  • What happened to Rondo? It seems to have had enough market. It was way better tasting than squirt.

  • Everybody was Kung-fu fighting! :p

  • Ok... I thought this was about Rajon Rondo from the Boston Celtics..

  • can you post it on good quality? it would be AWESOME!

  • Rondo was my favorite soft drink back in the day.

  • Was sold in Texas in late 70's as well. My friend's parents bought it by the case and after jumping on the trampoline for a while we would challenge each other to who could "Slam down" the fastest. we would do a couple in a row and man did it burn !!!!

Thanks for the memories I love it

  • They're not gonna want a soda they have to sip, they're gonna want a RONDO!

    It's never sticky!

LOL even when I was a little kid I thought this commercial was stupid.

  • Iused to gulp this stuff by the gallons, good post!!

  • I was 12 when I saw this. A friend and I were playing with staves like in the commercial ... Then, one of them flipped up, hit the glass light diffuser (shaped like a square) and a large piece hit my face, missing my eye by 3 inches. 9 stiches later ... I hated Rondo.

  • As a kid in the 70s, I too remember Rondo. The stuff was the bombdiggity.

  • Where is the video of the guys sand-skiing! Man, whenever me and my bros got a hold of a Rondo in the 70's it was all about slammnig the whole can!

  • @Sincopare

I was just about to say something about that commercial when I saw your comment. I remember that one better than the one posted here. I'm glas I'm not the only one who remembers it.

  • LOL I used to drink Rondo like it was going out of style.

  • good thing you did.. coz it did go out of style.. I used to guzzle it as well... maybe that was what started my kidney problems...

  • Rondo of blood

  • I remember this soda..It tasted good and the can did look like beer..It fooled a couple adults as I recall.

  • They sold it in Minnesota

  • Chipper, that's why my friends and I used to drink it. The can looked like a beer! I loved the soda too. Peace

  • I remember Rondo too. Funny thing, my eyes were so bad that I thought the crushed can was a bag of tortilla chips.

  • Ah the predecessor to BRAWNDO: THE THIRST MUTILATOR!

    (It's got electrolytes)

  • REAL men drink highly carbonated sodas.

  • This is what powerthirst is making fun of.

  • That guy looks like Viggo Mortensen.

  • Great commercial. I have to say Rondo is the US version of the Aussie lemon squash drink "Solo" which we invented in 1973 (see Solo soft drink in Wikipedia for reference). They used exact same logo scheme as our Solo too. And the slogan "so you can slam it down fast" is also our Solo brand slogan too. I'll post a video response with one of the Solo commercials from my collection.

  • Wow, I'll say. Thanks for posting. Is Solo still marketed?

  • It sure is mate!!!

  • @typicalaussiebloke What's lemon squash?

  • I remember this soda it was I think the late 70,s sometime

  • I remember my uncle stocking this pop in his walk-in cooler in the early 80's. It was great. Wonder if cans exist anymore?

  • Lightly carbonated so you can slam it down fast! I used to drink it when I mowed lawns as a lad. Thanks Panchesco for quenching the thirst of my childhood memories!

  • I barely remember Rondo from my youth. My dad bought my older brothers a Rondo each one time and they thought he was buying them beers, because of the can style/tv ads.

  • Rondo was put out by Coca-Cola Bottling Company in late 70's.

  • I contacted Schweppes and they claim they were not the makers

  • Does anyone remember who the manufacturer was for Rondo? I cannot seem to find who made it. It wasn't Schweppes.

  • I remember drinking it at my Uncles. He had a walk in refrigeration unit full of pop. That one was the best. I miss it.

  • I guess this must be the inspiration for Brawndo: The Thirst Mutilator from Idiocracy.

  • As a kid, we used to slam Rondo down fast just to squeeze the can at the end like the macho guys do. What was different about Rondo was that it came in an aluminum can, not a metal can which most soda was in at the time. So you COULD squeeze it like the commercial! I remember the guys sand-surfing in a different TV ad...

  • Rondo was known as Solo in other countries outside the USA.

  • That's awesome right there.

  • Rondo soda was once sold in the Rockford, IL./Southern Wisconsin area. Was it originally made by the same company in Stamford, CT. that made in the USA Schweppes mixers?

  • i'm a northern illinois dude, myself. i remember rondo quite well. all my relatives said the can looked like it should contain beer

  • I loved Rondo! I wish they still made it.

  • Rondo - lightly carbonated so you can slam it down fast!
