  • 7:54 my heart stopped

  • Here he is piercing beyond reality, transcending it. Pure metaphysics!

  • The end of this is the greatest piece of music I have ever heard in my life.

  • 3:17 to 3:30 is just epic. The terrible emotion, the fierce beauty, the agony of the piece in all, makes it better than any piece of music, whether is it a thrash metal song by rammstein or a tragic rachmaninov piano concerto, in expression of unbearable pain, intolerable hatred, or the most fiery of emotions accumulated preceding a battle against injustice.

  • @yifumian

"unbearable pain, intolerable hatred, or the most fiery of emotions accumulated preceding a battle against injustice."

Sorry, don't hear ANY of that in that passage... at best, just an undefined sense of rage or wrath, but certainly nothing specific like "battle against injustice".

    I think you're over-interpreting there ;)

  • The End. Was. Just Legendary...

  • Thanks for posting this! Wonderful.

  • that sculpture is more fitting of a Baroque composer, not Scriabin, but who cares?

  • Why cant anyon post the whole thing?

  • Scriabine president! yaaaaaahhhh I'm god now!

  • The melodiya recordings of the symphonies are far and above the best as well. I can't even listen to a different interpretation of this piece.

  • The Ecstasy of Saint Therese by Bernini

    1647-52

    Marble, height 350 cm

Cappella Cornaro, Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome

  • yessss....thank you

  • I second fabianovogt. This Melodiya recording is simply overwhelming !

  • Scriabin knew that music was the most highly evolved form of human expression. He also knew that ecstasy was the most highly evolved human emotion. He attempted to combine these two aesthetic truths in Poem of Ecstasy in his 1908 live performance in New York City, which also included the first colored-light show accompanied by specially chosen insense. An audiance member interviewed afterward stated that, "My body ceased to exist."

Ecstasy: ex-stasis, to be released from stasis or stagnation.

  • best interpretation of this masterwork!
