Borax will damage septic systems by killing good bacteria that break down waste products; the washing soda damages the leach field's PVC piping. It's a terrible recipe
@aed626 If you have a septic system you should revise having your washing machine run off running into it and have a separate place for your grey water from the wash.
@aed626 I have been using this method for months now,but this is the first comment i have seen that has anything negative to say about this. would you please send me a link so i can review the material to where it damages pvc? Also from most people I have seen do this recipe I myself included have had nothing but great results with it and all the eco people say it is better to use this also.but i am always interested in the pro's and cons,

A better recipe is the one I use which is:
