  • Where do I get the hauppauge box and the green red and blue cable with the white and red back (how he set it up) for the ps3 cause mine did t come with that

  • @jakob7735 The Hauppauge Box? You have to buy the Hauppauge HD PVR, a Sony AV Component Cable and also EyeTV 3 for this process to work on a Mac.

  • whats the other component cable called

  • @TheMrcoolboy143 You have the standard one included with the PVR... the other one is called a 'Sony AV Component Cable'.

  • What did you use to record your scree on the computer?

  • @prosnipes98 Something called Screen Flow or iShowUHD.

  • look, when i press change to component, everyone is getting black in 30 seconds. after the 30 seconds nothing happened. wtf should i do !?!?

  • @tehcruzty You have 30 seconds to 'accept' the change of output on the PS3. You must be using the Sony branded component cable, make sure the PVR is turned on and be on the component TV channel.

  • @SpendingWages when i press the change thing it gets black and i don't have a component tv channel? :S and i don't think it doesn't matter what component cables it is, only its a component cable which fit the hole

  • @tehcruzty For this process to work your TV needs to support component input... this means that it will have a component channel (like AV and HDMI). The Sony branded cable is also important... you cannot use any old component cable to connect the PS3 to the PVR, trust me.

  • very descriptive video, thanks a lot(=

  • is there a way do do it without eyetv?

  • @boomslang225 Not that I am aware of.

  • u deserve a like bro!!

  • Hello, i bought a HD PVR Gaming edition but there are 2 problems. if i start playing while the pvr is turned on its laggin all the time (no sound 4 a few second and in the captured video are missing parts of 30 seconds) the other problem is that i got something that looks like rain on my tv screen if i play while its turned on. can someone help me?

  • @LoveMusicGermany I would recommend that you swap the PS3 component that you got with the PVR with the Sony branded PS3 component cable. Next you need to update EyeTV with the latest patch and possibly install driver(s). The Mac and TV screen will never be in sync, do not worry about that. Exporting the file out of EyeTV is a case of trail / error., at the moment I am selecting HDV 720p. If all else fails get in touch with Elgato, they have a very good online diagnostic system.

  • The ps3 componnent cable come with the ps3? Because my only have the yellow, red and white cables. Somebody knows it?

  • @pedkg Nope... what you have is a scart cable, not a component cable.

  • What is I use a headset and I have to select the optical cable, will the audio still record?

  • @xJReck210x Yes... providing that you enable the audio multi output.

  • does this require a hdmi

  • @DannnnnM1 Only to change your PS3 settings (that is if you play using HDMI) to component... the PVR does not support HDMI.

  • @SpendingWages im gonna pm u my setup of my hd pvr tell me whatc wrong

  • Thanks for the video does eye tv come with the hd pvr if not how much does it cost?

  • @AndrewAppleFreak No problem... no it does not. It must be purchased separately. The UK price of which was around £90.

  • My screen is whiteish and got really slow reacting time, help!!

  • @GamePhysics The record time within EyeTV will never be at the same pace as your TV. But don't worry, if you have done everything correctly this does not matter. The reason for the white screen could be EyeTV needs updating, make sure you are using the Sony AV Component cable and the PS3 settings are in the right place.

  • @SpendingWages I did exactly like you did, and i piratebay´ed EyeTV so i don´t have the latest update.

  • @SpendingWages I did exactly like you did, and i piratebay´ed EyeTV so i don´t have the latest update. And the update costs money, i just spent nearly 400$ on a HD-PVR and because i use a different computer i need to pay more to use it! Please give me any and all tips you can to defeat this problem! :)

  • @GamePhysics If I was you I would save up and buy EyeTV, that way you fall within customer support. The problem will more than likely be linked to the fact you do not have the latest update. Or maybe something is faulty? The fact that you are getting some sort of signal through to your Mac from the PS3 is something.

  • @SpendingWages I checked that every cable was plugged in correctly and firmly in place.. I will look for more help if you can´t help me further! :) But thank you anyways, for everything! :D

  • @GamePhysics I had the same problem with my screen being white. I got lucky and found the solution but there are no videos on it. Eye TV 3 starts off, at least it did for me anyway, with a high brightness level. If you go into the settings you can adjust the brightness.

  • If i want to record in 1080p, what settings should i choose where? Do i use 1080p on the ps3 settings also?

  • @GamePhysics You sure can, but it takes longer and when you think about it not many people have the 'power' to watch videos in 1080p. The difference between 720p is very small. Try changing the PS3 settings to 1080p and when you come to export the file out of of EyeTV try one or a number of the 1080p options.

  • @SpendingWages When i tried 1080p at the ps3 it wouldn´t take the signal.. Can you play around and figure out how to? It would be at so much help for me and many other people! Thank you for the video too! ;D

  • can i ever record in 1080p?

  • @CrashBandicootNo1 You sure can, but it takes longer and when you think about it not many people have the 'power' to watch videos in 1080p :)

  • @SpendingWages

i getcha, but i was gonna do ps1 games anyway on the ps3, so it wont be too bad xD

  • lolps3. Nice vid tho. :P

  • We have the same TV :D

  • Best tutorial ever

  • does eyetv 3 work with the HD PVR if so does it come a a paid download

  • @PS3HenryHop98 No. They are two separate items made by different manufactures.

  • Comment removed

  • when i go into eyetv it says the HD PVR is not connected by the usb ???

  • do you need to be on a hdmi input, and also i dont have an hdmi cable for my xbox? plz reply thank you

  • @WatchUsEnrage No... the process works entirely over component cables.

  • @SpendingWages thanks!

  • Don't worry mate all sorted, thanks for all the help :)

  • Mate i have a problem... When i go to my component channel, its in black and white... What do i do?!

  • i only have red, white, yellow output on my tv will it still work if i just put it into them ??

  • @SpendingWages what do u recommend ?? should i get a new tv ??

  • @SpendingWages what do u recommend i do no ?? buy a new tv ??

  • @SpendingWages what do u recommend i do ?? buy a new tv with the right connections ??

  • @PS3HenryHop98 Yes... something that is 21", 1080p with component input.

  • @SpendingWages when i go into Eyetv and try to setup my per with it it says there is no HD PVR connected on the USB page what should i do ??

  • @PS3HenryHop98 It sounds like EyeTV is not up to date... update it. If it still does not work then you could contact Elgato (they are really helpful). But then it could be a simple connection error... double check them. Also you must be using the Sony AV Component cable.

  • do the 5 audio cables have to be plugged in to tv cus i only got red white yellow on my tv ??

  • Yo my component cables that came with the playstation have only blue green and red. Do I need all 5 ends?

  • @Pluruh Yes.

  • Comment removed

  • THANKS MAN!!!

  • My screen is all green why?

  • wenn i have connected my HD pvr, my screen is green? why?

  • @TecZBirDy Which screen? Is EyeTV3 up to date?

  • wait does the software come with the per

  • @MrBonez12345 No.

  • do all the cables you need come with the per in the box ??

  • @PS3HenryHop98 No. You must also purchase something called a 'Sony AV Component Cable'.

  • also how do u upload to youtube straight from eye tv ??

  • @PS3HenryHop98 This is not possible... you must export the file first onto say your desktop and then upload it to YouTube.

  • can i still use my astro gaming headset while recording sound on pvr and through my headset ?

  • @PS3HenryHop98 Yes.

  • my tv only has 480 p and 720 p. when i try to proceed it just keeps saying no signal.

  • @DanielMcDaniel10 Your TV should be on component. The PS3 display output settings should be 720p.

  • Dos it also work on a mac laptop? :)

  • @TecZBirDy Yep.

  • @SpendingWages Thanks :)

but Eye TV 3 do i have do buy that, or is it free :) ??

  • @TecZBirDy Buy... but I'm sure you maybe able to rip a copy off the web.

  • when i stick my disk in my iMac nothing pops out on my screen can you tell me what to do? i have had my hd per for a week and i bearly started connecting it....

  • @xReMorZeClan The PVR disk will not work in a Mac as it is PC software. YOu need to purchase Eye TV 3.

  • Do u need to buy special cables for the mac or the same cables for windows? please awnser

  • @DuBzLaMx Same for windows... just USB.

  • Thank you so much for putting in every detail of the set-up! Thanks so much!

  • @Top25AppReviews Update the Eye TV software, you may have to download the latest drivers.

  • @SpendingWages Where is the activation key?

  • @MrFrankC11 It should come with the Eye TV 3 software.

  • @SpendingWages Some guy gave me a link to download it, it wants me to give an activation key, do you know where I can find one or another mac program that works with the HD PVR?

  • NEED HELP!!!! hey i did everything it says in the video but when i go to change my video output to component/D-terminal it dosnt work i think its because i dont have a component channel on my tv but i have the component slots please help!!! D:

  • @itsKonG You must be using a Sony AV Component Cable, also don't forget to turn the PVR on. IF your TV has component slots, then it is component compatible. Try it on a different TV.

  • So i got my hauppauge pvr i have it all hooked up using eye tv but its all bright and white looking when i record

  • @SwiftlyPure Are you using the Sony Av Component Cable? Try both PAL and NTSC settings. Make sure the software is up-to-date also.

  • what if it just keeps flickering? but does not stop

  • @TheOneAndOnlyFletch When, where? Is the software up-to-date? Elgato have a wonderful diagnostic tool if you contact them. When you run it the findings go straight back to them for analysis, after which they get back to you.

  • @SpendingWages I changed it to NTSC and it worked (even though i live in the uk) but now i have a slightly different problem. All white colours (on my ps3, tv, and computer) are dragged and blurred slightly to the right. Is there a setting in the ps3 settings to correct this?

  • @TheOneAndOnlyFletch The only setting you should be concerned about on the PS3 is that the video output is on component.

  • Does the pvr connect to thunderbolt or just mini display port

  • @Woojoo333 I have no idea what either of those are. It does PS3 to PVR, then PVR to TV. The PVR is also conected to the Mac. That is all.

  • @SpendingWages how do u connect pvr to mac what kind of cable and where do u connect it?

  • @Woojoo333 Via a standard USB cable that comes with the HD PVR.

  • @SpendingWages thnx

  • @Woojoo333 it just connects to the USB.

  • Do u have to buy any cables

  • @Woojoo333 Yes... a Sony AV Component Cable.

  • On my Mac the screen that shows my ps3 is too bright!! How do I fix that?

  • @TheEternalCaos That could be down to a number of things, for example the brightness of your Mac or lose or faulty connection. Using a Sony AV Component Cable is a must.

  • my picture is very blurry on eye tv its like the brightness is too high, how can i change that?

  • Is there someway i can get Eyetv for free? exept for piratebay?

  • @Uncharted182 Not that I know of matey, what's wrong with piratebay?! lol

  • @SpendingWages heh, I just got it from Priratebay:) But one more thing, Should i get the Gaming Edition HD PVR whit the Component cable for PS3/Xbox and have to pay alittle more or should i just buy the "Normal" HD PVR and buy the PS3 Component cable seperate? I just want to spend as little as i can :)

  • @Uncharted182 Good stuff...I'd go with the normal one and look for the Sony AV Component cable on eBay.

  • @SpendingWages Oh ok, And do I have to order the Cable online or can you find it in store? Btw Thanks for the Help :)

  • @Uncharted182 Try eBay if not amazon, best buy, walmart etc, all of these places should have what is called a 'Sony AV Component Cable'. Happy gaming!

  • @SpendingWages I Just got one and it´s working great! :D Amazing quality

  • @Uncharted182 Good for you man! Happy recording :)

  • @Uncharted182 what the pirate bay link for eye tv?

  • @CIB96 Search on Youtube "How to get eyetv free" and just take the first Video

  • nvm i fixed it :)

  • hey! i did everything at it works perfectly but i got some colours wrong -_- the psn and sumthing other stuffs changes colours, what can i do? :)

  • i have a microsoft computer can i still do this

  • But when u change the HDMI on the TV to component cabel, dosent the quality gets bad?:/

  • @doffa25 Not as much as you would think, because it still manages to support 720p.

  • @doffa25 If youre using a new compnent cable you will get 1080i/p

  • Can I record gameplay with a Optik tv HD pvr??

  • @mzaky911 I would say say. But if you have not bought this product yet I would recommend the Hauppauge HD PVR from my personal experience.

  • @SpendingWages Thanks!!

  • did these component cables come with the hdpvr or did you buy them seperate? if so can you provide a link?

  • @christianhamby13 All provided with the HD PVR :)

  • k you ever put it on 1080p. what i mean is if you have a tv the is 1080p can you output the recording in 1080p or would you need to stay the same as 720 and 527 or whatever it is Please right back thanks i like the video

  • @199shawnpoetker it depends what works best for you. The reason why I avoid 1080p is because of the time a file like that takes to process and the large space that it takes up on my computer. 720p is still classed as HD and to be honest the difference between the two settings is not very much. Also you have to ask yourself that do the people who use YouTube have the power to load a 1080p video? So you may do a lot of extra work for very little recognition.

  • @SpendingWages thanks i will take this in to consideration have a nice day

  • ive done all of these things, followed them to the letter, the inputs are all in the correct spots etc....problem is with eyetv 3, when i look at the picture on my computer (mac) the image is blurry and way too bright, i cant see things properly on my computer....help please!

  • @ImGodzCow Try using a different signal format. Also make sure that EyeTV3 is up-to-date.

  • do i have to buy eye tv??

  • @frito001f duhh...

  • @B4CNPyRo sorry for havin a macbook since 2 days ago -____-

  • where did you got that theme?

  • @Iucaas Iol I took if from Google Images. I searched my screen resolution for example '1280x1024 hd images' and then just spent time looking for ones that looked good :)

  • Thank you for this video. It was perfect and helped met set it up all the way through. :)

  • nice video. clearly explaning it.

  • i didn't get a activation key?????

  • @TehhTimmehh Hmm why? Where did you purchase the product from?

  • Thanks for this. It's very useful.. I plan to save for the HD PVR so I can upload games too :') 10/10

  • Thanks for the video. I like the detail you put into this video very good!

  • LMAO 2:15 xD

  • Can the eye tv 3 record by itself?

  • @chewy11d7 What do you mean? Whenever you want eye tv 3 to record, there is a record button on the software that you have to hit.

  • @SpendingWages i mean can it record with out the hauppage or any other add ons

  • @chewy11d7 No - you need a PVR and an extra component cable.

  • @SpendingWages Thanks! Also is that all you need? (hd pvr, eye tv 3, and component cable)

  • @chewy11d7 Yes that is enough to get HD videos onto YouTube.

  • @SpendingWages Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My hd pvr is not detected buy the mac?????

  • @PhYcHoAiiMz for me it was $270 for the ps3 av cord and haulage hd pvr from best buy canada

  • @PhYcHoAiiMz Normally around 150 GBP.

  • @14gescal When you insert the disk - it should be one of the run-through options.

  • @14gescal Check for updates and make sure that the settings are at NTSC. Also turning the PVR off and on a number of times may also help.

  • Good tutorial. Just a question, i use my Turtle Beach headset while im playing, and there i plug in my headset is on the same output there i should plug in my component cable. So i can't have my headset on while i recording?:(

  • @greendayfan991 Yes you can have your headset on while you are recording - I take that this is so you can do live commentaries etc? If so we have done another video about how to do live commentaries that may be worth a watch.

  • hi mark, is 4 gb of ram enough?

  • @buttsmacker3000 Yes - that is what I have :)

  • @SpendingWages okay thank you. :)

  • Can you use the hd pvr on a free version of eye tv

  • @xIIProKniferIIx I guess so, but no doubt Elgato will have placed some sort of restriction on the free/trail ver
