  • Many thanks!

  • Great film, I even bought it.

  • What a beautiful movie with an extremely talented cast. Thank you so much for sharing it.

  • great movie thank you for sharing!!!

  • I wanted to see it, since they both won Golden Globes for this, no wonder why? Magnificent, Brilliant... Poliakoff has its ways... Blunt is brilliant, Nighy is spectacular, I just saw Glorious 39 and I was fascinated too...

  • Stephen Poliakoff is a truly marvellous writer. I'm a particular fan of this film and Shooting the Past and Friends and Crocodiles.

I can't help but thing of the final scene with Gideon and his daughter every time I walk along Royal Terrace in Edinburgh. Not that I've ever seen it so free of cars as it is in the film - but that's artistic license for you.

  • Fantastic, so full of emotion Thank you for Posting it.

  • who is Gideon? ...suddenly A R's question "Who is John Galt? " popped into my mind

    thank-you for posting this movie

  • what a disgusting aweful fashistoid movie

  • This is my first time seeing this film at first i was a little slow at putting together

what this movie was all about. Nevertheless I chose to stick with it. I'm sure glad.

I find this movie extremely powerful and moving. As a romantic I'm glad that Stella

& Gideon got together. Truly a first rate film. Thank you & God Bless.

  • Absolutely beautiful film, top class acting!

Many thanks for this excellent upload!

  • Thank U 4 uploading such A BEAUTIFUL MOVIE....QUITE MOVING,THANK U.

  • to reiterate a comment i saw while watching the first scene of this film ... "what a glorious, radiant movie about nothingness..." totally nonsensical and meaningless.

  • 2:00 brilliant...

  • A beautiful story.

  • Thank you for posting this movie!

  • very good show. thanks so much!

  • THERES GONNA BE ANOTHER FILM WITH BILL NIGHY, ROMOLA GARAI, and OTHERS! It's called GLORIOUS 39 by STEPHEN POLIAKOFF for the BIG SCREEN this time!! It's a British Period Drama Film set in 1939. Here's the PLOT: On the eve of World War II, while the formidable Keyes family tries to uphold their traditional way of life, their daughter Anne sees her life dramatically unravel when she stumbles upon secret recordings of the pro-appeasement movement. For more info go to Wikipedia!

  • That was wonderful *sigh* thank you so much for posting.

    Bill Nighy rocks!

  • Beautifful, I just saw it all here on youtube, this movie is Great, the stroty is touching and amazing!

The actors!!wooooo!great performance by bill nighy, no wonder he won a Golden globe award with is performance on this movie!

  • nice

  • what's the name of the music that plays when the three of them are walking?

  • Not sure about the music when the three of them are walking, I think it may have been specially composed or transcribed for the screenplay. The music at the end is Thomas Tallis': Spem in alium...

  • this film is simply great:)

  • This is one of my favorite weird-kind-of dramas. I always cry when Natasha is speaking with Gideon in the comedy club. Film that makes you think for a while, makes you appreciate what you have. I love Bill Nighy, his performance is always perfect.

  • Jeez -- Great comments! A VERY wonderful, quite moving film, one of the best I've seen! Thanks for sharing it! Outstanding cast & screenplay, beautiful.

  • thanks for the uploads :)

  • i didnt understand that why did emily and her dad actually drift apart in the first place, that she always ignored him

  • Because she resented him for being unfaithful to her mother while she was dying. Thoughtful film, thanks for putting it here.

  • because he cheated on her mum, causing them to be estranged, even as she was dying.

  • Thank you for uploading this. I've wanted to see this film for a while. It's an amazing movie. I absolutely love Bill Nighy. He's wonderful. Emily Blunt and Miranda were beautiful too. They were perfect. Poliakoff is brilliant.

It is very haunting. I have the same relationship with my dad, and this was hard for me to watch. I'm a little younger than Emily Blunt's character. This film has really made me think about everything. Is that a stupid thing to say? Of course it makes you think.

  • Thanks for uploading this... quite an interesting and haunting little film.

  • Was that Jason Manford?

  • yes it was!

  • Yeah Miranda! Good movie! I'm a bit confused by it. I think I'll have to rewatch it, since I was doing homework while watching. Oh, and I watched it for Miranda too!

  • The scene when Natasha was talking to Gideon while he was frozen was absolutely stunningly beautiful. Emily and Bill have great chemistry together! Can't wait for their new movie "Wild Target" To come out! thanks for posting!

  • All of the elements, acting, lighting, camera work, music, are superb.

Poliokoff is a master of his trade.

  • God ... at the end of the movie I cried...

Thank you sooo much for posting this movie, I never had a chance to see it ... and now I'm in love with this movie!!! And the music!

  • I have recently found the world of English films and by God they are so much better, deeper and more human then American films. Thank you for posting this and Youtube for making it possible all over the world.

  • I like both countries' films equally. not fair to diss one of them

  • It's true that suskky is generalising, but there is a bit of truth in his/her remark.

  • I like British films too, but it's not fair to diss another country.

  • Thank you a thousand times for uploading, I would never had seen it if it was not for you! It was a brilliant film and I could not do anything but cry a bit in the end. Bill Nighty was brilliant, as long with the rest of them! Great film! Thank you again!

  • Oh please can't someone upload more Poliakof films like 'Shooting the Past'? He's brilliant!!

  • Am I the only person who DID NOT watch this for Emily Blunt? Guess so. Loved it loved it loved it!!!! Thanks so much for posting!
