Gregg Allman Tour is a live album by Gregg Allman, released in 1974. It was recorded at Carnegie Hall and Capitol Theatre. with tommy talton. daniel/ alikat productions/ publicity/ archives
Listen to some Nitty Gritty Dirt Band..Will the Circle Be Unbroken, awesome gospel, raw bluegrass by Earl,Merle,A.P. and Doc..with the Dirt Band helpin out.
@davisonh1 A.P. Carter did write it, but he was not Johnny Cash's mother in law. Maybelle Carter was Johnny's mother in law and she was married to A.P.'s brother, Ezra.
I have played this song many times wiith different bluegrass bands but the best I ever played it was at my mother's funeral. every time I hear it I think of her
I was at the concert when it came through Boston, still have the ticket stub. I believe there was a 35 piece orchestra playing with the band. Great concert, even greater song. Still have the LP. Boston Bill
After the death of his brother, Duane, Gregg Allman carved out a solo career. His first album, "Laid Back", was released in 1973 to a positive critical reception. It included a reworked Allman Brothers songs, "Midnight Rider" (one of the band's best songs) that made it to #19 on the Charts. There are also a few cover songs on the lp, such as the gospel song "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" & a take on Jackson Browne's song "These Days."
@Rotarded705 I read they did in a book, there's a real good chance it's true- I've also heard Mountain jam quite a few times, and I'm positive iss for real
I had been looking for this song for awhile and finally found the studio version on Gregg's first solo album, Laid Back, released in 1973. It really gets to me.

@seagreg Will The Circle Be Unbroken isn't actually a gospel song. It was written by A.P. Carter and performed by The Carter Family.

I'm pretty sure they play it in the last 5 minutes of Mountain Jam ( around the 27:20 mark). Actually, I'm trying to figure that out right now lol
