybe someone could tell me how to be a millionaire so I can do that.

  • ABC ROCK!!!!

  • ABC - The most underated British Band ever! They just kept getting betterand better with age. Beauty Stab & Look of Love album were good, but How to be a zillionaire, King without a crown were better, followed by their later stuff one better love etc! Always did great cross-over music and kept true to their fans! Fuckin love 'em!

  • He sounds like Robin Leach when he sings the refrain "how to be." Always wondered if that was deliberate.

  • I just noticed that..by golly I think it might be deliberate at that.

  • i was 12 when this came out but i was already a fan of abc...i heard poison arrow and i heard duran duran doing rio and it made me want to play bass so badly...so now im 35 a bass player and i look back on all this stuff and i just have to smile..thank you very much for posting this video!

    D

  • Good video.

    Good song.

    I dig it!

  • wonderful ... when i was young

  • "I've seen the future, I can't afford it!" Martin Fry is psychic.

I love this band, this song and this album!

  • Brilliant brilliant tune - hiphop meets blue eyed pop, very clever, very original and I'm glad it was a smash in the U.S. - would love to hear the other mixes...should be remixed by some hiphop act today!

  • this are from gta vice city stories

  • I have the ALBUM. lol

  • I was 14 in 1985 and thought Martin (and that voice) was sooo sexy. Now at 30 something I still do ;0)

  • Youtube makes me feel old. It's amazing. I remember spending hours with my finger poised over the record button of my cassette player waiting for my favorite songs. That was old school music piracy. Kids have it too easy these days. 14 in '85 also.

  • Haha, that was all of us 1980's kids. So true!

  • excellent comment mate!!!!! well said!!!

  • Dude.. I am so there with you.. I remember making "mix tapes" off the radio.. and vinyl of course...

Did you ever go get an album/cassette and listen to it endlessly for days because it was new?

I remember doing that with several.. Sparks: Angst in My Pants, and Soft Cell: Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret

  • i was 30 in '85 this song a soundtrack to being 30something in that era it really captures it and it just really rocks love it love it love it

best song out of many many excellent songs of that time

  • I was 14 in '85, and thought it was the most awesome song in the world. Never saw the video until Youtube. It's simply amazing that I was unable to realize just how gay ABC was.

    Nonetheless, still an awesome song.

  • All I can say is....if you were not there you missed, if you hear it now you should slap your mother for being late!

  • Man, that was the jam! Gotta love those beats and the flying cards in the video.

  • priceless! <3<3

  • There is a fantastic 12" of this track, anybody has it?

  • I think I do, can't convert it to digital unfortunately.

  • I have many different 12" remixes of this...on vynil and CD - import and domestic. I'll sell them... for A MILLION DOLLARS!

  • I herd this song on Grand Theft Auto Vicecity Stories and fell in love with it. Give it up to rockstar to get a good list of songs besides gta iv. That sucked.

  • I listened to that soundtrack to much. I wish I lived in the 80s

  • (preppy voice) Like oh my god. Me to. lol.

  • Same here...

  • i like this song...i didnt realize that it was ABC until i saw the video...i play it alot now that its on my pod

  • Gr8 Song. I first heard it on Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories.

  • loved this the first time around in the 80s. It's featured on Grand Theft Auto? Interesting! Thanks for the info, spanishfan.

  • tell me... how to be a millionaire... very cool song. after all this years.

  • Classic!

  • 'Iv'e Seen The Future,i can't Afford it!......Noooooo'

    Great song! Great Video.

  • badass!!!

  • those glamorous, materialistic 80's yuppies.the words still ring true more than 25 years later.

  • this seems like a diffrent verson than the one i heard.

    i like htis one better

  • This is different from the cut I have. I like it better, too.

  • You are right, i have the other version ( with the guitarsolo and more on going beat )

I totally forgot about this version, but i remember that this was indeed the videoclip version.

I first saw the video in late 1984

    Greetings from Holland,

    Budi

  • I don't know, the album version is more dramatic than this one, I like it more, this one is more calm and subtle, either way, a GREAT track.

  • In those days, I think I remember having at least three, if not more, remixes of this song. I'm pretty sure, though, that this video here is the "official" radio release...

  • "Ive seen the future, I cant afford it"

Damn right. Food and gas prices r through the roof.

  • Nice animation, I'll admit.

  • When greed was good

  • Classic

  • OMGGGGG.... scored tickets to see ABC with the 80s Regeneration Tour... anyone know if Martin still wears those skinny pants? God how I love those pants...

  • i've seen the future. its expensive gas. i can't afford it. thanks president bush

  • wunderbar

  • Reminds me of a time when everything seemed right with the world.

  • I love this crap! All that Euro Trash was so hot in the clubs here if Fla. Reminds me of simpler times.

  • I think this song is hot.... I love the 80's and I love GTA ViceCity stories because this song was on there.

  • really awesome.

  • i see this song as the soundtrack on some yappi films of the 80's .....cool 'n' hot!

  • I was living in Kathmandu when this came out. Peter's sister Ann sent this song to him three times.

  • i used to love this stuff....crazy crazy man

  • How in the name of jebus is this Disturbing???? It's the 80's man!!! This was CUTTING EDGE! NICE! Thanks for sharing!!

  • Good point, alot of the cartoons during this time used this style of animation.

  • ABC's new album is out soon!

  • there still a band????

  • Great song, of course today it would be called "How to be a billionaire" ;)

  • From one of their best albums How To Be A Ziilionaire. Always were a great Band

  • Thanks for this great...Wonderful Video!

    I love this RECORD

  • this video was a inspiration to the video-Music(Madona)

  • The animation in this video is kind of disturbing.

  • Disturbing was the intent.

  • I thought this was a brilliant comment on

    80's out-of-control materialism.

  • love this song, so simple, powerful monumental, throbbing practically, it should have been bigger hit, dance, dance, dance.

  • This was an enormous part of Detroit Techno D.J.'s mix collection in the 80's. Sometimes they would just play it as is on urban radio.

  • i meant to write Don Bleuth.

  • tight song i remeber this from ABC. Did DO Bleuth do this animation? great video.

  • Wow the animation look similar compared to the Alvin and Chipmunks series in the 1980s.

  • How do you know they are attempting to be funny and adding members to enhance a sense of coolness westsidecamper? Great song from a great band. An imaginative and brave song. How to be a Zillionaire was massive in the states.

  • THANX for the music

  • One of my fave singles! First time seeing the vid. Brill stuff, cheers.

  • flashback to the exchange, oxford st sydney 1985/6. so fun.

  • And b4 that it was called Patches, those were the days 4 sure & of course that was where Marilyn was beat up, poor Maz.

  • i love this song!

  • Can't believe it's my first time to see this video!

  • I wonder what the story was behind Fry and White recruiting a mole dressed as a person, and a prostitute for this album, neither of whom actually did anything in the band? Was it the result of a competition to join the band on the back of packets of Durex, or similar?

  • thanks for the heads up westside

  • what the mind can conceive - the mind can achieve

  • "Who needs the moon when we've got the STARS"

    ABC - 'A to Z'

  • What was the one with

"howdy disco citizens, I'm David Yarritu,

I might be tiny, but I'm strong"

    And

    "Hi, i'm Eden

    And I'd like you

    To eat my snatch"

    in the lyrics?

    Thanks

  • Yeah, "kiss my snatch". Nice.

  • [[ What was the one with

"howdy disco citizens, I'm David Yarritu,

I might be tiny, but I'm strong"

    And

    "Hi, i'm Eden

    And I'd like you

    To eat my snatch"

    in the lyrics?]]

You're thinking of the track "A to Z."

  • thanks, thats the one. not quite a crowning moment but a good song :)

  • Uhhh...as to Eden's line, I believe it was "kiss", rather than "eat".

Still have the vinyl somewhere around here.

  • Bluth frickin' rocks! ABC as well!

  • Best exemplified the 80's and what was to come.

    Brilliant!

  • Just think, when this video came out, Bill Gates was just becoming a millionaire off of MS-DOS!

  • And just think...with all that money, he still can't find a decent barber.

    POOR role model...

  • How did they think of these songs back then? Brilliant!

  • really tell me how to be a millionaire pleaseeeee!!!!

  • You can't afford it.

  • つい忘れてたなぁw

    こんな時代もあったね ABC Σd(゚∀゚d)ォゥィェ!!!

  • Best vrsion of the single around, the 7inch and albumones suck.

Audio seems to be tweaked too much, but doesn't spoil the beauty of this video.

  • en gta vice city stories

the best song in radio Wave 103

    la mejor cancion de GTA

  • I remember at the time I worked in the music biz in the 80's. Phonogram were the happening label and Polygram had such a range of labels, all doing their own thing in A & R and signing great bands. I remember Phonogram marketing not knowing what to do with ABC at this time. They wrote on some promotion material...'ABC. Maybe out of fashion but never out of style'. This track was ahead of its time by far. It was four years too early to chart high on the UK. Great song from a great band.

  • best animation song in the 80´s^^

  • Used to love this video as a kid!

  • It's strange seeing Martin Fry as a cartoon.

  • the hell?

  • one of my favorite 80s groups...thanx 4 posting this!!!

  • weee one of the best 80s song

  • Something is screwy with the audio. It sounds like my speakers are in a pillow. There are better versions of this on youtube, but they have long gay intros.

  • HAHAHA FUCKEN FUNNY
