Pretty good man. Like most other people said, make sure you practice with a drum machine to get a good sense of timing. Timing cannot be stressed enough. As a bassist, its our job to keep a good sense of rhythm going and flowing throughout a song. Its what makes the bass sound funky, not the slap.

Timing > speed

It's called a headless bass. They made a lot of them in the 80's. warwick made a serie called nobby meidel. Mark King from Level 42 played a headless as well. Type in mark king bass solo. he kicks ass!!!

The tuners are in the bridge. The strings have 2 ball ends and the tuners are like screws

I paid over $200 for my Fender Squier, and that Steinberger had much better tone. If you're looking for a good affordable bass, I'd go with an Ibanez, and there's also a very reasonably-priced Traben out there that would definitely get the job done.
