Me I do celebrate "Xmas" ("Noël" in French) just because it's a traditional feast. It is cool to receive gifs, to make surprises, to play Santa Claus for the children, etc. It is also the only day in the whole year where the family is united again in the same house, and this is great. I never saw Xmas as a religious feast though... Who cares ?

Louis, the information you have regarding the Saturnalia and the celebration of Christmas is correct and this is exactly the reason I don't celebrate it. I am a Christian and the early Christians did not celebrate Jesus' birth and December 25 was not even his birthday. It began as you said, as the celebration of the birth of a pagan god. I believe the God Christians worship would not want us to celebrate it because of these reasons and I hope your video makes more people think about it's origin.

Here in France we all use to celebrate Christmas, that we call "Noël" (from the Latin "Natalis Dies" = "Day of the Birth".) The French word don't say whom is the birth, indeed ! :D

Btw, a year without Christmas must be a little bit depressive, no ? :S

What was depressing for me and still is, was losing my husband last year suddenly and unexpectedly. Everything else seems so insignificant.
