I've got an XB9R Firebolt and will upgrade to an 1125 eventually. I always own American but will never own a Harley. Fuck them for stabbing Eric in the back.
Man FUCK harley davidson. Buell, you should team up with a company that aren't selling out on "image" The hell with that, buell built his bikes on TECHNOLOGY. not old engines that sound like a fukin tractor. Those douches shouldn't of done that to him.
Read this months cycle world Erik Buell is back with a limited carbon fiber bike that will be lighter than any other bike out there and have the power of a 1198 Duati. These 40 streel legal bike are sold at $40,000 just so he can race. He will be building more affordable street models in the future. EBR will be building the best bike in the world again.
I like the Buell. I have only gotten o ride an 03 blast 500 but i had a great time. it's to bad they got shut down. just shows Harleys are for Fags that try and hide the fact they are fags. if it wasn't for Buells performance research a Harley would just be a HARDLEY
It's too bad they made awesome bikes!....I got a 2001 Buell X1 Lightning, it's the best handling and riding motorcycle ive ever owned! And i would'nt trade it for any other motorcycle!
It's a fucking shame man! I used to own a R1, GSXR1000 etc, bought my buell and never looked back. By far the most fun bike to ride, sounds like thunder, and handles like on rails! Harley fucked Buells over because middle aged, mid-life crisis idiots will always buy Harleys to make them feel "cool" because they are not a riders bike, they are a posers bike! So instead of down sizing Harley, they scrapped buell, even after they won the championship, what does that say! The mother fuckers!!!
Buell will always be the 'Airwolf' and 'Night Rider' of bikes! Sad to see it go, even sadder that I never owned one. Good luck with your future endeavors Eric, hope to see your innovative designs and thinking on the street again in the near future!
If Erik Buell ever saw how the Harley dealers treated his Buells ..How the dealers used Buells to sell Harley sportsters and engine performance parts ...It was always about Harley and Harley customers ...please Mr Eric Buell next time you want to sell bikes , keep well clear of the company that supplies you with the engines that you hot up and use in your own bikes ....How do i know what went on
at these Harley dealers ???....I worked there in 1997 and saw it all happen .
When Buell hit the Australian bike market in 1997 , every Harley sportster owner wanted their Harley sportster to go as fast as a Buell ..Lots of cash was thrown at Harley dealers for performance kits and accessories ....Dame you Harley for stopping a great Bike ...your Dealers pushed Harley sportster sales whilst hiding Buells in a little corner , your Harley dealers would not accept a Buell as a trade in .. Harley dealers destroyed Buell , and the Harley company screwed all us Buell owners ..
sad news Buell being stopped by Harley , it always was a up hill battle ..even in 1995 when i went to USA to check out Buell , ( 2 years before Buell were for sale in Australia by a Harley dealer) i wanted to buy a Buell , i paid for the Buell and then waited almost 2 years for the Buell to arrive ..The Harley dealer would not let the Buell in his show room , The Buell had to be put in a wrecking yard show room with jap bikes ..Harley dealers and Harley customers were always out to destroy Buell
respect! i never really cared for american motorcycles, but buell showed me that the americans can build quality machinery when they put their souls into it...
It's tough to watch this video, as it really cuts to the core of all Buell riders. Two friends and I purchased Buells this year from even though production has stopped. Don't let what Harley did stray you away from buying such a great piece of American history. Keep up the support men, Buy Buell.
i salute you Mr. Buell. if i had the money, i would personally give it to you to restart your company and give it the greatness that it truly deserves.
Thank you Erik for all the fun days that I have had on my X1. I was going to say that I only wish more people would ride your bikes but then they wouldn't be what they are. A real world bike for those of use that on one understands. On one but the people at BMC.
Fuck Harley Davidson those piece of shit geezer bikes suck.Harley destroyed the only American sport bike company. Buy foreign cause American sucks now.
I may only have a little buell blast right now, but I have ridden Hondas and others and I love the way my bike handles and the little 500 isn't a bad motor either. I was saving up to get a new Buell XB12R but this news has really disappointed me. I guess I will just look for used one now. Oh well, there are those who will miss Buell a lot, their unique take on motorcycle engineering made them a truly awesome motorcycle as well as something different to ride other than everyone's Honda or Yamaha.
if only they had one more year, the buell barracuda was set to launch in 2011, also known as the 1190rr beautiful bike, finally got the looks down a bit too late =/
I'll bet Harley has it somewhere that Eric can't ever make bikes using his current designs. We won't make them and you can't either, Right?. Please someone hire Eric and let him design something to put HD out of business.
@tyfmorgan No, not true at all Erik Buell can not make bikes for one year because of the contract with Harley but after that he is free to start making the bikes again albeit XB9R bikes or anything that he has made in the past he can if he has the money to do it and I hope he starts again I loved his bikes I owned a Buell XB9R and I let some of my Jap bike buddies ride mine needles to say they went out and purchased buells because of the amazing handling and I now about the contract because
Good job harley. You just destroyed one of,if not, the greatest thing that happened to your company. He Brought you so many innovations, and even, made your Low tech v twins better before switching to rotax.
You also lost one of the most innovative american motorcycle engineers in history. Look at the CW review of the Buell Barracuda 2. That could have been one amazing motorcycle.
Somebody please get jay leno to invest, and start buell up again...
@Brennafugg You completely fail to understand the principle of supporting AMERICAN products, and damn fine ones at that. Way to go genius! You keep supporting offshore products and manufacturing, and see where it takes this country. Hopefully you'll find yourself as a direct victim of your mentality (or lack thereof).
@V8TEC exactly if youre American or live in America buy American and American products are proper , I hate to see Japanese automobile on American roads.
@NFLdude505 that doesn't mean anything dude. Most Japanese brand cars are made in the U.S. with some of the parts being supplied by U.S industry. They got here because of detroit making inferior products. It's all about quality, reliability, affordability, and innovation something the Japanese cornered right on the dot.
@EpiDemic117 the japanese make reliabile autos , that the biggest lie i ever heard. I'll stick with my American and German auto. you japanese car owner will buy there crap till you die huh, or till they kill you.'TOYOTA'
His lawyers advised him not to sign with harley a few times. They even made him sign something saying that they advised him not to. In the end he signed. Now thats an idiot !
mojojojo1130, did you ever think that Harley's input screwed them over? Buell was gaining ground before Harley bought them, then some bad decisions by corporate excluded Buell engineering and some mistakes increased production costs and thus final price. I blame H-D. I love H-D, I own one, but I hold them responsible for the demise of Buell.
Well I am just now getting to the age where I could have owned a Buell. I had heard amazing stories of how they were untouchable in their own realm. I'll buy a used one if I have to. Always Go American!
I'm so glad i own an xb12s. Its like a porche with a big block under the hood, I love it. I don't understand why they werent more popular, everywhere i go i get compliments from all people, all riders. I almost always catch people takeing time to look it over. It pisses me off that buell was shut down by a company whos biggest change to their motorcycles in the past 50 years is fuel injection!!
come on, harley didn't put buell out of business, they don't sell it's simple as that. i worked for a harley/buell dealer but when you sell 51(buell) bikes a year and you are the top store in your region that doesn't keep the doors open. Buells own the corners but doesn't have the appeal of a duc or aprilia i love the 1125cr, but it gets owned on straights by jap bikes who wants to spend more money for that. would you buy a ferrari if a mustang outruns it? just simple economics...
Erik, Once again Harley has let us down. I have been a fan since you first started showing your bikes in CW magazine. I own a S1 and I'm keeping it. Every time I ride it, it always gathers attention. I'm not sure what limitations Harley has put on you, but you should find a new company that will continue your dream. I don't consider Buell dead, just in hibernation for a while again (sorta like the AMF years). Your true fans and riders will support you again when your ready!
jap bikes didn't put buell out of business. Un-educated morons shouldn't make assumptions. Buell owns any jap bike where real motorcycling take place.
With any luck he will leave greedy bastards M/C and return to his passion of building some of the best bikes the world has seen!! Good luck Erik and all your loyal employees! This is a sad day for all of America and those who own and love thier masterpieces you have created you are a legend in your own time and I am proud to say I own a piece of your legacy!
say good bye to another american company burnt by jap crap bikes and international trading thats why there are no jobs in america for the middle class because nothing is made here anymore im buying a buell next month and will keep it forever never a harley though. good luck erik it is sad
At least I'll be able to continue to find parts for my crap jap bike in 10 years. =)
You can't seriously blame jap bikes for putting Buell out of business. It was Harley Davidson (Another American company NO WAI??!?!!11?!!) Who put Buell out of business.
Fuck harley, u know whats bad? if it werent for eric, it woulda never crossed my mind to even try a harley. They bought him out and shut him down, they even took his name! Lesson learnt? be careful who you sell to/do business with, especially if you are a free thinker with an offer from a company in the business of selling the same product since the fifties!!!
I was thinking about selling my Buell, but now learning Buell is going out of business, Im going to keep mine...forever. Its a piece of american motorcycle history
I agree 100 0/0 Ill keep my s1 1200 forever and pass it on to one of my daughters YES daughters they are 9 and 16 and both ride and love it. Erik was screwed by greedy basterds motorcycle co. I will NEVER buy a new H-D I have a 91 Dyna and will only buy aftermarket parts and if I get another H-D it will be used and if I get the chance to pick up another Buell I will be Blessed. I kept all the origional pieces to my 97 s1 so it can be turned into origional condition. But im not gonna stop riding.
I also have a 97 S1 Lightning, here in southern ohio there aren't many around, but it seems as if everyone wants one now. My Sons both love to ride (8 & 5), and my oldest says he can't wait to ride the buell by himself. I told him to stick to his PW80. Hopefully one day I can give it to one of them.
Be proud of what you have done, and for the bikes you realized! - You are a symbol that some men can improve, innovate, having a heart and a passion for your creations. It's sad that market has his mechanics, but history will never forget these "Buell" super bikes !!
Really sad for this HD decision. Here in Italy Buell bikes are not the most common bikes but there is a large group of fans, and they are really appreciated. That's unfair...
Get in your Toyota, go pick up your Porto-rican girl friend, get a meal at a French or Italian resturant and have a cold beer brewed in Austria.
Isn't that what being American is all about?

Be proud of what you have done, and for the bikes you realized! - You are a symbol that some men can improve, innovate, having a heart and a passion for your creations. It's sad that market has his mechanics, but history will never forget these "Buell" super bikes !!

It's a real shame. The Buell was by far, the powerfulest bike I ever rode. Too bad I won't be getting to own my very new one soon.

Really sad for this HD decision. Here in Italy Buell bikes are not the most common bikes but there is a large group of fans, and they are really appreciated. That's unfair...

I do not own a buell, but i love them... is really too sad, too un-human. Always money.. only money...
Eric, go ahead, you must be proud of your little industry...
