  • this question may have been asked previously, but how long is the entire process from start to finish?

  • Love it. I do the same to my hair but I'm black and white. My husband is dominican

  • Ctfu ! People Are Idiots She Wrapped Her Hair Afterwards , But Very Nice

  • after you took the rollers out you looked very nice. Then you pressed your hair down with the blowdryer and it looked unnatural but ok. Then you shoved it against your head in a cinnamon roll and sorry, but I would not go out like that. A strange look but hey, to each his own. I like the roller part so I will try that and leave the rest alone!

  • @fidelcastro711 uhmm the point of the doobie is too keep ur hair straight and frizz free while ur sleeping. DUH.

  • Boring!! I don't get it what's the point???

  • Ok, you made that look way too easy. :) Love your hair.

  • LOL @ your hair blowing in the wind with the song lol your hair is pretty though! Too bad i couldnt do this on myself

  • I just got the hot brush by hot tools. I cant wait to try it after the roller set.

  • thats not a dominican blowout.. but nice results

  • great video

  • What kind of hair dyer are you using to blow out the roots?

  • were you natural when you you did the blow out?

  • i got my first blow out yesterday (becuz im goin natural) @ a Dominican beauty hair salon and I LOVE IT... my hair has never been so light and straight in my life!!! blow-outs are so much better than relaxers and perms!! but i have never felt so much heat like that in my life... its so extremely hot and i wasnt expecting all that but my mom did tell me about the heat becuz she had a blow-out herself..

  • DO you use the protein shampoo and conditioner they use at that salons?? do u know that name of it?

  • Hi i am a new stylist here in the Atlanta area from Ohio and everyone is raving about this blout...is this really the way its done in the salon????? I want black women to know that an African american stylist can do it just as good as that...if not better...im tired of them getting our money!!!!

  • I have been doing this to myself since I was a little girl great for the hair!

  • That was so cool to watch.

  • Very Beautiful and pretty you have pretty hair,

  • what kind if blow dryer do u use?

  • Trying To Figure Out Why You Have 10 Dislikes . . . =/

  • Do you recommend blowing out the roots or flat ironing the roots? Because rollerset weekly, but can't blow the roots out correctly with the blow dryer, so I use a flat iron.

  • @jaydee4209 blow dryer is less damaging to your hair, and give you a fuller look compared to the flat iron

  • i wish i could see this done on natural hair. idk how i'd pull this off. the curls would be wavy.

  • why not just wear a doo-rag? that would be easier, no?

  • did you put anything on your hair when u put the rollers in????

  • hay wat product did u use for the roller set? they came out pretty

  • what kind of blow dryer is that?

  • Does this work with natural hair?

  • @sekushinonyanko I have seen naturals walk out of the Dominican Salons with bone straight hair so yes, it can be done!

  • @alraines I want to know if this is exactly how its done in the salon...I am a hairstylist in the Atlanta area and im tired of women thinkin that African-American hairstylist cant do this...im tired of them getting our money!!!!

  • what is the moisturizing lotion that you use on your hair?

  • so after u doobie wrap it...its finished?

  • i have a question, im puertorican and i guess from all the gel and hairspray my hair is damaged!!!! now i will like to now what type of products did you use before you put the rollers...thank you

  • Where did you get that blow dryer?

  • @aroyale23 It is a Hot brush by HOT TOOLS. I got it from my hubby as a gift.

  • how do u make ur rollers stay on??? my hair is to my lower back and it is a pain to roller set

  • @giggles954 -Use good tension on the roller and use metal alligator clips (2-prong) in order to hold the roller in place.

  • luv it

  • Nice.... Very helpful...

  • i'm not sure I am doing this right - but what type of blowdryer are you using after you tale down you hair.

  • @princessmeeche77 Hot brush by Hot Tools

  • Good Job girlfriend! You betta work!

  • what dryer do you use? im desperate to buy one but have no clue what brand is good?

  • What products do you use during the process?

  • gurl ur hair is beautiful..but y u look so angry..smile mami!

  • what kind of blow dryer is that and where can you purchase one like it? it seems much easier to use by yourself than a regular blow dryer.

  • thats not a doobie.. thats a rap

  • doobie is what dominicans call it...

  • OMG this is awesome!!

what did you put in your hair before roller setting it?

  • now thats a professional!!!!!!!

  • Thank u for this video!!

  • its a tubie not a doobie.

  • @TheLauradelarosa27 I'm no expert but have always heard it referred to as "doobie"

  • @alraines I've always heard the term to be "doobie" myself. (Sorry, just my two cents.) Good vid!

  • @alraines its a doobie...wtf is a tubie

  • @alraines its a doobie...wth is a tubie,

  • @TheLauradelarosa27 I NEVER heard of a TUBIE wth....

  • oye, what kind of hand dryer was that?

  • @fhbklyn Its a hot brush by HOT TOOLS

  • Great video. I usually get my hair flatironed about every two months when I go to the salon for a trim. I've always wanted to know how to do a "doobie". I used to watch my mom do it but could never seem to get it right when I did my own hair. Now I know you have to really brush it into place and use lots of pins.

  • LMAO ooo M g u r too funny with the music and shaking ur hair ...

  • Hi, and thanks for sharing!! I have a ? though...exactly what type blowdryer to use?

  • Where did you get the hood dryer and how much was it?

  • no u need a sassy wrap

  • you should have put some Pirco Ripio to the vid

  • yea good question does that dryer do the bottom row good thats my number one issue besides how hot it is and long the wait is lmao.

  • thats the dryer i wanna get!!! does it dry the bottom rollers ok?

  • I loved both of your videos. Your hair is absolutely beautiful. My hair is as thick as yours, and a bit longer. I relax only twice a year, with half of a relaxer. And I wash once a week, and my hair has grown. I only use hair polisher and creme a nature repair conditioner. But I don't use Kera Kare. I think that is what you used. Is it a cream or a hair polisher?

  • are you dominican?

  • I am dominican and i do doobies (: my mom doesnt it for me cause i cant do it by myself and when i wake up with it my hair is still good :)

  • Lol I loved it. Very informative. Es un trabajo mantener nuestro cabello dominicano. Love the video!!

  • First of all I love what you did. Did you put in a deep conditioner first or something cause my hair is thick and I don't relax. Does this style make your hair grow cause I"m doing a hair journey.

  • what steam blower do you use ?

  • serious question here. a) was your hair natural when you started, how tight is your original curl and what texture is your hair b)how long does your hair STAY straight after doing this c)how damaging is this technique d)how often is it safe to do this consecutively without getting too much heat damage/breakage..once a week, once a month, less? if you've got answers i'd appreciate them. i'm really interested in this dominican blowout technique..had never heard of it before today.

  • My original texture is 3a and 3b, more wavy then coily. I am not natural. I texlax 3-4 times a year. My hair stays this way for a week, would last longer but I wash my hair weekly. The heat is damaging so I wouldn't do this more than once a month. I only personally do this once every 2 months or even less. This video was to show the technique but I usually go to the Dominican Salon for this.

  • Whats the purpose of putting all of those pins in your hair after you've wrapped the hair? Is it to keep the hair in place?

  • Yes, the pins keep the hair in place and that is how a traditional "doobie" is done in a Dominican salon.

  • Excellent Demo! Beautiful Hair & Styling. I can do this Now! Thank You!

  • what did you do to your hair before going under the hair dryer?

  • Thanks for the education on doobies!I live in Alabama and alot of women from up north come into my salon asking for a Doobie and i have'nt the slightest thing they are talking about! What is texlaxed?

  • texlaxed isike a texturizer, its like relaxing for 5-10 min, just enough to get it semi straight

  • oh okay thats what i thought.

  • Loved the tutorial. I love that you dont feel the need for excessive talking the way that a lot of other youtubers do and the music was spot on for the piece. Keep 'em coming and thanks!

  • I hope you record another video with the rollers and the silk scarf tied. here in Brazil the women wear the scarf silk on the rollers the hair is soft and beautiful

  • What is the benefit of the doobie? What did you do after you put your hair into the doobie? Do you go back under the dryer? You have beautiful hair!!

  • The doobie just keeps a silky wrap in place. I just put on a silk scarf and thats it! :-)

  • Great video,i have bee wraping my hair wrong all this time! thank you, keep producung helpfula and easy to do vids!

  • This is by far ONE of THE best videos that I've seen on Youtube or other public forums regarding hair styling/step by step segments.

I'll have to try the Kera-Care product, I use Mizani but it seems to change the color of my hair (too strong) or something.

What type of leave-in conditioners do you use before putting your hair in the rollers? Do you think that Biolage is a good product? Thanks for sharing...

  • your viedo was well done need a set by step on the blow out had it once feel a sleep it took so long so i didn't know if i was missing something

  • thanks for showing this video..i just watched a professional vid on here and I was kinda intimidated to try it, but then i see that you are doing your own..and I can do my own hair pretty good, so i will definitely give this a try...i used the wet 2 straight the other day, and i liked that but it didnt not give as much shine and body as this method...but your video encourages me to give this a try..never heard of this until today..

  • your hair is bangin, are you doing the blow out on natural hair? and if so if you add water does it revert back to natural?

  • My hair is not natural, its texlaxed.

  • Dominican Hair Salon By Massiel - Natural Hair Blow-out

they do a nice natural hair blow out

  • SISTAH GIRL YOU look absolutely amazing, thank you for the reveal!

  • Have you ever had experience using silk scarf on the rollers to dry? takes longer but does not damage the hair. is more beautiful. I do this in women who come to me to treat hair

  • Girl you are a beast!

  • that's a lot of work.

  • How come i can't stay under the hair dryer for a long time at home? Lol I can stay under it at the hair dresser though...Love the song you have playing, and it soothes my nerves. ; )

  • my dominican hairsytlist does that bu the blow dry part burns but its worth it

  • please please tell me where you got that blow dryer attachment!!! PLEASE PLEASE!!!

  • love this vid. I think that paddle brush would get stuck in my head though...lol

  • You make it look so easy.

  • what was the purpose of roller setting your hair if you are going to brush it out and wrap it and then wear it straight??? Is it just for drying purposes?

  • its because her hair is too thick to wrap it and go under the dryer. its better to roller set because it dries faster and uniformly and its less damaging than a blow dry

  • U can say that plus it semi straightens the hair and it comes out alot flatter and straighter than it normally would if u just blow dryed it the normal way. This way reduces the amount of heat u use in ur hair so u don't have to go back and flat iron it. Heat works but it can really damage ya hair if u do too much

  • did this really only take you 9 mins

  • You can see where she stopped and fast forwarded some parts.

  • I like this vid, I only had it done w/hairpins the next day or a few hrs, take it down w/out the hair dryer..nothing like it!!

  • HI can you tell me what product you used to set your hair on the rollers? and what is the name of the keriKare cream you put on for moisturizer? Also what tool was that you used to blow dry your new growth...I have not seen one of those before..

    Regards,

    Kimberly

  • I just wanted to let you know that although I haven't tried the blowout illustrated in this video, the way you wrapped your hair in the video helped me achieve my first ever perfect wrap. Thank you so much!

  • Great video! I'm just learning how to do hair and looking up every tip out there....

  • love this video...AND the music selection! i was jammin! haha!!! thanks, this really helps!

  • Instant favorite! Thanks so much for walking us through this! :) And great music, too!

  • your hair came out really good!!! you said a brush by HOT TOOLS????? but its a cerain blwer ? can I find it in most beauty supply storesw?? tahnks for the feed back.

  • You can find it at marshalls, tjmaxx and ross sometimes. You can also search online to see where you can get it shipped to you from.

  • Wait I'm confused. Why did you sit under the dryer with a head fill of rollers and then just brush out the curls??

  • That is how a Dominican set is done. The rollers add body and bounce to the hair and then the "doobie" flatens out the hair for a nice straight style that has bounce.

  • K thnx for explaining!

  • that blow dryer is great what name brand is it? I got the red one.

  • Its a hot brush by HOT TOOLS.

  • Wow! .. U are really beautiful ..

    I wish I had your face ... Brows & lips especially .. :$

  • what is the name of your blow dryer?

  • r u using a vacum!!

  • YOu Did Pretty well, i do my cousin whose hair is down to her back so i dont wrap it, and usually kep the curls in a little more, but all n all it was a good video...

  • Beautiful hair! Although I don't think your roots needed to be blown out. But hey obviously it's working!!! Your hair is to die for!

  • awesome vid mrs raines!!!

  • nice

  • I have to tell you your hair is gorgeous and has inspired me to take better care of mine :)

Think I'm gonna run out and give that hot tools air brush a shot! Thanks for your videos!

  • I don't know if you was asked this already but what is the name of the blow dryer that you used to do the blowout also which one is recommended for getting a really good blowout. Thanks

  • Its called Twin Turbo but all you really need is a high temp dryer and the attachment.

  • You look like a doll baby. Your hair is gorgeous. Relaxed or natural, we can have long healthy hair, and your video proves that. Thanks...Helen

  • Hi...

Thank you for ur tutorial..it was VERY helpful for me and I'm sure too many other women here, but I wanted to know what is the hard hat dryer brand..i couldn't make it out..is it the small one u place on the table or the long one that rolls with wheels?

    Thanks

  • my mommy played that song while i was growing up lol...90's baby lmao...does the blowdryer have to be a steam blowdryer??

  • i dont get what was the point of the tool u used. ur hair seemed to be very thick, curly and full of body when u took the rollers out and brushed it a lil.

  • You hair is really pretty and I want to get bowout and get a doobie!!!! And learn how 2 do it own my own.

  • where can i possibly get that blowout tool from? or is it even availabe? sorry for asking so much questions lol. im new to seeing something like that or even hear of the dominican blowout. please respond back. thnksss(:

  • they have a similar blowdryer tool at walmart it is pink n white it is in the flat iron curling iron aisle

  • thnkssss!!!

  • will this work if you don't have relaxed hair. My natural hair is like loose waves, kind of coarse though. Do you have to have relaxed hair to get these results. (It seems a lot of the videos are usually taking into acount that the viewers relax are going to relax their hair) Thanks

  • Most naturals can achieve this with the same process. Some salons however, will just offer a straight blowout if the hair is difficult to set on rollers.

  • wat kind of blow dryer is that?it looks awesome

  • Hey Ms. Raines!

I love your videos! I'm gonna drop a line in your inbox cause I have a detailed question for you! Thanks!

  • do you have a son because whe you bent your head down i shadow ran past

  • Yes I do, I have two boys and a stepdaughter...I also have a dog who likes to run from my youngest so its likely one of them or both of them you see going past.

  • do you not get imprints in your hair from the pins? while i love the look, i'm much to lazy lol i am too happy to have embraced my naturally curly hair :) but these are great tips for the once in a blue moon i decide to do this. i've always used a flat iron for my roots instead of blowing them out (cause i'm uncoordinated) i wonder which method is more harsh on the hair lol

  • I get imprints every once in a while. I never get imprints when they do my doobie in the salon?? Guess I am uncordinated too!! As for the harshest heat tool, I would say they are equal. Direct Heat is direct heat no matter how you slice it.

  • You will not get imprints if you bend the pins to a slight curve to go with the shape of your head. A lil trick I learned at out Dominican Salons here in NJ.

  • Aye! Thank you mami for this demo on doobies! As a latina woman of color. I have tried over and over to do my doobie. But it turns out to be a "don't be"lol! Anyhow do you use any other type of bomba(hair oil) on your hair? Your hair looks very healthy. Great how to video. Only 1 request....For the next video maybe a lil salsa or bachata! lol!

  • Gracias!! I do have a few videos with Oro Solido in the background..LOL!!!

  • Hey it's me again...I m going to try this demo also...How many times did you have to do this to get it right...I know my doobie is not going to look at good as your, but 'm going to give it a shot...thans for all of your hair care tips...Girl I'm about to move to Fl, so you can be my hair stylist..

  • LOL!! :-) It doesn't happen over night. Practice definitely helps!

  • hey what is the name of that dryer your using to do the blow out thanks. quick? will my hair break if i can not roller set that good.

  • Hot Tools Hot brush. Your hair should not break as long as you keep your ends moist and secured around the roller.

  • Thank you so much! I was confused about how to blow dry my roots, but you showed me exactly how to do it.

  • I want to purchase the Conair dryer, but want to find out more info from people who have it... I live in a small apt space, with the hooded dryer can you detached the bottom part with the wheels for storing?

    Thank you

  • Yes, it all detatches from the base.

  • What kind of dryer was that Ma?

  • i like your ez demo. and if i could wear and doobie wrap i would ,BUT i wear dreds . but your do show a good demo. bye. keep up the good work.

  • Loved your demonstration of the wrap. I've looked at many people on Youtube do this but you have done it so professionally and made it simple enough for me to try. Keep up the easy demos.

    Thanks

  • Hi, I would like to know who is your Dominican beautician because your hair looked really nice when you went to her. I live in Miami, FL and I hope the DOminican shop is here in Miami,FL. My hair has broken off so bad and it is damaged. Pls help a desperate black woman. LOL

  • mmm I don't recommend a Dominican blow out if your hair is damaged, the heat might just kill it even more. You should do protective styles, deep conditioning treatments, hot oil treatments, protein treatments and trims until your hair is healthy and strong then when you get a blow out your hair will be bangin'.

  • When I first saw the words "dominican blowout"I thought it was a blowdried style for natural hair. This is nothing but a roller wrap,I used to get them sometimes when I had chemically relaxed hair.

  • The blowout process is the same natural or straight. A roller wrap would not need the hair blown out before wrapping. I get roller wraps sometimes too which is when you would skip the step with the blower and go straight to the doobie. The info in this video is posted for people who asked me to do this. Trust me, if you go to a dominican salon, they are either gonna use "rollos" or they are going to straight blow the hair. I don't do that so hence, you see the rollos in my vid.

  • now, my hair looks like it might be a much nappier texture then your's when i have lots of new grow, would this still look close to as nice as yours? i'm two months post and my hair is about 2 inches shorter than your's if that helps but, the roots don't looks as nice as yours.

  • What did you do after you wrapped your hair?

    Did you tie it up?

  • You can tie it up in a scarf, I didn't because I was only showing the process. Please see the results vid!!
