For "older" objects, they will use radiometric dating and other methods.

The Bible, when interpreted in its original hebrew, teaches that the world is a flat circle, encased in a glass dome (which are the heavens). The Earth is fixed and immovable, supported by pillars underneath it. Stars are considered tiny objects INSIDE this dome. The Sun and Moon literally rise and set. The Bible was obviously written by ancient people who knew nothing about actual astronomy.
