@LittleVillage24 Generally, after the 2nd or 3rd generation our get speaking only or primarily English, though I am not sure if we continue to allow such large amounts of illegal immigration from Spanish speaking areas, if that will be true. But if large areas become primarily Spanish speaking, it could linger on for more generations. We have seen this is the US past, where you had areas the spoke Swedish or Irish for a few generations, but in time it pasted.

I love my country. But if I ever decide to leave it and move to..let's say France, then I'm going to learn to speak French. I'll also learn their laws and I'll obey them as well. I will encourage my children to learn French and to socially adapt to the new culture. But I will also celebrate the fourth of July and enjoy my apple pie from time to time. I've always been of the view that multiculturalism is not the precept that all cultures are equally valid, but that they may have elements that are good and bad. By adopting the good elements and removing the bad you can improve culture overall.
The concept that all cultures should exist independently of each other and are each equally valid is pluriculturalism I would say, which I disagree with.
Certainly anything can conceivably be better than it is now, why not culture?

I'm not American, so I am unaware of the problems you are facing there, but I have lived in several other countries and most people are open to other cultures for exactly that purpose. Certainly it is always a question of degree, some being more open than others, but by building relationships with others we are always sort of finding a middle ground between our personal and national cultures where we can both be satisfied. This, then, leads to gradual change.

In Oslo (the capitol of Norway) in the last 4 years every single rape where the perpetrator could be identified was committed by a person of foreign origin, e.g. somalian, muslim etc.

@suvakofin I suppose I've been lucky. I haven't had much negative experience with other cultures (including Muslims), and most of my experience is with East Asian cultures.
But... it seems unrealistic for others to suddenly drop their culture and adopt someone else's. Do you have a mechanism in mind that will allow this transition to occur? Certainly I'm not suggesting that in the meantime we allow illegal or amoral activity domestically, but don't we want them to adopt our superior elements?
Such a mechanism is called opportunism, it's rooted in all of us, this usually works in non-ethnic states such as the U.S or france, as it presents itself.
Opportunism works by drawing people to adopt customs of the society they live in, if it is prosperous or attractive enough, this could take more than one generation and the immigrant party may have it's influence on the culture itslef, yet would define itslef to be in the frame of that culture and society.
This is how it should go. Problems occur with less agile people, whos culture is highly patriarchal, who are obliged by religious decrees, and who are unable to dream and grow because of their slave morals. This is the problem of islamic immigrants.
The problem originates in Islam itslef, being very agressively and demaningly formulated, an aspect which other religions revised, or just choose to hide, but of course not all muslims choose to follow their omnipotent clergy.

@LittleVillage24 Generally, after the 2nd or 3rd generation our get speaking only or primarily English, though I am not sure if we continue to allow such large amounts of illegal immigration from Spanish speaking areas, if that will be true. But if large areas become primarily Spanish speaking, it could linger on for more generations. We have seen this is the US past, where you had areas the spoke Swedish or Irish for a few generations, but in time it pasted.

I love my country. But if I ever decide to leave it and move to..let's say France, then I'm going to learn to speak French. I'll also learn their laws and I'll obey them as well. Here's the deal: those who claim cultural relativism (which are, primarily, western continental Europeans and Anglo-American people of a more liberal persuasion), in effect, say this: we will agree with everything you think (whether true or false)...so long as we agree with it. If these same people cannot even respect (if not agree) with KKK members and homophobes, or even people with more mild views, HOW ON EARTH can they HONESTLY respect all cutures' values?

I've always been of the view that multiculturalism is not the precept that all cultures are equally valid, but that they may have elements that are good and bad. By adopting the good elements and removing the bad you can improve culture overall.
The concept that all cultures should exist independently of each other and are each equally valid is pluriculturalism I would say, which I disagree with.
Certainly anything can conceivably be better than it is now, why not culture?

I'm not American, so I am unaware of the problems you are facing there, but I have lived in several other countries and most people are open to other cultures for exactly that purpose. Certainly it is always a question of degree, some being more open than others, but by building relationships with others we are always sort of finding a middle ground between our personal and national cultures where we can both be satisfied. This, then, leads to gradual change.

@Mhyque I'm from Finland myself, so I'm not American either. But the enforced cultural relativism has taken a sinister turn in Scandinavia in recent years. In Oslo (the capitol of Norway) in the last 4 years every single rape where the perpetrator could be identified was committed by a person of foreign origin, e.g. somalian, muslim etc.
In Sweden (especially Malmö, with 1/3 of it's residents of foreign origin) there have formed several ghettos where the police are afraid to go. London = same.

- Scandinavia is not a country.
- There exists a 'kind-of but not' strict societal rule propriated by the state and police force.
- This aforementioned state elite is the one importing these, should I say, 'undesirables'.

- Pay ridiculous taxes
- Extreme tolerance, to the point of intolerance towards the ones who are branded as 'intolerant'
- Obey the law and the police force
- Do not question anything the media, universities or the government tells you, but at the same time question everything they tell you
- Do not express a dissenting opinion or you will be branded whatever's appropriate

@suvakofin Hmmm... certainly I do not support those things and think they should be abolished. I also have no problem saying that some cultures are superior to or inferior to others. I think my main point is just that no culture is perfect (Western civilization still struggles with antisemitism, rape and misogyny to a lesser degree), and hopefully we can influence other cultures to adopt our good qualities while being open to the good qualities of others.
Not that I know what those might be...

@suvakofin I suppose I've been lucky. I haven't had much negative experience with other cultures (including Muslims), and most of my experience is with East Asian cultures.
But... it seems unrealistic for others to suddenly drop their culture and adopt someone else's. Do you have a mechanism in mind that will allow this transition to occur? Certainly I'm not suggesting that in the meantime we allow illegal or amoral activity domestically, but don't we want them to adopt our superior elements?

Such a mechanism is called opportunism, it's rooted in all of us, this usually works in non-ethnic states such as the U.S or france, as it presents itself.
Opportunism works by drawing people to adopt customs of the society they live in, if it is prosperous or attractive enough, this could take more than one generation and the immigrant party may have it's influence on the culture itslef, yet would define itslef to be in the frame of that culture and society.

This is how it should go. Problems occur with less agile people, whos culture is highly patriarchal, who are obliged by religious decrees, and who are unable to dream and grow because of their slave morals. This is the problem of islamic immigrants.
The problem originates in Islam itslef, being very agressively and demaningly formulated, an aspect which other religions revised, or just choose to hide, but of course not all muslims choose to follow their omnipotent clergy.
