Well, you're actually incorrect about how high it was designed to fly. In the instructional video that came with the tube, they clearly demonstrated the tube flying in excess of ten feet, at speeds undoubtedly greater than the recommended 25mph. The only reason the manufacturer suggested a maximum speed of 25mph was for liability reasons, when in fact they well knew that their product wouldn't work under those conditions

Kite tubes were the most fun thing ever untill some idiots decided to go 30+ mph on it. It was perfectly safe at less than 20. The only things needed to keep this thing safe was an experienced person riding the tube, and a carefull driver.

For the most part it is the drivers fault in all cases. If he "eases" back on the throttle before the tube gets to high accidents don't happen. Also, though, the rider was squirly when he was up in the air. Didn't look like a horrible fall though - must have just landed wrong. I fell off a tube going almost 50 and hit our wake on a double up with my ribcage this past summer, needless to say I had trouble breathing for a few hours - good story though.

Did you not read my repy. I go twice every weekend from about a month ago until about september or october. And if you are claiming that this was a 30 ft fall - you are sadly mistaken. This tube did not finish its final flip until about 8-10 ft off of the water. I'm not negating that this did not hurt but also don't throw claims on a video that blow it out of proportion and read my entire post about the fall I took and explained how bad it hurt. It was a 30ft fall. The tube is falling faster than what I would have been free falling therefore the fact that I rode it most of the way down is irrelevant. Watch when I let go... the tube hits the water before I do. Sorry dude, but I was the one unconcious face down in the water, completely unresponsive for over five minutes with a suspected broken neck. So I'm sure you might have had a bad wipe out, but it doesn't really compare.

in my honest opinion ive seen this sport take place in a safe environment. The manufacturer also issues a safety video on protocol procedures and what to look out for before trying this at your own leisure such as wind velocity and current. Plus as you can clearly see the boat was exceeding the maximum speed for this sport. So in my MEDICAL OPINION he got hurt for not following simple yet critical procedures.
