nokia continues to provide support for its"active" products, as apple. and, as nokia, apple dont support old systems. My old iMac doesnt have any support from apple.
after 1 year of using n900 i shifted on my 1st android phone desire s... man i still miss n900... no one can take the place of that phone... n900 has still best browser in the world... you can even scroll down in the pages in a web page by sliding which is impossible in my desire s.. man ii love this phone.. FUCK nokia.. i will never buy a nokia phone again... and i will never sell my nokia n900
What about the cool TV out cable, which ok, may now be on ipad, not sure. Expandable memory. I don't own either but would pick an n900 over the ipad any day. In part due to cost.
...Glass vs plastic screen. I like the X Terminal option much better than having to jail break. Google maps vs Ovi Maps there is no comparison. Now maybe Ovi maps on the N97,N8, and N7 since they have a magnetic compass. Apple still supports their products through updates. Nokia 2 updates and I had the n900 going on 2.5yrs. 3rd-party mms only no 1st-party ever nokia dropped the ball there. Great phone for the most part (n900), but really you can't compare the 2. Cause they both have major faults
I have a n900 and it was great somewhat, till I got a LG Optimus 3D. For the record the iPhone/iPad can do YouTube videos. It's flash that it can't play. It can multitask in a crude way. Your forgot that the n900 has an sd card slot. Yes changeable is great, but it take forever to fully charge. Apple around 2-3 hrs for a full charge. Touch capacitive vs touch resistive we know the winner there. n900 IR port TV remote (if you can make it compatiable). iPhone/iPad only with Apple TV.....
To all the Nokia HATERS; Have you even noticed that all the great new movies such as The Dark Knight, Tron Legacy... etc. The main characters use nokia devices???

@skate2spellgirl Basically, Maemo is just Debian Linux made for the Nokia tablets. It doesn't need to be rooted or jailbroken... you have access to terminal right away. There are loads of developer and hacker-friendly packages that can be used on it... i.e. the aircrack-ng suite.

@lllBADMANlll yes. N900 has at least mini USB so that you could theoretically use "real" USB with an adapter (they are very cheap or you could make one on your own). And since it runs linux a lot of USB hardware should work perfectly (for example USB Gamepads should work which would be great for emulators). Can anyone who owns a Nokia N900 check whether it works with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0?
apple doesn't use flash. they are missing out the best of the web. Does the n900 support flash? just wondering cuz my droid does and i don't know much about new nokias
@eivis13 hacking? Maemo is debian based linux, there is nothing to hack, the system is already open. But hacking with N900 is a different story ;).
By the way my N900 should arrive till next week (bought on eBay), can't wait to test it out and since I'm somehow experienced with debian based distributions (since 2006) and there are already tons of useful apps out there (for example TiEmu), I'll try to run QEMU+Win 95+Starcraft (could work) as well.

This button only comes up with the standard stock firmware. Once you make the firmware update (pr1.2 or 3), the button goes bye bye :D

@lllBADMANlll yes. N900 has at least mini USB so that you could theoretically use "real" USB with an adapter (they are very cheap or you could make one on your own). And since it runs linux a lot of USB hardware should work perfectly (for example USB Gamepads should work which would be great for emulators). Can anyone who owns a Nokia N900 check whether it works with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0?

The N900 is an ARM-based Linux UMPC with a phone grafted to it.
The iPad is a really big iPod touch.

@eivis13 hacking? Maemo is debian based linux, there is nothing to hack, the system is already open. But hacking with N900 is a different story ;).
By the way my N900 should arrive till next week (bought on eBay), can't wait to test it out and since I'm somehow experienced with debian based distributions (since 2006) and there are already tons of useful apps out there (for example TiEmu), I'll try to run QEMU+Win 95+Starcraft (could work) as well.
