  • what did you coat the top of the box in? the part where you slide i tries plexiglass but it shaddered and just the wood was too sticky

  • Read the "Details" document - it's all explained there.

  • Can't remember exact price (maybe $200 per box). Look at the google docs link under video details for more info.

  • WOW u guys work so fast :P sick video and box

  • 1/2 or 5/8 inche

  • Made the drop in. There's already a comment reply on this.

  • awesome job. the details link was very helpful for the surfacing. thanks a lot!

p.s. how much did the lumber cost for one box?

  • I don't remember the lumber costs but it seems like it was about $80 per box.

  • hey how did you guys put the plastic on the box. did you use glue or nails?

  • Look at the details link

  • how'd you build your drop in?

  • Sorry, we don't have "Drop In Ramp" plans we just scratched it out on paper and built it. However, you can see the basic look of it in the video. It's all 2x4s. The 4 tall (main) pieces are 92 inche framing studs. It's all secured with strong deck screws which is important. Also, don't forget to include several diagonal 2x4, that's what makes it steady and not wobble. We wanted it very strong and steady.

  • so u just used smooth plywood on the top?

  • Click the "More info" link to get a link to a detailed explaination.

  • i made one for $150

  • You could also use HDPE (something something polyethelyne i think, its a great type of plastic used for jibs by all the major companies)

Pretty cheap and sometimes free if you know wehre to get it

  • HDPE is a good option - a 1/2" 4'x8' sheet is usually under $300. We took a snowboard into a local HDPE manufacturer and he let us run our board up and down the edges (as you would boardslide). It's a good surface, but the edges get shaved and nicked pretty easy so it would be important to install metal edges repairing the HDPE wouldn't be easy. (HDPE with metal edges would make a real nice box).

  • what did you use for the top layer

  • Look at the "Details" doc above

  • ive always wanted to skate on one of those

  • is there anything besides the resin that can be used for the top?

  • In the "Details" doc I mention that angle iron (or pipe) on the top edges would obviously make the top more durable and eliminate the nicking. However, the resin top slides very nice.

  • Look under the "About this Video" (above). Click the more button for a link.

  • about how much did this cost to make?

  • We made two boxes plus a 20' flat bar. If I remember right materials for both boxes were about $350-$400 (each box about $175). But I don't remember exact numbers - sorry.

  • This is weird.... but i noticed the houses and mountains in the background and i was gonna ask if you were from Utah. so i went to see your videos and sure enough your shredding it up at park city. nice video!

  • Yes Park City is awesome - thanks

  • Park city all the way!

  • polycarbonate works real well. they probably have some at home depot and it shouldn't be too expensive.

  • Hey nice video, I've been wanting to build one and well I don't know what you put on top.

Could you message me what I would put on top?

    That'd be great.

  • Select the "more" option under "About this Video" and you will see a link to some details about building the box.

    Later

  • Select the "more" option under "About this Video" for the link.

  • did you put rails on the side and what did you use for the top..i herd if you dont put rails on your edge will get stuckl in the plastic or something

  • nice.

by any chance could i just get the demensions. if so thanks

  • yeah what do you use for the top sheet... ?????

  • o and if you guys want plans look for a skateboarding fun box plan just change lenghts and measurements and size of wood

  • did u paint the resin right onto plywood?

  • The resin is slippery and yes we did paint it right on the plywood. As noted before, it will chip here and there so DO NOT use any cloth (just resin) or you will end up with splinters that would be a bad scene to fall on.

  • can u use sheet metal or plexi glass for top cuz a friend said he did but i wasnt sure if you only use that or add some stuff to it

  • does the resin work good? is it slippery?

  • did u just put resin on top of plywood??? i would really like more info on this, soo ill send an email address to you

  • sweet

  • no problem - at most autoparts stores (pep boys, or autozone) you'll find fiberglass repair kits for cars, boats, etc. A gallon of resin needs to be mixed to the correct ratio with the hardner (usually about a half ounce of hardner for 10 ounces of resin) as I mentioned - don't buy or use the cloth - just resin. You then painted or rolled it on like paint. If you want, feel free to give me an email address and I can send you details and some additional tips how to do it.

  • u ever tried lexan, its smooth and i have never really needed to wax it

  • hey ya dude i'm making a box and i need to know wut to put on the top... send me sum tips at: allstarcatcherar @ aim . com

  • Just used fiberglass resin (no cloth). The edges get nicked here and there but its cheap and easy to apply. A gallon is $35 at pep boys - we will probably apply a new coat over the summer.

  • haha, nice.
