  • Omar, overall I enjoyed your review. That's why I responded. I noticed some of the same problems. Sorry for the many posts due to the text limit. Need to be red from the first up.

In the end, I view the story in terms of economic and system problems rahter than a racial ones. You may not agree of course.

  • I also do know the system and have appreciation for what he went through as a child and appreciation of his strength of mind and character to overcome traumas that would hold many other back regardless of help given to them. But for now he is where he is precisely to this help.

  • There's no reason to argue about it, unless from some ideological, racial, dogmatic motives (just like the social worker in a movie). Just let it be Mr. Omar. Mr. Oher will have his own day in the sun , I believe. I think that Mr. Oher himself would agree with giving some more credit for now to Mrs. Touhy.

  • The reason is simple - it's she and her family, who has so far done something that, at this time, deserves recognition. Michael to his credit has taken advantage of an opportunity but he has not written his story yet. I believe and hope that he will write his story and that it will deserve a movie with his perspective. For now, however, Mrs. Touhy and Touhys deserve the credit and a tribute. Just give it to them and dont be petty!

  • . If the prospective had been Michael's it would have had another set of clichés, I'm sure. I was surprised though hoe it tried to point at certain white attitudes, even though I think that Southerners may find that stereotypical, too. Having said that, my disagreement with you is this: yes, the movie is more a tribute to Leigh Ann Touhy and Touhy family than it is to Michael.

  • I watched the movie yesterday not knowing prior anything about the story behind it, being out of the country for some time. I agree that movie follows some Hollywood clichés but that's due to the nature of the business rather than certain white point of view.
