This shows the rise of Italians in America. When they got here in the late 19th-early 20th century, most were poor, working class families, taking jobs like miners, masons, and cooks. Today, Italian-Americans are rich and prominent and in many sectors of society.
Maybe the Figure(which scares the shit out of me) is....the ghost of one of his decendants from Sicily visiting him in a dream. Maybe they don't approve of his life of crime. Or is this his guilt manifesting itself. His subconcous mind must be like a sea of putridity. I don't know.... It's a great scene in a great great show.
No doubt this was Home Box's (HBO, kids!) greatest show EVER. And that's that, man. Nothing else. I could hope "Boardwalk Empire" can take it's place...but that just won't happen. It is a great historical piece, but it can't match Tony & Co.. Never.
@southcanada I agree, it seems to be because she looms so large in his life, like the woman in the doorway of the house Tony saw in his hallucination when he was in the hospital with his septic gunshot wound.

The house and mood remind me of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. One of the creepiest Soprano-scenes.
