This was a good western. And I agree with Denise, I think Oates was smoking weed. Whatever, I always liked him and Cleef, Chandler and Forrest Tucker did a good job.
THANKS so much for posting! Being a HUGE fan of the late great John Davis Chandler, I loved watching this today for the first time. Sad that he died in early 2010. He was so good at playing nogoodniks...such a unique look, style & vooice! Truly a very underated & underused performer. I've never even heard of this 1970 Western before today! Have never seen it on TV....lots of familiar faces: Van Cleef, Forrest Chandler, Warren Oates, etc. Have a GREAT New Year!!! :-)

lee van cleef looked great in this film and was at his peak a shame holywood didnt give him some bigger roles .
