How anybody can pass judgement on a solo without hearing the entirety of the tune, let alone a single statement of the melody is beyond me. Although I suppose posting a video of trumpet shredding without any other musical context is asking for such narrow responses. Imagine posting a picture of one/fifth of a Kandinsky painting and reacting to only the geometric forms of that partition.
That was okay. Great skill to do that solo, but I didn't like his use of space or style. I want to be able to do that, but his solo to me was boring as hell.
Hey! I live in louisville and will probably be going to Jen tonight! if I see you I will say hello! But I must warn you iam15 haha, anyways love your vids! Keep it up!
@bigbocceball I don't hear him scales including major, melodic, harmonic, natural minor or blues scales. Of all the jazz solos I have transcribed I can think of two examples of a musician using a scale, both times to start a phrase. Pat Metheny uses an F major scale, if I recall correctly, to start a solo on one of his tunes on Bright Size Life, I don't remember which one, and Wayne Shorter uses an A natural minor scale to begin the forth phrase of his solo on Black Nile on Night Dreamer.
