  • Thanks

  • Fuck! Windows 7 seems to install some random driver when I plug in my board. It won't let me install any other drivers. It tells me the latest driver is already installed...

  • You are a lifesaver, was having a mare following Arduino instructions and yor vid has sorted it! Cheers

  • Sounds like you may have a faulty device, cable or some problem with your Windows 7 installation.

  • So what do you do when you delete the unknown device, unplug Arduino, plug it in again, and it shows up as unknown device, again?

  • thanks mate

  • but can i install Windows 7 on an Arduino?

  • You cannot install Windows 7 on an Arduino, no.

  • @hobbytronics101 just a joke =)

  • I need help please! I just got my arduino uno and i am following the instructions but when i plug the arduino in my computer does nothing, the arduino lights up like it should but my laptop doesn't start installing the drivers, i go to the device manager and there is nothing there under com and ports i tried all 4 of my usb ports and same thing happens as if my laptop doesn't read it at all just gives it power. I'm on windows 7 professional 32 bit

  • It wont be listed under the Ports in Device Manager unless you have successfully installed the drivers. Do you have an "Unknown Device" in the device manager? If so, delete the device from device manager and plug your UNO back in. Windows should recognise the device and go from there. If none of your computers even recognise the device, then it may be faulty, but first try using a different cable, because there are usb cables that are designed just for charging. Use a known woirking cable

  • @hobbytronics101 thank you thank you thank you. Got my R 3 today, was very upset when I couldn't get it set up.

  • One of the major problems I had was installing the driver... you have to select the main Arduino folder not the driver directory when installing the drivers or looking for the drivers when installing it.

  • thanks

  • You must have a much faster PC than me!

  • OH MY GOD!!!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY ARDUINO WORKING FOR THREE MONTHS!!!!! I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH!!! I AM GOING TO THUMBS UP, LIKE, RECCOMENED AND SAVE THIS VIDEO TO ALL MY PLAYLISTS!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! YOU HAVE SUCCEEDED WHERE EVERYONE ELSE FAILED!!!!!

  • Installing on XP is a similar experience, except when the driver is not found, XP asks you if you want to "Install from a specific location". Select 'next' and choose the arduino drivers directory.

There is a tutorial for XP on our website at hobbytronics.co.uk/arduino-installation

  • Thank you for the vid. Have you tried installing the arduino software on a windows xp or 7 tablet? I'm thinking of programming on a tablet and using said tablet as a hmi for home automation.
