In 2006, The dumocrats took-over Congress. From that time until now, our economy has simply turned to SHIT!
As for mr oblama being a Socialist,,,,Well, Boys & Girls,, He IS. He is no friend of Business(of any kind). He thinks that the government should be in charge of your entire life, from before you're born and past your death.
The worse part of mr oblama is that he has ZERO experience in:
when you put it like that, then you're right, wow we sheeple had better wake - but the alternative is that millions of people think the US was broken by Bush/Cheney and millions are trying to fix it and make it better - not Obama alone - you make it sound like he is doing it all by himself - but he has 1,000s of dangerous socialists working for him, and 100s of millions of idiot American citizens approving of what he's doing - gosh, maybe you should be in charge and tell all us idiots what to do
Yeah, because Cheney was such a sweetheart, especially when he told that congressman to "go fuck yourself." Cheney doesn't deserve to be treated with respect.
Obama preached endlessly about how he was going to avoid the tired old partisan bullshit and bring all sides together to get problems fixed. No more childish name-calling or demonizing others for political gain.
And now the weakest links in his administration are regressing into that very behavior. There used to be a "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy"...now I guess it's just a "Cabal".
ha ha ha - good one - Cheney says Obama is endangering America, and instead of turning the other cheek Obama's spokesman mocks him - so what? Obama promised to change the tone - and he has - but Obama never promised to be 100% perfect, or change the tone 100% - he has only changed it 90% - that will have to be good enough for you Obama haters -
True dat! Obama has to stand up for what he believes too, he's not gonna be a GOP door-mat in the name of change! I think he's doing a fantastic job so far.
ver506: Well, I'm guessing you're a black man and I have to take your opinons of Obama with a grain of salt.
Black people have an enormous emotional investement in Obama and I don't think they will EVER admit a failure. IMO Obama could run unemployment up to 15% and the national debt up to $15 Trillion and many black people would still declare him a great success.
I generally wish Obama well, but must reject his fiscal policies. Too bad so many people blindly support everything he does.
I wouldn't call it "blind" support - I'd say people support him because he HAS a plan, and they/we/I don't see any alternative solutions - do Republicans have one? Conservatives? All we hear from them is "more of the same", or dodges - if conservatives came up with an intelligent reasonable-sounding plan there'd be some support for it - as it is, Obama is the only game in town, and he has put together a competent administration - so yeah, the US supports him_ what is your alternative by the way?
davis: I agree the Reps are in disarray and have offerred no alternatives. Of course, when you're in the minority in both Houses, it's very hard to craft alternatives to the majority's bills...but that's just an excuse. The Reps have to do better.
BTW, I don't accept the argument that there are only two options: (1) do everything Obama says, or (2) do nothing.
I was with Obama on spending the balance of TARP and the $800B stimulus...but I cannot support any more borrowing/spending.
You've got me all figured out now, huh? Well, you're wrong about my race AND gender....so much for that! I'm liberal though, so Obama's policies are my policies. I've never voted for a republican , and probably never will...has nothing to do with race/gender!
You also need to stop with the black people support Obama deal. 90% of blacks voted for Gore, 88% for Kerry..blacks seem to be consistently dems. The GOP wants to act like it's all new..now that there's a black president...fake outrage!!
ver506: No, I stand by my comment that blacks are emotionally vested in Obama...he's their Muhammad Ali, MLK, and Nelson Mandela all rolled up into one person...if he fails they'll be terrified that racists will use it as rationale to reinforce negative black stereotypes.
And yes, blacks have historically voted overwhelmingly for the Dems. But this doesn't disprove my comments about Obama one bit. Blacks turned out in MASSIVE numbers this time; to elect a black Pres.
According to voter records, almost every voter group turned up in more #s to vote for Obama. It's common sense that blacks would be proud of Obama, he was a first. That should not somehow be a talking point for the GOP. It's not like u can do anything about it......
Obama also got a huge # of the youth vote...bitch about that too!
If there was ever an Asian presidential candidate, do u think Asians would be more enthusiastic about them? It's common sense dude, and u can't do anything about it
ver506: You need to back off on your last post. I've never complained about blacks voting en masse for Obama (like catholics voting for JFK).
My only point...which I must restate because you're not paying attention...is that blacks are emotionally vested in Obama and will not (perhaps cannot) admit if/when he fails. Study some black history and try to understand the degree of self loathing, insecurity, and paranoia that exists in AA culture...not their fault, but it's true.
All that psychology crap is non-sensical. Obama was a great candidates and blacks were especially proud of him because for the first time, they can relate to the president.
ver506: My opinions on this issue have nothing to do with psychology...it's based entirely on what I've personally experienced over the last 50 years.
But, it's just an opinon and we'll see what happens. Here's the test. If the Obama administration turns sour, and most pundits decide things aren't going well, let's see how the AA talking heads respond. Let's see if they have a knee-jerk defensive response...or if they agree with the non-AA pundits.
- Over 600,000 jobs lost since Dec 08 is Obama's fault? - The 750 billion stimulus package initiated by Bush was really initiated by dat there socialist black fella Obama - The cost of the Iraq War which was NOT INCLUDED IN BUSH'S OFFICIAL BUDGET but is included in Obama's which is why big govn't RAY-PUBLICANS have been such bad critics. - President Cheney piled up more debt than all previous presidents put together, thereby "drowning the beast". MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!
dangerous: Your post makes no sense. Obama inherited a mess...but it's now 100% his job to fix it.
And all I've seen so far is a ton of borrowing/spending with no credible explanation of how it gets paid back.
I'm giving Obama a year and lots of latitude on stimulus spending. I think that's quite a compromise as I'm a fiscal conservative...certainly a hell of a lot more latitude than the Left gave Bush the last four years.
How grateful the world is that you are so generous & patient. If you read my other post you would see that THERE IS NO WAY OUT of this mess. There are no viable options either economically or in Iraq. You can't tell me that *President* Cheney didn't see this coming when he brought in Paulson in 6/2006 b/c Paulson was buying & SHORTING AIG DERIVATIVES. Ever since the cold war ended the Norquist & RNC creed has been to drown the beast...WHICH THEY DID & took the global economy down with them.
dangerous: Drop the sarcasm you smarmy cock. Clowns like you have been predicting the end of the world for as long as I can remember. We finally have a bad recession (comparable to Carter's recession of 1980) and you now squeak "there's no way out".
It may take 2-5 years, but the economy will get back on track (provided Obama and the Leftists don't borrow/spend us into oblivion) and then you'll be back to where you were last year...doing your Chicken Little dance.
danger: I don't know if you think using adolescent terms like "ray-publicans" is funny or clever; trust me, it's neither...just an indication of your immaturity.
BTW, I'm not buying your hysteria about the fiscal crisis. The unemployment and GDP numbers are about the same as Carter's 1980 recession, but inflation is still OK (unlike Carter's runaway inflation and 18% interest rates). But...data doesn't matter to someone like you...you're in an ideological tizzy and know "the TRUTH"...lol
You, John, are not calling the tune here and you will not respond to the points you like while leaving out the inconvenient. BTW, the UNOFFICIAL unemployment rate will match 80's interest rates & that will mean that *Guber-Natorials* like you have to make ppl forget who started this so you can rewrite history again in 2012. This economy has imploded with inflation on tap & EU in big danger. BTW, putz, I see you're trying real hard to be rational with the rhetoric. See, your improving already.
danger: man, your posts are borderline unintelligible. What planet are you from? I'm from Earth.
Just a lot of name-calling against those who are Right-of-Center. My last post to you, and I'll reiterate my primary point...people like you that shrieked when Bush ran the national debt to $8T are now applauding that Obama will double it in five years and triple it in ten. By 2016 we'll have $20T in debt an nothing to show for it but a bunch of shitty, failed big govt programs.
of course the minority opinion can be expressed, no one claims otherwise - the minority opinion is: 'Obama is wrong and the citizens of the United States of America are sleepwalking sheep' - focusing on this one smart-ass answer - out of 100s - as evidence that Obama's whole administration has its collective heads up their asses only highlights Obama-haters distorted view of his administration...
davis: If the vid featured some nominal congressman making these statements we wouldn't even be discussing it.
But...the vid features Obama's white house spokesman. He's Obama's personal envoy...the guy who speaks to the press daily FOR Obama. This IS significant.
Re the "heads up the asses" comment, I wasn't just referring to the comment in the vid. I'm also referring to Obama getting badly off message (it's the economy...remember?), the AIG bonuses, the Brown visit, etc.
wow, with journalists like him, who really needs a first amendment? Does anybody remembered such respect meted out to the preceding VP whenever he delivered a critique of the administration?
Maybe if the Obama Administration didn't respond to all these attacks and smears from the right wing elites, then maybe Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Dick Cheney will start broadcasting nice things about the Obama Administration instead.
Rush Limbaugh might even change his broadcast from "I hope he fails" to something along the lines of "I hope America prospers during Obama's presidency!"
Wouldn't that be nice?
Besides, nobody really cares what crazy things Dick Cheney says on TV any more.
Oooh, I hope he didn't hurt poor Dickys wittle feelings. God knows, Dick is such a delicate little flower. And lets remember, he's responding to a vile comment just made from the same former and much hated VP. So, if it were me, I woulda said, "Yes, that's the official response to potshots thrown out by discredited revisionists in BushCo's cabal" Keep administering the smackdown, Gibbs.
oh the perps...he must be discussing Democrats like Franklin Raines, Maxine Waters, Christopher Dodd , and Barney Frank....those guys...sorry Bob I forgot
it wasn't a knife in the back. he was asked a question and gave his opinion. was he supposed to ignore the question? Gibbs was immature and doesn't help Obama at all with his immaturity.
The torch of freedom still burns bright, but it is slowly fading away due to the gradual taking of powers by the Federal Government and the money manipulators. As a member of the military, I have sworn to protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. And with your help, I intend to do just that.
I suggest you start with the enemies to the constitution and habeas corpus in the U.S. and work your way outward. It seems as though the worst perpetrators have left office now and the new management is taking steps to reverse bad policy of the past. However you Americans are the most red state, blue state religiously disfunctional country I've ever known, with your tv evengalists and that oxycontin stuffed moron touting loads of bullshit how can you ever expect to get things going forward?
usually, in this country, when you have a failed presidency or failed presidential campaign, you step down respectfully. You dont come on TV heckling your predecessors. You didnt see clinton heckling bush, or al gore antagonizing bush either. But now for some reason cheney and mccain feel its alright to do the rush limbaugh limbo, and act as traitors to the success of this country. and cheney is STILL fear mongering... I guess thats the only thing they were actually ever good at!!!
What a douchenozzle you are, Mr.Reid. Shoulda done your job properly covering the Bush White House, you toolbox, instead of whining to Gibbs about nothing.
I can respect that, but since this is pretty much the workplace for these people and Gibbs and the corps are kind of bastardized co-workers (a relationship I'm not comfortable with) I'm willing to allow a little sarcasm or humor now and again. Point taken, though.
You know, these reporters need to stop mining for soundbytes. That's old shit. That's what we did from like 2002-2006....just worrying about simple semantics and superficial language....come on-are we that dumb? I dont care about that stuff...I don't care if Gibbs has a certain "tone" with the former VP. The former VP is one of, if not the most, evil man in American History, and most of America has realized this. Gibbs is kind to not point THAT out when answering the question.
How many times when the shit was hitting the fan did Cheney ever go on any news show or say anything to the American people besides "So?". Why is he everywhere now? I mean isn't it skin shedding season, shouldn't he be sloughing some where? Can you imagine if Snake Cheney allowed himself to be interviewed by Jon Stewart? Snake doesn't possess the stones for that.
Chip Reid has turned into a GOP lapdog. Maybe Fox has an opening?
Chip Reid is really offended that Gibbs made a joke about Cheney. Thursday Reid said the Democrats were "rearing their ugly heads" on the tax bill. Pot meet kettle.
750+ detainees weren't fighters - less than 30 were. 1 was a 13 year old boy and another a 90 year old man. They were illegally detained and now we have hundreds of innocent men we just converted to possible terrorists.
And of course, typically when you catch and bring in the main "evil doer" for justice THE WAR ENDS. IDIOT.
will dick cheney just fall off the face of the earth already? we aint seen neither hide nor hair of dubya but dick "satan" cheney keeps hanging around like freakin freddie kreuger -yeah gibbs is a wanker but cheney is the devil in a three piece suit
Aww is the former VP gonna cry? Good lord, if it was a year ago and Gore did this the conservative talking heads would go ape shit about how it was bad form. Can't these people slither back into their caves or dark towers? Fuck off, Cheney.
Mr. Reid would do well to concern himself with questions about policy and real issues rather than playing the role of Miss Manners in the White House press room. The press secretary got it exactly right on the actual issue.
"This is a former vice president of the United States..."
Aside from the fact that the Cheney/Bush administration continues to (laughably) criticize the Obama administration on national security (the anthrax attacks & 9.11, I guess, have been forgotten), but I can vaguely recall esteemed members of the GOP such as Dan Burton calling President Clinton a "scumbag". Again, as I recall, the thousands of Americans murdered on US soil (and whose perpetrators were ignored) was during Cheney/Bush.
In 2006, The dumocrats took-over Congress. From that time until now, our economy has simply turned to SHIT!

or in Iraq."DROWNING THE BEAST" or socialism for
the rich. Like back in 1989 when Bush41 bailed out
Texas S&L's with 75 billion. The "surge" in Iraq?
30 MILLION A MONTH to 100,000 Iraqi "leaders"

What will happen when we withdraw?

JordanMatthewT 3 years ago
I suggest you start with the enemies to the constitution and habeas corpus in the U.S. and work your way outward. It seems as though the worst perpetrators have left office now and the new management is taking steps to reverse bad policy of the past. However you Americans are the most red state, blue state religiously disfunctional country I've ever known, with your tv evengalists and that oxycontin stuffed moron touting loads of bullshit how can you ever expect to get things going forward?
IonicStormFront 3 years ago 2
usually, in this country, when you have a failed presidency or failed presidential campaign, you step down respectfully.

It's not often that I like a presidential press secretary, but Gibbs is pretty cool. A badass.

Chain Dickie and give little Chippy a pacifier.
What a douchenozzle you are, Mr.Reid. Shoulda done your job properly covering the Bush White House, you toolbox, instead of whining to Gibbs about nothing.
SabuPtolemy 3 years ago 3
Chip Reid is a Right-Wing partisan hack who referred to Democrats as Ugly last week. He's hardly concerned with "tone". Cheney can kiss my ass.
HabitualNightOwl 3 years ago 4
There shouldn't be an issue of sarcasm when he is speaking about policies.
He has have a serious job, treat it like one.
If i wanted a comedian in this position I would much rather have Jon Stewart.
atx598 3 years ago

What is wrong with Gibbs denigrating someone that has as low an approval rating as Osama bin Laden? That is populism at its finest.

well, he's only one reporter, but yeah, he's definitely a loser for focusing on such petty shit, and the other reporters aren't a whole lot better.

Chip Reid is really offended that Gibbs made a joke about Cheney. Thursday Reid said the Democrats were "rearing their ugly heads" on the tax bill. Pot meet kettle.

Justice in War? Who is this BUFFOON!??!
Is his boss that stupid too?
You don't fight an ideology by "bringing people to justice!' That's moronic!
We're doomed!

Ever hear of the nuremberg trials, Sadams trial, slobodan milosevic trail? Bush Cheney Trials - wait I'm ahead of myself.
I believe there were WARS involved in those too, pendejo.
Yes, you're doomed to be a fucken idiot for the rest of your stupid meaningless life.
Sincerely,
God
franknyt 3 years ago
Just a question: Were those trials conducted before or AFTER those enemies were defeated? AFTER!!!!
Now another quesiton: Have we defeated Islamo-fascism? NO!!!!
Now another: How many enemy soldiers were killed, wounded and/or captured before those enemies were defeated? MANY!!!
What does D'ohBama want to do with our enemies? RELEASE THEM TO FIGHT SOME MORE!!!
We have an idiot for a president!
TedinLasVegas 3 years ago
TedinLasVegas
It was Dick Cheney's Catch and Release program that let Gitmo "enemy combatants" go free to re-join the Taliban and al Qaeda, not Obama!
Get your facts straight.

Idiot.
IDIOT.
Stop breathing, I command it.
Sincerely,
The Deity

Does anyone remember Al Gore criticizing the Bush Administration two months in? Or Bill Clinton?
In 2000, did "Liberal Media" bogeyman Dan Rather say he hoped Bush would fail on the leftist CBS Evening News? I don't seem to recall that.
Cheney played "Catch and Release" with the Gitmo "enemy combatants". Who the #@!% is he to talk now???
