I couldn't remember the name of this song for such a long time now, now that ive found it i can finally enjoy it in all of its beauty. Thank you so much
GodDAMN how I love this song...amazingly crafted, almost a shame it's less than 3 min long...though that would kind of go against the beauty of it, eh?
My first thought when I've heard them was :WOW they sound like Kaiser Chiefs...And second was :Wait they sound like Kaiser Chiefs because this indie rock...How clever I am?!(yes I'm joking)
This is like Editors and The Ramones came together and made this. Awesome. I think I've been waiting for something like this. Very punk style guitar, yet the voice is very refined.
What a band! I missed even tho i got into bloc party, franz and maximo park at the same times, but this is a great song! Is it the remix on the single version or the original mix on the album?
by the way...great song, love the video ( could almost swear i was watching an XTC clip from 1981)...debut album is great,and.. this is one of the better songs on it..kate bush cover "hounds of love" is also excellent..but the are many cool songs on the record..
contd>: post punk 101 (without sounding like a pompous git):for starters:essential albums
Gang of Four: Entertainment,Magazine: Real Life,Orange Juice: You can't Hide your love forever,Echo and the bunnymen: Crocodiles
Joy Division: Closer,The Fall: Live at the Witch trials,XTC : first 2 albums, The Jam: All mod cons...Arctic monkeys, the killers, the strokes, the futureheads, interpol, f ferdinand have all digested these albums: Go forth and do likewise, my children...
contd>..retro 80s is ok as long as it's done intelligently (the strokes sound like television, franz ferdinand are kind of josef k/joy division, interpol more echo and the bunnymen).1 good thing about this "retroism" is that it at least shines a light on a fruitful era of guitar based music that was commercially overlooked ( Gang of Four, Comsat Angels, orange juice, etc)..so kids,KNOW YOUR MUSIC, look up the classics: here's some classic lps from an old fart post punk like myself:contd>
jordinyc: Led zeppelin? Nirvana?.do you even know what you're talking about?..wrong decade, pal..the futureheads influences (for anybody who remembers the punk/post punk sound of the late 70s early 80s) obviously lie in groups such as the Jam, XTC, Gang of Four ( their debut album was even partly produced by Andy Gill, guitarist of the GOF)...there is not ONE decibel of led zeppelin (or nirvana for that matter) in their sound or attitude...contd>
I'm a survivor of the 80's. Seeing all the retro is like being a vietnam or gulf war vet when a car backfires. Do i REALLY have to relive this? Still, as much as I hate hate HAAAATE 80's retro (including this video), Futureheads as a band actually do a good job of making use of the more classical and cool aspects of bands from back then. All I can say is thank GOD for my Led Zeppelin and Nirvana albums.
