  • motor sounds awsome

  • Fix the backup light. ;)

  • You cant go wrong with classic American muscle cars but this thing is BADASS

  • Holly shit! I love how the intercooler looks on the front!! suc a badass car!!! I cant wait to have my Z already!!! damn it!

  • sounds amazing

  • By the way what front valence is this???? I wanna buy it for my car.

  • I picked up a '77 280z and have been looking on the internet for ideas on what I wanna do with it. Your car is exactly what I had in mind to do with mine, updated but still classic. Looks really good! I agree that 16's is the biggest size wheels that look good on the car...but still amazing! Exhaust sounds bad ass too, I'm finishing a head job some time next week, havent even started it yet but I hope it sounds somewhat like yours when I do. The previous own gutted out the car so should be loud.

  • One of my all time favourite cars. Such a shame there aren't more still on the roads.

  • pun: the graphics are 240

  • i was just teasing it was my bros car and he made a good choice in wheels

  • Fantastic 240z!

  • nice car man, getting one as soon as i get my license back!!

  • Looks a lot like my '79 280 ZX I owned. Wish it had those upgrades to it though.

  • wheels too tall. look at your ride height that thing is practically FLYING! nice otherwise though.

  • @JDBEDORE This was the first outing with high poundage springs and the ride height set too high. If you look at later videos you will see I finally found a good spring rate and ride height.

  • @datsunz na he's talking bout your wheels they're big the fronts are straight but the rear wheels are too big for me it doesn't look right but its your car your not building it to please other people its for YOU beautiful Z though what motor is in it?

  • @TheBoostDoctor You're right ) It had a tuned L28 on tripple carbs back then.It ended up with a new L28 F54/P90 ARP crank, rod and head bolts, 2mm steel gasket, turbo oil pump, HE351 tubro, Megasquirt II, 680cc injectors, 3" intake and 3" stainless exhaust, knocksense kit, Spec aluminium flywheel, Spec 6 puck clutch, with an R200 LSD.

  • Are you running ITB's? Sounds awesome mate. Love it.

  • heyy datsunz are you running 17x 9.5 all round and does it have power steering

any help will be greatly appreciated

    thanks.

  • @260zfan hi. 17x9 front -13mm offset 17x9.5 rear -19mm offset. No PS, hard work to park in a tight space but apart from that no problem.

  • @datsunz wow thankyou. im about to buy the same sizes as you and was just wondering if there were any problems. what are the effects of negative offset?

  • @260zfan it's a bit twitchy at speed, setting the toe correctly helps but that doesnt change the fact the SAI is wrong with wheels of that size/offset. I lived with it for the sake of looks. On problem fitting was the fact the tire catches the lower front section of the fibreglasss arches when turn the wheel to park, I cut a small section out wihich is very hard to notice. If I did it again I would get 17x9.5 -19mm offset all round.

  • This is sick!!!! Congrats on the awesome job mate, looks and sounds wicked!!!!!! :)

  • I just love that the 240z and 260z have a little European in them!

  • Devil Z!!

  • you are driving on the wrong side of the road Car looks nice..

  • @AcomsRazor1776 i Agree anything over 17" = a horrible bumpy ride and looks like ass on a Z car imo..

  • beautiful car

  • Very nice.

  • sweet.. love that Z!

  • Wow. What a sweet looking Dato. I wish i still had my Dato 1600. These things go up and up in value.

  • @AcomsRazor1776 The simplest answer is usually the right answer...... not in this case!

  • My 280z with flat top f54 and e88 + su's is no match for your megasquirted silver beauty. I salute you

  • I would fit 20's. That would be perfect in my opinion.

  • @jimes256 Agree...15's look silly!

  • @jimes256 like any car that you own.....it's up to you. If you want 22's then fit 22's if someone else doesn't like it then they can buy their own car and fit 15's.....that's what I think.

  • great car, but i would have opted for smaller wheels. 17's look a bit too big. 15's would be perfect, in my opinion.

  • wow nice job man !

  • You Sir, must probably be the happiest person on this planet!

    Crazy set of Wheels!!

    Great Job

  • i am jealous

  • Sweet. lol

  • what motor you got in there?

  • How's the car now then? Still awesome? heh

  • Yes!!

  • how much was the paint job?

  • Its not had one yet, Thats next on the list.

  • Panasports?

  • what type of rims are those?

  • i think those are Wantanabe wheels

  • They are not watanabe, similar though.

  • i think they are called superlights . . performance wheels australia make them not cheap though just like the watanabes

  • superlites yes but nothing to do with the Australian company....UK company that I would not use again!!!

  • So anyway, you kept the l24?

  • Nah it's has a turbo l28 with a Holest EDIS and Megasquirt now :)

  • Nice, seems a popular route... good reason for that too it seems.

If I ever manage to find one in the right condition, at the right price, it's probably going to be the route I take it down aswell.

Were you at Dorset Japanese Car Sow on 2nd of August? My memories failed me, but remember a 240z there that looked a bit like this, although mite not of at all knowing me. Spent a while drooling over it I'm sure.

  • No not me mate....yeah it's a good option for the l28, last time on the dyno it was kicking out 320bhp and 340 ft/lb at 11psi....not bad.

  • Ah kk, just wondering. 320bhp? That's pretty impressive from a 30 yr old engine.

I'll be waiting for some more vids I guess ;)

  • Yeah it is....plenty more to squeeze out yet but to be honest it's pretty wild like it is....maybe just another 80 :)

  • Was going to ask if you had any plans to increase that haha, seems it's always hard to resist "squeezing a little bit more".

  • Blown one gearbox already, plan to fit an 200sx box soon....then the problem will move to the next part....probably the half shafts :)

  • lol whenever you upgrade one thing, there's always something else that needs changing as a result it seems. My dad had that problem with his skyline, cost quickly mounted hehe.

Still worth it in the end once you finally get on top of it all.

Oh and I searched megasquirt since I didn't know what it was, big mistake, but found it in the end haha.

  • If you find a car and want to go the Megtasquirt route drop me an email I'd be glad to help.

  • Damn that is one hot 240z.

  • Love the engine and exhaust sound! This is a real classic/retro.

  • i don't know much about these cars but ido like them. how is the handling? in the future when i take my ls1 out im going to need a nice little track car. how are the rear ends are they tough? and alternative cheap rear end swaps that fit these things? to the OP she's a beauty

  • Love it, shes a beauty.

  • perty little thing

  • nice, I love the old school z's, I've always wanted one and just wanted to drop either a rb26dett in it or a 2jz in it. what kinda engine do you have in there? sounds great. your reverse light and brake light is out haha

  • NICE

  • i live in canada and want a 240z, is there a website i can get them from?

  • love it!

  • black number plates rule! nice looking Z man.

  • ur funny lookin kid.....

  • get the fuck outta here you little snot nosed punk...you wouldnt know what choice was if it smacked you in your dicksucker...that happens to be a slick ass Z...Dont hate because you roll moms hand-me-down civic with a exhaust tip thinking youre a tuner...

  • Good lord this makes Me miss My beloved 240z., funnest little car I ever owned.

  • thats what im talking about!!!!!!!

  • i miss my 260 z.

  • sounds great

  • Beautiful I love these Z cars, even after they became Nissan!

  • they were always nissan, nissan just used datsun at first.

  • Dude WTF, your driving on the wrong side of the road. Ha ha just kidding saweet ride.

  • SEX-Z!!!

  • THAT IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing

  • Im getting one of these my uncle used to own one and im gonna get it

  • i em simply jellous!

soo old but still bad ass and cool as frozen hell!

  • restored l28? cause sounds beautiful maan

  • wow so old but it still sounds and looks absolutely beautiful

  • beautiful!

  • just a Z with fibreglass replica over fenders screwed to the body. I cut out the old arch and welded it back together.

  • Thats what i want to do to mine, i have the zg flares sitting there, but i just cant bring myself to put the grinder to the arches just yet!

  • I can understand that, My rear arches were rust and fibreglass so it was no problem. the fronts aren't a problem being that they unbolt.

  • was tht originally a 240z or 240ZG? if it 240z how u get the over-fenders riveted to the body like the zg?

  • wheels are to HUGE...looks like a hot wheels

  • however i would change the color of the flared guards to match the silver.

  • thats the besttt looking 240z ive seen. You modified it exactly how i would picture mine to be. The nice older looking rims with wide tread. And excellent color choice. good man

  • damn that sound nice

    stock motor?

  • Good job it's not your car then! Standard they look ok but 99 percent of people will disagree with you.

  • 240z the only japenese car i like doesnt need a body kit never will ...

  • i found some info, mostly dealing with cold weather. But yes, i see where bad casting is breaking the center clean out of the wheel. Seems to be really prevolent with their thin spoke "racing" wheels (LOL). especially the five spoke that seems to be popular. Couldn't find anything on the rota rb series though. May just be because there are not nearly as many of them out there, definatly does not mean they are safe in cold weather though.

  • yeah all I've seen were pictures but they were up close enough to see the big rota center cap. most looked like they were GT3's but I think one picture was an RB but I couldn't really tell cuz all the spokes were either bent or broken.

  • Yeah, i didn't just ask that. Read over the 80+ comments again and saw where that question has already been answered. Sorry bout that.

  • whats the width on those 17's? What size tires are you running as well? I thing the look is fantastic. I've been considering 17x9 rota RB's with 235-40-ZR17 rubber wrapped around them. Thats a total diameter of about 24.4 inches and a section width between 9.5 and 9.8 inches. Sorry bout the standard measurements, hope they are not a problem (the metric is in the tire size if you know how to calculate it).

  • do NOT get rotas. ever. they WILL break if you do anything above street driving. Watanabe makes the same wheel and although it costs alot more, they are some of the best quality wheels out there.

  • heard the same thing about panasport. The only problem with watanabes is that they don't make deep offset 17s. I would go with 16s, but tire sizes are more limited and i really don't want to get into stretching tires. Also, your the first person i've heard talking about rota wheels breaking, but that may be from not digging deep enough. Do you have any info on intances of rotas breaking. The only real time i've ever seen a wheel truely break was a guy hitting a curb is a rx-8 with stock rims.

  • ---i am selling a 1971 240z and a 1974 260z...NO RUST!! READY TO DRIVE OR RESTORE!! E-MAIL ME INFO....pic link attched to my channel!

  • yeah you could fit no problem

  • thanks man, great car you've got, a+ on the vid too!

    thanks agian.

  • Can anyone reply to me on this question?

Could this car fit me comfortably?

Me being an Asian guy, 5'11", 205 lbs.

I could barely fit in my boy's '86 Corolla, I head rubbed against the headliner.

  • I'm 6'2" and bigger than that, I've owned several Zcars. You sit LOW as hell, no worries on the height or weight.

  • Sweet ass ride you got there take care of it!!

  • god that sounds cool... what exhaust are you running?

  • those are the coolest rims i have ever seen :D

(is it me or those rims looks similar to watanabe's..except bigger)

  • is that the dood from Wangan Midnight?

  • Fuck your video game shit, ahaha. Got your license yet little boy?

  • ya dood... I got a a 82 nissan Z ima get some vids up soon

  • love the front end like that, also great wheel choice and fitment

  • fuck, just black out the headlights. thats sick thanks for the inspiration

  • is that the original motor?

  • that's gonna be a sleeper!

add some more vids of it when it's done.

    please.

  • thats a real mans car

  • And unlike real man's car like classic american muscle cars, this one is a car for real men with TASTE.

  • or no money

  • @Vodd9 So true, lookin back in the day when i liked(i guess i still like a little) the chargers, camaros, cougars and such...they are nice to look at and may be fast in a strait line...but this is where it's at, the S30...cant be beat. After owning a Camaro and a Z06 which i still have, my 280z is much more fun...and SIMPLE..oh my this car is FUN to work on...so when saying its nearly finish its like the ending to a perfect movie, you don't want it to end.

  • what a beast!

  • i am selling two (2) 240z's, both complete 1 is a 71 (runs good, needs work) the other a 72 (hasnt ran in years) with rare oem bodykit..must sell! have 5 cars already! e-mail me!

  • were do you live?

    does the 71 rust?

  • Looks good with the panasport wheels/rims . It has the mikunis no?

  • Holy Crap man! You're on the wrong side of the road! hahaha

Great looking Z man. Sounds nice and healthy.

  • Brilliant! The old mans got a 240z Samuri! One of the few thats left!

    :)

  • Ahh...love the sound! I had a 72'. Had problems with the SU Carbs Floats sticking, and Overheating. I think only 2 core rad. Some said to keep the engine hood propped up to the stops while driving to ventilate. I never did. Mine was US (LHD) version with Competition Orange paint! Thanks Mate for the video!

  • is my dream car looks great! only thing that really stood out was the front silver bar but as you say nearly finnished! good luck!

  • are those wantanabe rims? nice

  • no they are superlites (ultralites), very similar though

  • beautiful car, a true classic!

  • I have a 240 im fixing up and im wondering if the stock engine is worth rebuilding, does it put out?

  • Ya its pritty good but if you have the mony drop in an Ls1.

  • The stock 240 engine be a screamer if done properly. Bang for Buck i'd go turbo everytime.

  • What a great car, congrats !!!!! And that sound is perfect. I can imagine face of any Porsche fan when you overtake him - Because this is pure classic car like no other.

  • Thanks!

  • Very hot.

  • 48 - 54 seconds was pure sex!!

  • How much money? good question following amounts are in GBP £ not $ Car 3,800 wheels 1,500 + tyres 500 = 2000 custom: suspension/bushes/dampers 1500 fuel tank and fuel lines/ fittings 800 engine rebuild 1000 turbo charger 300 ecu/injectors/intake pipes/ intercooler/ fuel pump 1500 wilwood brakes/servo/disc/pads 1500 stainless 3" exhaust system. 400 look on a porsche drivers face when I overtake him.....priceless!
  • wow thats about $12700 all up.

I know but from experience with families Z's that they have no problems overtaking Porsche's.

    Love your car mate.

What do you think I could do with about £2600 to £2800. Im looking at a '72 Zed car in good nick for about £2500 and want to spend about the same modifying it.

  • depends what you want to do....handling or power?

  • really just a good balance. probably tipped more to the handling side of things because I am a young driver but a bit of go would be good

  • wow your care is amazing how much money did u spent on it ? KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

  • look like watanabe's

  • love those cars

  • They are Superlites and no don't buy any, at least not from the UK company...you will get lots of problems.

  • Are you saying that there are other places to buy these Superlites where they are of better quality? I.e. they manufacture Superlights in Australia, is this the same company or brand?

  • They are Superlites and no don't buy any, at least not from the UK company...you will get lots of problems.

  • They are Superlites and no don't buy any, at least not from the UK company...you will get lots of problems.

  • actually, they look more like watanabe rs8's... i have the 002's and they don't look that good. :D

  • they look like sportmax 002's

  • them rims look h u g e ,nice sound and nice car.

  • bigger wheels = faster speed!

    ha!

  • Whats da brand of those rims, i wanna get them for my Z.

  • I'm guessing sportmax.

  • 17" too big? er there was me thinking I should have fitted 18's :)

  • those wheels being way too big (i like 15" max) are the only thing i don't dig on it. perfect car otherwise from one 240z owner to another. engine sounds great.

  • Whooooo, thatz mean

  • lovely lovely lovely

  • It was an l28 n42/n42 with tripple webers. It now has a f54/p90 Megasquirt fuel and spark with a Holset HE351cw turbo.

  • What engines in that? It sounds a lot like my Z31 which has the VG30E in it! :)

  • fender flares are nice just needs to be color matched

  • says who?

  • Without the flares it would be Carlos Fandango!

  • fender flares :P kinda funny lookin on it, and they almost got taken off by that car when ur backing out

  • oh so sexy..beautiful 240z

  • wow thats beautiful

  • Sounds gorgeous, Would love a 240z now, To think back 25yrs when i was mucking around with old jags i could have picked up a solid 240z for peanuts! No chance now.

  • what are the specs on those rims?that Z is gorgeous, great car.

  • Thanks, rims are 17x9 front -13mm offset , 17x9.5 rear with -19mm offset. 235/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear

  • Looks and sounds great! Good job!

  • Hmm aren't you on the wrong side of the road? :) Nice car.

  • Love the rims, great car!

  • The engine in the video was a NA 2.8....I'm in the process of fitting a low compression 2.8 with megasquirt edis and a Holset turbo

  • r u running a turbo 280zx engine. i just bought a 280z with a rb20 installed and it hauls a**

  • Very nice! Sounds lovely!

  • Probably some dodgy wires or bad connection on the bulb at a guess
