  • Gees I hope my x-wife isnt waiting for me!

  • TRUE LOVE!I WISH I AM ONE WHO IS THAT LUCKY!

  • thank god he died before the tram crash

  • VERY touching scene. But no, not ex cast members coming back as their dead character, not on Coronation Street PLEASE. Home and Away, or an Australian Soap, yeah I could imagine but not Coronation Street. In my opinion,Its gradually loosing that every day 'realism' its been loved for and its a shame, the 50th Anniversary, yeah brilliantly done but over the top. You could actually believe this fictional street actually existed at one time, but not any more, storylines are becoming far fetched.

  • @jiggarypokery I think this was a one off because Jack and Vera were a much loved part of the show. They loved each other - even if they didnt show it a lot! I think Corie can play the "get out of jail free" card on account of the fact they were the longest married pair on the street, and much loved by fans.

  • I've never seen the show before, but that scene really got to me!

  • it gets me each time i hear him say 'goodnight dad'

  • Such an amazing scene, very emotional. Perfect ending to the Duckworth era, as long as they don't do another scene like this. Jack and Vera are the only couple who deserved such a great end.

  • @ut91 But then there's KEN. He definitely deserves a good send off. He and Emily are the originals from day one. But JACK was a classic!

  • This had me in floods of tears, truly the end of an era.

  • I am glad Jack went like this instead of being killed in the tram disaster.

  • Vera : " 'ere Jack yer late"

  • I love this.

  • this will bring lot if sadness to any body who has lost a love one to cancer i lost both. mum and dad last year was thinking. hoping my dad met my mum hope its true

  • Dumb british ??? cheeky git !!!

  • lol bore me a bit more I'll fall asleep ppff dumb british

  • Corrie definitely know how to do deaths. As soon as I saw him and Vera dancing that was me gone, watched the rest through blurry eyes. RIP Jack Duckworth.

  • This is *tear* so fucking *tear* sad... but there's no way I'm crying...thank God no one's in the room to see me now...

  • Such a moving scene, brings a tear to my eye. :(

  • Bye Jack you will be missed!!!!!!!!! I've grown up watching you and Vera on Corrie xx

  • R.I.P Jack Duckworth. You'll Be Missed !! xx

  • rip jack will miss you

  • I'm not a big corrie fan, but this was just brilliantly done....brings a tear to my eye, and i'm a 25 yr old bloke.

  • Comment removed

  • oh bless

  • Possibly the most moving part of Corrie history rivaled only by when Hilda is holding Stans glasses after his funeral. Brilliant, simply brilliant.

  • soooo sad :(

  • I would like to think that this how it happens for us all! A treasured loved 1 waiting. . at the time of passing.

    EPIC script writing.

  • @Seanmystaa yea

  • Come with me Jack come with me, Kiss my lips and you will see, We'll walk the cobbled Streets again, I'll set you free. It's OK Jack close your eyes, It's not like it was a big suprise, Last pint in the Rovers Now it's time to set you free. The ghost of Vera's there to wrestle you from your despair, The Ghost of Vera's here to set you free. Hold my hand Jack, celebrate, Feel the warmth of my embrace, Leave them all behind, and walk with me.
  • Genius...wrote a song "The Ghost of Vera" tried to attach it but YT wouldn't let me attach the vid...visit my channel or do a search : the ghost of vera danny mcevoy.

  • Corrie is loved, eastenders is watched. This scene shows why that is.

  • @caimin Well said/written! Sums it up nicely.

  • Bill also sings `wind beneath my wings' when he passes away what a great singer

  • The best ending ever for a wonderful charater. I have cried so much. I just hope that is exactly how it was for my nan and grandad who died a week apart. Well done the the corrie producers, directors and writers!!! Well done!!!

  • Aww Poor Tyrone!

  • A perfect ending , how else could it have ended ?

  • Wonderful and touching

  • Best send off in a UK soap history ever.

Well done to the writers, the CGI editors and the actors playing Jack and Vera.

    Very touchy stuff!

  • @slammercj There was no CGI in this sequence.

The only way that they could have ended this character's time on the show was like this. Any other departure for Jack would be an insult to Bill Tarmey!

  • @AidanLunn The meant the scene when their is a birdseye view of Jack and Vera dancing in the studios and they edit or mask it together to fit with the outside view which is still in a birdseye view.

For all I know ,it couldn't be CGI but anything minor or groundbreaking now a days uses a bit of CGI or a tiny spec of graphics.

    Who knows??

  • @slammercj Well I do. That's not CGI, that's just a standard vision mix. They used to do them on vision mixing desks when they were still using tape, but everything's hard drive now, and it's now possible that a programme can be recorded, edited and broadcast without even touching tape. It'll just be a standard vision mix in Avid or Final Cut Pro or whatever other editing program they use. Even though that's done on a computer, it's not technically CGI. the image is generated by a camera.

  • @AidanLunn Cheers AidanLunn, "now needs to buy a Mac to do over the top editing" lol.

  • Watching in Canada, it made me feel so homesick Vera and Jack were legends and it was wonderful to see them back together again. Would'nt it be lovely if we could all go like this. I must have gone through a box of Kleenex ....bawled my eyes out.

  • @MrGary66

I can't see any Disney characters here pal ( except for a 'Dopey' dwarf 'gonad' that is, who comes on to annoy people who may just be feeling 'sentimental' over losing their own family - aka- YOU).

You still got all your folks then ? Lucky you.

Corrie has been a great comfort to older housebound folk who see it as a visit with old friends. Thats why it is so popular over your own obvious desperate struggle to get noticed here.

  • I cryed my favourate charicter in the whole show finest peice of television ive ever seen he will be missed!

  • Knew it was coming but it still caught me out to tears (not ashamed to admit either). This is exactly how I imagined my Mum and Dad being reunited when she went over 20 years after missing him for that long.

Them meeting up again and dancing happily to the old tunes they loved.

Mum also told us that it was the way my brother went, he sat up when seeing my late Dad at the end of his bed and then went.

Nice ending touch for Jack u Corrie writers, a lot of peeps report the same thing happening.

  • I definitely cried even as a 33 yr old grown up ! There clearly was affinity between Jack and Tyrone - well over a decade - a son Terry Duckworth never was !! RIP Jack.

  • I cried.

  • if this was eastenders they would make it so depressing u would feel like u wanna kill ur self...but this was very heartbreaking i loved the fact tht they made the passing very touching and the audience relates to it not like eastenders

  • I love when Tyrone said "goodnight dad"!!! Sob! I was bawling!!

  • Brilliantly played by Bill Tarmey

Jack Duckworth a soap opera Legend

    Just one criticism.....

ITV when a legend such as Jack dies do you not think it would have been better to have had his name first on the end credits and not third like they were

    Bad Mistake ITV

  • @nellybean01 Isn't there an Equity rule that states that actors must be credited in the order that they appear in the finished programme, or something like that?

  • So had Vera faked her death?

  • @123WelshDan321 she was a ghost mate jack een herashe was nearin death

  • @speke1989

AH okay - it's just that the producers said that she wouldn't be a ghost - I guess she was in the end. It was a very touching scene.

  • @123WelshDan321 complete bullshit, but jack had died and was reunited with his wife

  • @123WelshDan321 Your "faked her death" comment made me laugh amongst the tears lol! Thankyou for that :)

So glad Vera and Jack are finally together where they belong xxx May they rest in love x

  • Thanks for uploading this clip, but hopefully the dicks at ITV don't bring it down. Reminds me of the Family Guy clip " Bring this wall down Mr. Gorbachev" lol.

  • I usually detest Coronation Street, but this tugged at a few heart strings, knowing the character as I've grown up.

  • ITV could of at least of had silent credits at the end, would of made more of an impact!

  • @Flickyhecky. I agree but let's be grateful that ITV didn't: a) put those bloody annoying plugs to the next show across the bottom of the screen and b) put those bloody annoying voiceovers and sidebars to yet another Celebrity Come Wash Me Nuts While Singing In A Jungle With My Family-type show through the credits.

  • @Flickyhecky Or had the camera rising up as the cliffhanger! With the rest of the song playing over the credits instead of the theme tune!

  • Jack was a Father to Tyrone and who will be still there after the Manchester Metrolink crashes

  • Tastefully done and nice to see Liz Dawn looking so healthy despite her real life health issues

  • its amazing how the death of a soap character can effect us so much. I've been weeping away through this, think I've gone soft!

  • Beautiful ending for Jack, had me in tears. the part with Vera especially, because throughout everything they loved each other and now they can be together for eternity, that's the message that was being passed across. So beautiful. R.I.P Jack you and your little swamduck are together forever now. :) x
