Hey :) Very helpful demonstration. I really want to get this POD to start recording. i have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering..did you have to purchase POD farm separately, or the power supply? Did your pod come with ableton? or do you use it with your own DAW? can you easily make your tones or download patches/tones? And can you take it anywhere to practice, or do you have to have it hooked to a pc or something?
How hard is it to change the settings? I noticed on things like the foor POD plus it has knobs to select the effects like, tremolo or tron. But on the LiveXT I only see the standard knobs (Bass, middle, treble, etc) how do you select the effects and how would you put them on a preset?
I just bought one on ebay for $225 with all the model packs in mint condition! The model packs cost $49 each from line 6. It even has the bass expansion pack which is $ 100 from Line 6. Soooo, if you want one check ebay! The pedal is amazing! Endless tones downloadable from the custom online library staraight to the XT. You can also upload your own tones for other people to use!
dude i got offered one of these for $360... you think i should buy it?? i got the money but i just dont want to spend it unless its a really good deal...thanks
i got this like 2 years ago and let me tell you i havent seen anything like it. i bought mine at my local guitar center, and it just rips. im pretty sure it will bleed your pockets a good 300-350$ USD that is
ok i love your skills man. BUT this doesnt really show what the POD can do. cause i can get that sound with my amp. you try demonstrating other features of it. like the other amp models besides the high gain one you just used. and other stuff like delay types and overdrive pedals. other than that you really sound awesome!

I1d rather hear a slower more accurate solo than a full speed sloppy one , each note sounded sweet so kudos to the guitarist.I`ve been a maiden fan for 30 years and this solo sounded cool . XD
hey man latency is basically the difference between strumming the chord and hearing it played back so its hwo fast audio can stream so low latency is preferable
I use the xt live with a mesa boogie 100 watt 2x12 tube amp. If I want to use the Pod for distortion, I have to turn the gain way down on my amp and play through the clean channel. I like my amps natural dist and mainly use the Pod for Delay,Chorus,EQ.
I posted a comment here a couple weeks ago. I have to turn the gain control on my amp below 1 on the clean channel if I plug the XT in front of the amp. Through the loop, I can play very loud w/o any noise. Make sure you set the output mode on the XT for what you are plugging into. I had to sacrifice all the gain on my amp to use the XT distortion.
i dont understand you.. u have line 6 x3 pod live and u record with ur camera?ur pod is card sound u can record itt with best sound download audacity wich is recording software and start recording check my video for see what i mean for more help abbout that u can send me a messege cya
I don't know what he was using, but for really hi-gain stuff your best bet is to get the Metal Shop pack from the Line 6 site. The best models for thrash would probably be Line 6 Insane or the Criminal (5150 model).
i am so fucking sick of people flaming this guy whoever he is for his playing. who gives two fucking shits that his version is slower. it sounds fine so can everybody just shut the fuck up
Am i right in thinking its best to have the most neutral setting possible for these kind of processors?
E.g. I would run it (if Santa Claus is nice this year) through a keyboard amp for the ultimate neutral speaker. That'd make most use of the amp models, right?
You got it right! This sort of processor can be run through a guitar amp but that will colour the sound somewhat. To get a more accurate impression of the models you need either to go direct to the PA or a keyboard amp
no no no. what you need is to run through a well made bass amp with a correctly built cab. bass amps have the ability to cover the complete spectrum sounds and if set up right, can even be used for screaming hot leads. i run my pod through a bass cab live or a good PA.

Well, I only got my XT Live a few days ago, and it does have four or five octave/harmonizer effects, but I haven't messed with them yet to see if there is in fact a 12 string sound.. I've been so hooked on Gearbox I find myself wondering where the last six hours went..lol. If you or anyone comes across a 12 string on it, please let me know. I'll do the same.
you cant make it go directly through a cab, cause you need a power amp. So what you could do is get a head with a cab, and then run the pod through the FX loop

@christianfirst111 really any amp will work. All you'll have to do is play with the EQ on your amp, and possibly in your patch, and you can get a great sound really easily. I run my multi into a crate GFX-30, or if a want more volume a Kustom quad ST stack. Both sound incredibly similar except for volume. However, the best application for the XT is straight into a PA. (Again minor EQing aside) It'll sound amazing.
Good solo! I personally dont like Iron Maiden much but I respect that the band's musicians are awesome.Anyways The Trooper is about 1 of my only fav songs of the band.
How do you get the best metal distortion from the xt live? and how do you manage to even the volumes in all the settings, ie: you got a distortion sound, and a clean sound and you want them to sound balanced.
What I've done is have my sound guy stand in the middle of auditorium while I switch sounds, he hollars out db levels and then I raise/lower then save as needed.
Nice sound! I've tried my Pod-XT with an older Peavy Classic Amp. The sound is very tinny and not much like he sound through headphones. I've tried may adjustments with no luck. I'm thinking, perhaps it's the amp. Any advice?
The POD's usually I'm told sound the best Direct Recorded. Meaning plug your guitar into your pod set a speaker cab emulation and plug the other end into your computer and hit record.. could also try a keyboard amp since those pretty much reproduce the original signal without messing with it like your peavy amp does.. but I'd get a 1/4 to mini adapter and try a small piece DI into your computer to test it out and see how it sounds..
You can use usb for recording. Your output mode should be at studio direct (the other ones sound very sharp imo). And I don't use a guitar-amp but a PA.
Depends on personal need, after having it for a while I now still prefer using simple setup with analog pedal(-s). Guitar->booster(BOSS ds1)->valve amp. To me it sounds a lot nicer a better than POD Xtl.
And generally I think it's better to get separate pedals rather than a big box full of crap.
Try one yourself in shop and see, some people prefer multi processors, others analog pedals.
How can I keep a delay to decay after I've switched patches? If I go to a lead tone to a rhythm tone, my delay cuts off when I hit the new patch. That's fuckin' bullshit dude..
I've got the PODXT Live and a Variax and I practice with headphones directly feeding from the pedal as I do not have an amp. When I play I get a "buzzing" sound that's slightly constant with high overdrive channels that increases dramatically when my fingers touch the strings. This happens with any mod-setting and I can't figure out what's wrong. Is it chords? My Guitar itself?
Ehm, can't really tell what's wrong with it, but it might be clipping, basically it's too loud maybe, try turning down the Volume knobs on pod xtl by a wee bit... well you get the idea..
Nah man thats electro magnetics. Pickups on your guitar get Nah mate thts electro magnetics from things in your room such as old CRT pc monitors and old TVs it happens with mine so i move to a room with less electrical equiptment so theres no interference from things in your room such as old CRT pc monitors and old TVs it happens with mine so i move to a room with less electrical equiptment so theres no interference.
is this pod xt made to just plug into the computer and let you play thru that or whats the deal, my videos suck cause my camera is shitty..but shit if i could do that then it would be awesome.. anyways anyone wanna check out my channel i am a noob at guitar i just hit the 10th month on playing and yes i suck..lol
I just love the idea of not having to lug amps to gigs if you don't have to lol...And most people don't notice the difference in clubs and stuff in terms of the nuances in sound. Hell I'd love to have all the works .. few stacks , nice rack but I'd be broke. This seems the logical solution. I heard you could still mix old school stompboxes with these gizmos. I too love the old MXRs and all that...
I did and it offered no specifics. Not that it's a big deal I just thought you might know more details if you were the one playing solo while using the Line 6 gear.
Hey :) Very helpful demonstration.

Man, I love that POD XT Live! $499.00 and you can emulate any fuckin' tone in the universe! Decent "Trooper" solo, a bit slowed down, but OK.

I don't think it is that great myself, looking forward selling my one.
Analog pedals all the way up!

Can the pod drive a cabinet or speaker on its own or do you have to run it through a amp or head unit? Thanks!
Cuzntime 4 years ago
The pod sounds best when plugged straight into a PA. So yes, there is no need for a combo or head unit.

Thank you!
I should just break down and buy one.

I use the Podxtl as well ...which model did you use and are you going through a poweramp setup or what? I use the Crate PB via Line6 4x12 cab
Apologist68 4 years ago
I have no idea. (-: Read description.
Niurzgius 4 years ago
I did and it offered no specifics. Not that it's a big deal I just thought you might know more details if you were the one playing solo while using the Line 6 gear.
