Nah, not really man. They used to copy it in the beginning. I am talking early 90's here.
But pretty soon the developed their own style, especially in the northern part known as "Hamburger Schule" where using wordplays and smart story telling was big. They found out that rapping about gangter life and ghettos is kind of corny, since there is no such thing as ghettos in Germany.
Nowadays there is a tendency to get closer to US Hip Hop again, which is kinda sad in my point of view though.

Nah, not really man. They used to copy it in the beginning. I am talking early 90's here.
But pretty soon the developed their own style, especially in the northern part known as "Hamburger Schule" where using wordplays and smart story telling was big. They found out that rapping about gangter life and ghettos is kind of corny, since there is no such thing as ghettos in Germany.
Nowadays there is a tendency to get closer to US Hip Hop again, which is kinda sad in my point of view though.
